Correction for 7:15. The explanation you're giving is how the old chrome effect was produced. The drum lacquering process leaves a layer thin enough to fit within our tolerances, so we don't need to make a new mold. We also try not lacquering pieces with too many studs. However, drum lacquering is an expensive process nonetheless.
I understand and agree with most of the criticisms of the new one, but I still like it more. I think it mainly comes down to not being a fan of those foil sheets. They both have them but I think the new one is fine without the wings and I might just order the parts to build the original's head tail things (not sure what they're called) for the new one. You can't really do that with the foil parts on the waste of the old one without doing something totally different. The other parts of the first set are cool, but the only one I really wish was in the new one is the nimbus cloud, so maybe I'll get those parts too.
I agree with you on this one. Having not seen any of the cartoon (so I have no tie to the fiction), I think the Warrior Mech is just a better looking Mech overall. It may not have the gimmick, but as far as presence is concerned, it looks much sharper on a shelf
Your videos are good, and you have lots of good insight, but I think it might help the quality of your videos if it wasn’t just a static shot of the build with your hand waving in front of it the whole time. Maybe shoot some footage that explores the details of the build, turntable type shots, things like that, and intercut that with your commentary. Might make for a more interesting watch. But love your videos though
To be honest, I think the first mech has more content. It has a flag and skirt made of special materials, and a cloth cape. There is also a great little building that can be put together with the 80011 building, But I think the second type of mecha is better looking and more interesting. The combination of the plane and the cloud ring behind it are very handsome. And the see-through window on the chest is great, as are the sturdier palms. The first mecha is more suitable for viewing in a cabinet, the second mecha is not only for appreciation, but also very suitable for playing. I can't wait to get my second mech and put together the mechs from the past few years!
To be honest, here in Spain at least, we do not have the first one in stock. The new one seems to be a replacement for that. It stills looks dope though!
The first mech has been retired on Lego's website in my country for months now. I'm not a fan of the vinyl parts and I prefer the aesthetic of the 2023 mech and the extra play value of having the detachable jet. Also I'm starting to think that Chris isn't really a Duck.
The first mech can also be found on discount recently. I picked mine up for 115 USD including tax. Both sets are beautiful but I find it hard to justify the full price of either of them.
@@apeman9191 it was on Amazon during one of the prime days in 2022. But it’s discounted now on LEGO shop at home and I think out of stock at the moment.
I do prefer the original as the mech looks more regal and how Wu Kong is depicted in other media, in addition even though it's a mech it still looks like a monkey, whereas the newer one is far too mechanical. The Warrior mech is around £150-190 now depending on where you buy from and the new one is £120.
I feel like it make sense the original was so great but I think Lego decided to add more heaven looking and Armour looking and I think they finally make combo set
Well nice compare i must say, but ther is a misstak in your video, when you are talking about ho many stickers ther is and you saying that you should show us. Well you dont show us .
The original still kicks the most butt to me. It was so revolutionary as a mech, along with the side builds. The new mech isn’t THAT MUCH better of a mech compared with the old one, and it doesn’t have side builds.

Thanks for checking out the video!! Appreciate the clarification and that’s great to hear it no longer requires a new mold for an effect like that!
Wow. I expected the new one to be bigger than the 'old' mech. Plus you get more stuff to play with the old one. Great review.

wow, this mans collection is the best i've seen
- -I just prefer to look of the old one:)

Great review! I’m partial to the original, but will still likely get one of the ultra mechs.

I was wondering which one should I buy then I realized that I can buy both 😂
To make sure that I don't get sad if I bought one and left the other
I’m thinking the same thing. Imagine having both of these to stand guard for a set like City of Lanterns
I like the OG mech but I still want the new one for collection sake, however the price is a bit much.
I love the big scissors piece of the new mech, in the MK animation, the scissors scene reminds me Kill la kill, one of my favorite anime series.
Now I wonder if a third mech will be built. Also I wonder if anyone will combine these two mechs or a make a new mech made of two of the same mech.
Warrior mech on its own is better but add in the side builds and it's a no brainer.

Now that you said it, I noticed it as well: most likely not a real duck! 😳
What about a combo build between the two sets to mech the ultimate monkey king mech
hey, exactly what I wanted to see
Just looking at these makes me want to build custom Lego mechs

Really? Did you mind telling me where you found the set at such a discounted rate

The first mech is in my oppinion better. I like how he is slim, and agile looking. The new mech is way too chunky to be a monkey.
It’s not actually trying to be a monkey
@@Kodaiva then it is a gorilla

still think the original one is better =). the only thing that the new one interested me are the minifigures

First Monkey Kid Mech is so much better. But I do have both
5:12 actually 76 piece difference
I like how he just compliments the 2020 mech, whille the 2023 mech just sits there looking dumb
How do you dust it all bet it takes weeks
New one looks a lot better
The new one looks way better
