That’s a beauty. You know that model is Italian most likely so idk about that S90V but it’s nice.
S90v has an HRC optimal range under m390’s 61-62.
Per the Crucible heat treat sheets, the optimal target hrc is 59. I like it at 61 or 60, but it has some strange sharpening properties that hard. A lot of carbide tearout...
Only Italian makers I found that did a great heat treatment on folders is Fantoni (and they don't make knives anymore) and MBK. Most run their steel softer than optimal. Lionsteel does decent with fixed blades (maybe not m390), but that's it.
Aaaaaalways hit it from the side...never the front!!

Hey Jared. Sorry if this is a little off topic, but I couldn't find a recent sharpening video of your to comment on. I was wondering if you had a sharpening video where you the discuss the differences between the "scrubbing" technique (sharpening in sections) that's so popular in the Japanese world and the continuous sweeping motion (heel to tip) that you use. Your sharpening videos are the best, so I would really like to get your take on the pros and cons of each method. I'm also super curious on the value of the "J-stroke" when stropping. I can't quite understand the importance of that little semi-circle motion before starting the stropping motion. Thanks for all your awesome content!
I bet that the Lynch NW Giant Mouse wire replacement clip would look pretty good on this knife.
Thats the problem. Most knife makers won't tell you what they hrc they run their knives at. You have to rely on others who probably are just guessing as most people do. I have found that to be especially true of Magnacut. Would be mice to get somemore makers to supply us with this information before purchasing.

In general low HRC from Italy production knives seems to be real, as is their use of N690, in premium knives.
