Yeah . The story was overall sooooo unnecessary that its should have a slider to turn the cutscenes off somehow .
You wanna go kill some monsters , get some items together , craft some powerful weapons and armor but then the story just comes out of nowhere and you either must button-mash your way into the fun or watch an unskippeable cutscene .
Its an actual great game but damn i wanna hunt monsters and not watch a movie !!!

@NikZedong nah, I think the gameplay changed completely in rise. World still has that old gen hunt feeling but they took away some of the clunkiness & made some new/better mechanics, ex: you can walk while healing but the health have some time to be full

It's good seeing you explore all those game, i started with World and Rise but it actually led me to emulate 4U and i've been having a blast, i'm considering trying FU after it, if only i could beat that bloody Gore Magala.. Congratulations haz, I can't play mhw but seeing someone I like play it makes me happy
Started on Tri, worked my way back and eventually found world which I didn't even know existed as a PC release for the longest time. I love all the old games, even the dumb shit like flexing after a potion, zone changes, monsters running back and forth and back and forth, the paintball and it wearing off all the time, all of it.
But honestly, World redefined the game in a way that brought me so much joy and fun, I'd argue its the perfect incarnation for a new generation, clutch claw and all.
That's right I said it, I like, no love the clutch claw mechanic.
I loved tenderizing as a hammer, I loved wallbanging the monsters, I loved ZSD spamming off tails for low rank hunters needing that carve, I loved how BADASS I felt when I finally mastered all it had to offer.
World for me, will forever be the gauge I measure the rest of the series by and honestly, I wish they'd released Rise first so I could have enjoyed that game. Its alright at best but despite some fixes they made to some really minor things like weapon appearance, the forge menues, it just lacks so much of the immersion, the meaning, the detail, the feeling and fancy that world gave us. I always just want more world when I play it.
