This will get me lynched in many circles, but I liked this show MUCH better than the Transformers: Headmasters series...and this is coming from a lifelong Transformers fan. I've always enjoyed the GoBots/Machine Robo just as much if not a little bit more.
In the Transformers fanfiction I created for myself, in which the TF are originated by molecular atmospheric explosions that grant them armors and transforming powers, I also added a few Machine Robo. Yes, I use Gobots names since those are affiliated with Transformers, but they act more like the Japanese Machine Robo. For instance, Screw Head and Fitor are both Autobots. Screw Head has a facemask with visor matching Rod Drill's one and is engaged to MEDIC BOT REST-Q (yes Rest Q is a woman and saves lives along Ratchet, WHEELJACK, FIRST AID, MINERVA, PERCEPTOR and Blades... Ratchet, First Aid, MINERVA and Blades are women) . And Fitor uses sword like blue jet and is the SON of LEADER ONE, whose helmet mouthplate mirrors Eagle Robo's one. And also Bike Robo is an Autobot. I didn't use Cy Kill name, but BIKE-R. There are also GEEPER CREEPER (reserve combaticon... Here Combacticons are independent, not evil! ) and NIGHT RANGER (Harley Robo)... A FEMALE transformer that acts as reserve member of Protectobots. When transforming she morphs into the head of the robot, while the moto forms the Transtector. Elita One moreover has some traits in common with Leina (the martial arts with which she defends herself and the shape of her helmet, round but colored pink and with horns. Otherwise my Elita one is eager to fight as G1 counterpart and I added for her an healing power that works only with her lover Optimus Prime). Also some Decepticons are based on Machine Robo Gobots. For instance, Devil Satan Six B. K. A. Monsterous... Six enemies based on Hokuto no Ken 2 Shura with Monster Armors. Decepticreeps must deploy several sets of armors since many members of Monsterous are destroyed and die in action. My favorite group is the one formed by Kaen, Kunge, Kurov, Gurusu, Garenki and Kuijin (the bullet proof shura). The longer lasting group of Devil Satan Six wearers :D There are also Pincher and Scorp and their armors are used by two badguys like Xie (but slimmer and ends most of his sentences with warble "I am Pincher, warble" ) and Gyamon (scorpion shura). Not to mention the Sweeps, a huge army of bald head asura in Sweeps armor. Cannon fodder for Optimus Prime and other good guys. Only their masks have not mustaches. There are two Scourge under the mustached armor... One is Alf and then he is killed by Thundertron and replaced by his even more dangerous brother (based on Han). And Cyclonus is a female... A Diondora like erinni wearing a Cyclonus armor. Other female Decepticon is Strika, "pupil" of Apeface and Galvatron... The armor wearer is based on a "dark", "invisible", "tough" actress... She is after Blot, that killed Apeface, used her stiffened spine and head as a weapon and escaped his Decepticon captors until hooking up with Predacons. While Targetmasters are "independent" and do not fight for determined side, the Decepticons Headmasters are still very evil. There are Weirdwolf and Skullcruncher (their armor wearers are based on two bullies I was classmate at high school) and TWO mindwipe. The first user of mindwipe armor is based on an evil Italian comics character that is a celtic sorcerer and devilish hypnotizer. First mindwipe gets however incinerated by KARATE (KARATE ROBO... A guy resembling a certain Western comic hero, a half white half sioux warrior-sorcerer, wearing a Karate robo armor). Skull and Weirdwolf recover the armor and give it to a new female Mindwipe (another female curvy bully I was classmate at high school. You will pay for doing that surprise birthday party to humiliate me and fit your own needs, high school bullies!) There is also KENDO ROBO... in my continuity just KENDO. the nameless asura with Kendo Robo armor and able to turn into police car. However, while being a really strong fighter, Kendo is not merciless as Nameless Shura and is not an enemy preferring to fight only for himself. Not to mention SCOOTER, a little girl that can turn from humanoid robot to scooter, being adopted by Predacon (ENEMIES of decepticreeps that KILLED Razorclaw, Rampage and Divebomb, replaced by Zannar, Felin and Falcon)... She is based on Sara Scooter... But not dies :D I also created a FEMALE kranix, the armor wearer is based on a popular, sizzling and beautiful star trek actress with alien surname. And like my Scooter girl, also the wise female KRANIX survives my saga playing a pivotal role in the fight with DARK UNICRON :)
Man this is so hardcore right now it makes me wonder if I can wield the power of the wolf sword known as Ken ro which will give me the ability to summon the body of Ken Ryu and baikanfu because honestly I don't see what could possibly go wrong
In the French version of revenge of cronos, called Revanche of Gobots, the music played during the first fight between Baikanfu and Devil Satan 6 is the instrumental trace of French intro and not the Japanese 1st intro music...
Also DIACLONE concept was similar to ROBO MACHINE since the CYBERTRONS and the DESTRONS (or better, Megatron, Soundwave, the Seekers and Browning) were a combined force opposed to evil aliens. and more and more there were bigger robots just like in Robo Machine. Just imagine Convoy and Megatron fight together for the cause of good...as well as Stunticons, Combaticons, Animaltrons...I believe Insecticons and Terrorcons would have been anyway badguys (even if i would have been thrilled by a good-hearted BLOT)
Megatron, Soundwave and Browning are from Microchange, a spinoff of Microman - sentient like in Machine Robo. Diaclone however was (is) a separate line where humans pilot the robots to combat the evil Waruder aliens who pilot their own robots.

They’re subtitled from a bootleg dvd sourced from Hong Kong, I’m pretty sure it was translated to mandarin then to English with no proofreading afterwards. The only way to get this series with good subs is the discotek media blu ray.
Tonka got the rights to bring the toys, but not the series. Not sure what the turnaround on localization vs ground-up series would have been, but at least H-B was a good effort. it could have fallen into Filmation's lap, I suppose.
