J'adore, j'ai eu la chance d'aller trois fois dans ma vie aux US et là je ferme les yeux et j'y suis. Je suis Fan, continuez comme ça. Amicalement, Franck du Blog de Toulouse
Jimmie Rodgers, aka "The Singing Brakeman" was heavily influenced by this type of music, as he was influenced also by black blues players. Clarinets, corners, etc can be heard in his final recordings. Also, bluegrass is an ensemble musical form, allowinG for expression by all the musicians in the group. That's probably why it reminds you so much of the music you heard as a child.
Ive got to add a comment about this group. I'm an old boffo (and I do mean old ) and as a general rule this kind of music is not 'my cup of tea' but I think Pokey and his group are superb. Medium and up tempos are 'spot on' and PK's voice is perfect his style. All the musicians are great. Is that the trumpet player on banjo ? I wonder why he left the group He could really swing. I found PK by accident and have had a lot of pleasure listening to him !
Some days up, some days down Think I'll jump into the river and drown With no means for healing, no cure can be found If I end up drinking everything in the room I'm just, actin' a fool, forgetting you Actin' a fool, forgetting you Look over the horizon, what do you see? Another sun is setting on me Last rays of sunlight, taking my sanity If you see me howling, howling at the moon I'm just, actin' a fool, forgetting you Actin' a fool, forgetting you Everyone has a story, every song has an end Now I am finished and I won't sing again I'll drink myself green, don't mind that money I spend You were the last thing I had left to lose I'll be, actin' a fool, forgetting you Actin' a fool, forgetting you Some days up, some days down Think I'll jump into the river and drown With no means for healing, no cure can be found If I end up drinking everything in the room I'm just, actin' a fool, forgetting you Actin' a fool, forgetting you Actin' a fool, forgetting you I'm just actin' a fool, forgetting you
The cat on the banjo is T.J. Muller, the trumpet player that you're talking about. Multi-talented! I do miss Chloe though! She tears it up and is so cute!

Pokey please bring back this band and this style 🙏💕☹️
This band gives me hope for the future. 🍻
That’s because Pokey is embracing and building upon the cultural monuments of our past rather than tearing them down.
Where in hell have you folks been all my life .. ? .. Love it!!
The talent-per-artist ratio in this band is off the charts.
If you get an opportunity to go and see them, by all means do. They put on a sensational show - so much fun to see them in person
So true, but what happened to the clarinet and trumpet players?
@@nankerphelge3771 As far as I know he's got a new band. But due to covid he hasn't been to the Netherlands playing his new album yet...
@@kulter20 Thank you Synthesia!
@@nankerphelge3771 the whole band quit him years ago

Introduced myself to Pokey at the Ottawa BluesFest earlier this month ... now I am hooked!
Great pace with plenty of original licks and humour.
Ragtime music from the early 20th century to around world war I. Love it.
Wow. This is more than good. This rhythm hit my heart. This voice is perfect.
Love this guy!! This song reminds me of Bluegrass music that I heard growing up.

Always fun for us geezers to find young folks who perform this great
old style music. Tons of it on the streets of New Orleans.
Love the AC/DC pinball machine in the background. ;-)
love you pokey
So glad I found you.
POKEY is a MUST !!!
I'm liking that retro Jimmy Rodgers (the brakeman) look and sound. Fresh without being gimmicky.
Some days up, some days down
Think I'll jump into the river and drown
With no means for healing, no cure can be found
If I end up drinking everything in the room
I'm just, actin' a fool, forgetting you
Actin' a fool, forgetting you
Look over the horizon, what do you see?
Another sun is setting on me
Last rays of sunlight, taking my sanity
If you see me howling, howling at the moon
I'm just, actin' a fool, forgetting you
Actin' a fool, forgetting you
Everyone has a story, every song has an end
Now I am finished and I won't sing again
I'll drink myself green, don't mind that money I spend
You were the last thing I had left to lose
I'll be, actin' a fool, forgetting you
Actin' a fool, forgetting you
Some days up, some days down
Think I'll jump into the river and drown
With no means for healing, no cure can be found
If I end up drinking everything in the room
I'm just, actin' a fool, forgetting you
Actin' a fool, forgetting you
Actin' a fool, forgetting you
I'm just actin' a fool, forgetting you
