The intro is perfect. I just bought my first Porsche and they have basically just created a very expensive version of airline status. You work for them; they don’t work for you.
It would STILL be exclusive at $85k.. I get what you’re saying but Toyota and ford are building $10-15k trucks.. sub $30 cars because they understand it’s getting bad/bitter and they want to survive. Porsche, if they want to survive they could build something fun that is attainable. You can tell me to get a base 714.. I’ll tell you I’ll drive a Miata like it’s a Porsche and forget about it.
I agree with Thomas. Give us a 911 T with a similar formula (manual, NA, fast revving, lightweight ) but not the GT3RS engine (just a basic 3.8 NA would be great) and sell it for $100k. Porsche won't be able to make enough.
Thomas is absolutely right. The reason why I love my s2000 is because it was a great car at a reasonable price. This Porsche is super expensive and super rare.. for no reasons
14:50 I would actually argue that you don't have to buy a 911 S/T to get this kind of experience, because a new ND Miata at 2,300 LBS offers a very similar drive to this car. Extremely light weight, a revvy NA engine, soft suspension, little sound deadening and a fantastic manual gearbox. But apart from that, this really is it. What a glorious machine.
Bro, thats like comparing me to Brad Pitt cause were both made of meat... You wont get this kind of out of a Miata, period. You dont get the precision, the feel, the raw power and responsiveness, the sound, etc... of this 911 in a cheapo, fragile steel and aluminum bodied roadster powered by an anemic straight 4 pot.
@@AI-qd4vb but you do get something that costs less than the adm of a gt3, let alone the car itself, and unlike a gt3, you can rev out 4th and NOT need to face jail time ;) or you can get a similar formula in a c6 z06, with actual power (500hp) and still have $300k left over
@@AI-qd4vb I can guarantee you haven't actually driven an ND if you call the engine "anemic" or the chassis "fragile". There's very little cowl shake to speak of, only over rough train tracks, and the engine is a wonderfully responsive unit with throttle response like a motorbike, and revs that drop the instant you go for an upshift. It is true the Miata is not a laser-precise machine, but if you watch the S/T review again, neither is that in comparison to the GT3. If you actually boil down what makes the 911 S/T special, the Miata offers pretty much the same kind of experience minus the horsepower, but even then the power it has is enough for someone that doesn't care about the number on the dash, rather how the car actually feels to rev out. For a tenth of the price, that's pretty damn impressive.
@@tyler9703 What you said. The catch the revs minigame, you play the same one in an ND. Single mass flywheel response? That's ND1. I can shake the car with even the quickest kicks of the throttle the exact same way James showed. And James knows this but nobody wants to hear him talk about Miatas in this review. This isn't to say the 911 S/T isn't my favorite sports car....because it is 100%%
@@AI-qd4vbOf course you can't get the same performance numbers out of a Miata. But you can get some of that FEEL of driving. It's got the right formula, only applied on 1/12th of the budget. 5.000 dollars isn't as much as 60,000 dollars...but it's made from the same paper and equally as green.
This is basically on the level of production quality, humor, and insight of the original Top Gear--a show I greatly miss. Thank you both for carrying on the torch!

My son and I went driving this past weekend and one of the dealers we went to was a Porsche dealer for a 2014 Cayman S. Firstly, the Cayman was a good driving car, the flat 6 sounded amazing and the PDK was the fastest I've driven. Having said that Porsche pricing is insane. This 10 year old Cayman S with upholstery damage, fender damage and PPF needing to be replaced was $45k. They had candy colored almost new 911 turbo S's in the showroom for $299k and $280 respectively, for used sub-1000 mile cars. Umm Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren, Aston Martin... I'll take a Z06 for almost 1/3rd the cost or a Lotus Emira for 1/3rd, F-Type R, SL 63AMG... Too many drink the Porsche Kool-Aid.

Unfortunately that's the scam Porsche is running now. Many reviewers have covered this including Chris Harris. The 911 has become so bloated/heavy, Porsche now removes stuff to save weight, then charge you more 😂
Great episode... But the funniest thing by far was the automated closed captioning on FireTV Cube, which kept interpreting the snapping, popping, and chuckling of the engine on off-throttle overrun as [Applause]. 😆

