Great vid as always, the honesty as opposed to bravado is refreshing. I hate to be self indulgent but you did mention about going to track days alone. At 37 I'm about to do my first track days this year. Hints or tips from you or anyone else here is muchly appreciated. Also my mum doesn't know I ride motorbikes, so high five to all you out there hiding your bikes
Be smooth, don't over try, if you start getting ragged back off a bit and relax. Most of all enjoy the experience and just focus on the small improvements which will come.
Everthing @nigelbaldwin752 said plus I would add, make sure you bike is in good order, your tyres are good, you have a lever guard fitted and have a back protector on. Clothing wise, helmet, above the ankle motorbike boots, full length leather gloves, one piece or two piece leathers (Two piece MUST zip all of the way around the waist). Most trackday companies will have an instructor who help you/give you advice, don't work about speed, take you time and enjoy it. P.S. Watchout, it's very addictive 😉
Nobody wins practices. Just don't over-ride the bike and give yourself time. Soo many times I've seen fast guys ruin their days because they went hell-for-leather way too early in their session. I even saw some guys crash their bikes on the 2nd corner of the day. Save the red mist for racing.
Bring a tyre pressure gauge. If you come by car, take a chair. For a first trackday it is best to start with trackdays that have beginners in little groups of 3-5 riders behind an instructor rather then straight out onto the track by yourself. The instructor can give you loads of good tips. The main difference compared to road riding is that you will develop a much better feel for the front tyre, (trail)braking into corners with the front brake applied. This loads the front suspension and tyre and makes all the difference.
Watch YT vids of track days at the track you are going to. Get familiar with lines, braking points, turn ins, etc. You will be crapping yourself before the first session, but you will feel amazing after. Enjoy!
Lee. The main thing is that you are OK. What a great guy Clive is. I'm looking forward to the next Vlog. Have missed Neil's happy smiling face. Good luck for 2024
Great news on being able to muscle the bike more and feeling confident to go out there and do it on your own! Neil will have hated missing out on another road trip
Great vlog once again, always look forward to them, it looked painful admitting you missed Neil being along 😂 but it shows the good friendship you both have, even if he wouldn't admit it, it obviously showed on your road to recovery. Glad you escaped injury from your spill, bikes can always be repaired. Can't wait for the next episode, keep them coming Lee 😊🏍️
Great video as always... We cant wait to see you back at the NW200 this year.... With no UGP anymore it would be great to see you at the Sunflower too 😊
Well done Lee great vid as always from the heart thank you for sharing your journey with us. Mate I don't know how you do it after what you went through great viewing cannot wait for the next video take care your family are great
If you ever need an extra pair of hand at Almeria or Catagena I live in between them and would love to help. For a packet of Tuck biscuits 😋 🤣🤣🤣🤣 💪🏻😎👍🏻
Great vlog as always Lee. Brave going it alone as u know what you mean about not “trusting” your ability with the tech/mechy bits. Glad you had no ill effects from the crash.
Lee, the life of a motorbike racer. One little get off an am just glad ya OK. Best thing is to see you coming back up to speed, you weren't thinking that 6 months ago. Please don't gar anywhere without Neil. All the very best for this year to you an ya family.❤ ✌️
The title of this one worried me, thought you'd injured yourself again ! Glad to see it was only the bike, which can be fixed. Good to ear you are getting stronger and riding better each time you go out 👍
Grate Blog Yes its looks not the same without Neil’s banter. A part from the crash nice to hear your fine it looks you had grate weather & the footage looks grate too . Looking forward to the next one 👍👍👍👍
Woah, that corner entry at 12:38, as if you've been training testicles instead of muscles. I totally respect someone feeling nervous to do a trackday by themselves. Never forget the rest of the planet would be even more nervous trailbraking like that.
Sorry to hear what was going so well, ended up going not so well, but hey, these things happen. Looking forward to the next vid to see how you sort things out.
Happy New Year Lee to you & the family. Glad your ok after the crash, can't wait for the next installment. Looking forward to your season, I'm sure you'll be a front runner in BSB & the TT.
Looking forward to seeing you out in 2024. Glad you are ok. If Neil can't come out again just let us know. I'm sure that there are lots of people would love to help you out.
In the big picture you know your body will be ok Lee after all you've been through! So onwards and upwards matey and faster times to come all being well? It has been a rollercoaster of a year so here's to a better 2024 and I look forward to seeing you again across when I've got my orange on doing my thing.
All the best to you Lee and family great vlog sorry to hear about the slight get off glad your ok , Neil not there for once and look what happens honestly. 😂 keep going keep on keeping on.👍
Awesome I'd as always pal cheers for sharing and continuing to do so 🙂 Super glad you're ok after your off 😬 heart welas in my mouth when you said you'd crashed 😯 Happy New Year to you and all pal 👍🏻👍🏻
Next year when you are out testing Lee, please drop me a line. I live about 3km from Palomares where you had breakfast (at Monikas) and I'm happy to come and help. We have a garage and spare bedrooms too, and you're welcome to stay and save a few quid. I'm one of Nialls fellow instructors at Silverstone, so I know how much gear you need to bring over. Steve
Don’t beat yourself up Lee, I think Whit commented if you don’t crash you’re not trying. Pleased you didn’t injure yourself, onwards and upwards Lee. Thanks for the video.👍👍
Hi Lee - happy new year. I would have thought the most difficult part of the crash was telling Neill about it! Another great vlog, thnak you for all your effort in sharing
Oh crap mate. I hope you are ok. I guess that's the nature of the game you are in. You didn't have to do a vid on this and it shows what a great person you are to put this out there.
Brilliant that your back, plus that first crash is out the way that’s got to be a big thing. I used to do track days on my own, never bothered me much, not sure if it’s the same in Spain but track day peeps are so helpful so your never actually on your own. Good luck in 24
Happy New Year Lee to you and your family....at least you had the chance to get away from all the wind and rain and have a good blast out on the bike... fantastic that someone lent you a bike to finish off your track day...hope you brought him a beer...😝😝
Let’s hope you’ve notice every part that was damaged…….if fact it it will be more entertaining for us if you haven’t, Neil is such a great watch when he’s got the hump.
What a great bloke to let you ride his bike. Top man
Not made of glass, you far to honest, I love it thanks Lee.
I absolutely love how straight forward and honest your videos are. No bull, warts and all look at the reality of being a racer. Keep em coming!
At least you survived without injury which is a blessing, and all that matters.
well thats it then no more letting you loose on your own, no more falling off either, come on Neil look after this lad
