woodturning: an oak ball in the cubes ??

- Difficult turning on three axes to create this large ball emerging between the cubes.
The finish is made with a glossy varnish for the ball and mat for the cubes blackened with a torch.

Ce tournage a mis mes nerfs à rude épreuve,entre le risque de plantage dans les cubes ou les fissures et la géométrie sur trois axes qui se devait d’être parfaite sans quoi la boule n’aurait pu être réalisée..🤪

That was a fantastic creation! One thing which would give it more meaning for us viewers would be to glue some rather large brass balls on the opposite corners of one side and make that the bottom! I wonder how many videos by the myriad of turners on UA-cam "go south" and we never see them?

Nice work. I think if I were to do something similar, I would bore out the center of one side so if a person wanted to use it as a vessel of some sort they could, or that opening could just be on the bottom and no one would know it's there. Multi purpose uses...

Wood lathes which are mounted on silent blocks must not be bolted, otherwise the bearings will be destroyed.
