Perhaps instead of having an elaborate expensive fireworks show for 2020 for Sydney and other main cities in Australia that money would be better spent being donated to those whom have lost their homes to the fires and to the families of the firefighters that fought to ensure that people even got to have a Christmas this year in Australia Just a thought
Sydney's fireworks are a world-class event that boosts NSW's economy by $130mil. I don't know why over the last few weeks this topic has gone viral. Cancelling the fireworks won't do anything, if anything doing so will have a negative impact. The money has already been spent for one thing, and the event brings everyone together. I have been to this event every year since 2005 and it is a great day out for the family, and its free! It's a tradition that creates an amazing atmosphere, builds hope for the future and unifies us all. This is incredibly important in our multicultural society. You don't cancel an event like this due to an emergency or crisis, we should be using it to fundraise and 'help your mate' like true Aussies. We did this after the Asian Tsuanmi, lets do it again for the victims of the bushfires. Don't cancel a family event that brings us together when we truly need each other.
The fireworks should be stopped in respect to the families who have lost everything including family. Its ridiculous, and these frigging Politicians should be flogged if it does go ahead.
They aren't pointless though, the people that know the value of the show are the ones that have seen it for themselves. It's an awesome display and it creates an amazing atmosphere and a real feeling of unity. All the people that have signed this petition to cancel them are people that have never seen the show and or understand its importance to Sydney.
That's right it's a matter of respect; here we are, that's us, the selfish ones in the city shitting in the face of those who lost family and property. Who wants to go and watch the sparkles?

Oh stop virtue signaling
While your countryside burns and your people suffer, you set fire to a few millions pounds worth of pointless fireworks. Think about it!!!!
