Haydn is the father of the symphony. His music is amazing in harmony, grace and elegance. Viva Haydn a true genius of music that gives us unforgettable moments of pleasure and haunting music. Bravissimo
The shortened faux reprise in the first movement is witty and sets up the recap for further development after the repeat of the principal opening theme. The finale's recap strongly recalls that of the Symphony no. 3's finale, the counterpoint being far less developed here. Haydn is still working out the Finale Problem; this is an early Esterhazy work and its seriousness is in the opening 'Overture'-style slow introduction.
Even though there is not a slow movement in this symphony , Haydn makes up for it with what I refer to as a hybrid movement. It starts off with a slow adagio tempo punctuated by the muted horns and strings. Within three minutes, it progresses into an allegro molto with a much faster paced tempo. Another curious wrinkle that Haydn employs in his symphonic portfolio. Very interesting and well performed by Hogwood and his ensemble.
Anrew Martin Another interesting feature of this symphony occurs in the finale where we find a more sonata form type development of the opening four note motif; this contrasts with the fugal treatment of the similar idea found in Symphonies 3 and 13, it also appears in the slow movement of Symphony 11, and much later, in some Mozart symphonies including most famously, Symphony 41.
Another interesting feature is that it sucks! Just like jojo hidings other works!!! So dumb!! Such as symphony 105 funeral or 106 heaven!! My favourite composer is Joseph Bydin!!

@@elaineblackhurst1509 shut up neek!!!! I bet you’ve never experienced real music, the likes of dababy, a true heartfelt composer who’s works will shape the future until the worlds end, jojo hidings stinks and smells just like your opinion