People do this just to be able to choose the spec and to get future allocations. In reality it's probably cheaper to buy second hand even with huge markups! Unfortunately that's the scam Porsche is running now. Many reviewers have covered this including Chris Harris. The 911 has become so bloated/heavy, Porsche now removes stuff to save weight, then charge you more 😂
@@AvidUTuberI have always said….”Porsche….pay more, get less!” !!!!
@@flyjbaker Uh that's Ferrari
My wife just asked me to turn the volume down while i watch this video. “I cant. Impossible”. What a beautiful car, and excellent video! 🎉
Love your work! Videos are so engaging, chemistry is there, funny, and informative. Keep it up guys!
Your guys' videos continue to amaze me.. beautiful shots and editing combined with amazing character. Awesome work as always.
4:58 spinning in 2nd gear that close to the redline...nice
This is an ST - Sports Tourer. The Touring part means it needs to be comfortable and equipped....
S/T actually stands for Shit Ton of money
Literally the best UA-cam car channel there is.
Idk why but I'm in love with what Porsche has been doing. With the GT4 and now this car. They really are keeping the car enthusiast alive.
11:09 "this is like feeding a gremlin after midnight, so naughty." WHAT Haha
The BRZ to 911 video transformation is fabulous.
That ‘twisted nipples’ comparison loool😂
Great episode... But the funniest thing by far was the automated closed captioning on FireTV Cube, which kept interpreting the snapping, popping, and chuckling of the engine on off-throttle overrun as [Applause]. 😆
23:18 I wasn't expecting that WhistlinDiesel name drop, but I'm here for it. You heard 'em Cody, throw shovels at it.
lol that Charlie & the Chocolate factory intro 😂😂. Lmao that ticket with the stipulations is SUCH a perfect representation of Porsche though.
I actually thought S/T would stand for Street/Track
Probably the most anticipated review on this channel for a good few months
that transition from the tS to the ST was amazing btw, great job
Well done guys. Considering how late to the party you guys are as one of the larger channels on getting this car, you crushed it. Some of the shots in this vid were so cinematic and beautiful. Clearly you guys continue to step up your quality and it shows.
Outstanding. You guys deserve to be the most-subscribed automotive channel on UA-cam. The best thing to come along since peak-level Top Gear.
Twisted nipples GT3!
That's a perfect analogy for the S/T!
They should have REALLY offered the S/T with the option of a duck tail, imo.
Yeah, the rear seems empty, but theres a Sport Classic, so I guess to make them more different it has none and because of Aero etc.
Instead they should have put the gt3's engine in the sport classic.
@@wolfgunther8325I really don’t like the lack of a wing on Touring cars. Just look imbalanced
@@A1steaktbh the wings put too much extra downforce on road cars which actually don't benefit from it.
Hahaha the Golden Ticket was 10000% spot on.
Beautiful video guys, you two never disappoint. That sound 🤌🏼
I will never understand how this team captures the feel of the driving so well, I mean Thomas and James are excellent hosts… but the cinematography, audio and editing are on some other level
this might just be the best intro you guys have ever made, hands down.
It's definitely good....but the all time greatest intro was the Prius episode! I watch it every few months just to laugh again.
... Save the manuals👍!!! That's what I got in my '23 Challenger ScatPack Widebody Shaker 🎉
Congrats on the Shaker! I recently purchased a 2017 Mustang GT 6 spd and we’re saving the manuals 1 car at a time🫶
@@bynjei2530 ... DEFINITELY 👍
@@bynjei2530... Congrats on the GT! And DEFINITELY 👍!
that intro was just brilliant! :D
Love the intro; you guys are back to your great level of humor. And the review was spot-on as always.
great vid guys! love it. one of the best ones you've done!
Röhrl said about the S/T „der beste“.
The most affordable way to get rear wheel drive, manual, NA is to buy an old BMW! (Mine is definitely not in at the garage waiting to be fixed, shhh)
You do know that Miata exist, don't you?))😅😅
You did not just put affordable and old bmw in the same sentence 😅😅
Used reliable light Miata and 86/brz for under 20k.
Obligatory C5/C6 Corvette comment.
I agree. My M3 e30, while only affordable these days in comparison to cars like this, will give you an experience like this and I have had the good fortune to put 300k miles on it daily driving. Buy an old e30 and drive it if you’re a regular person and want to actually drive this style of car.
I still think it’s pretty cool that Stephen Curry does car videos on the side 😅
11:54 is the greatest automotive tech breakdown ever. Lovvvvvve it.
Guys! What an excellent video! I’ve been following you guys for years and now you’re reaching top gear level of entertainment and production quality!
Intro ON POINT!
911 review! let's go!
Thank you Porsche for keeping the spirit alive.
Lol yeah. The limited to only those who buy 50 other Porsches so they can trade it amongst themselves for 4x sticker. So glad we all get cars like this.
We come back for more because of the antics and the storylines!!! It’s amazing, are y’all brothers because the relationship just works!!! Keep it up
You two r my favorite journalists. Been reading c&d, motortrend, automobile since I could read. I'm the same age as u guys. American. Love that whistlin diesel comment James is just flat out clever and funny.... gotta be when ur a quee bit shorter lol. You two r the best there is and....I VOTE YOU TWO THE NEW TOP GEAR.. UK. The good one. C'monn. I've seen everyone. I'm calling it, Thomas and James the new top gear presenters. Plus Carston the camera man or the gargantuan sound editor brotha as the 3rd host. There's Noone better guys n gals let's make this happen!!!!
The Intro is World class😂
Fave channel fs
Most accurate opening ever😂😂
Those throttle blips at 5:04 really show how absolutely visceral this flavour of 911 is! Long live the Porsche Boxer engine!
Hell of a car. Dont stop James & Thomas, youve breathed new life into this car scene
Haven’t even watched the whole video yet but I love these 992 Porsches so much. Especially the GT3 Touring and S/T.
Too big.
@@EvoraGT430 They are wide, especially when compared with an old 911, but I still love them regardless. They just look so good in person and are surprisingly high off the ground compared to other sports cars in this range/are more expensive. Slightly lower than a regular new 911, but still you get the idea.
People do this just to be able to choose the spec and to get future allocations. In reality it's probably cheaper to buy second hand even with huge markups!
And I bet some people will sell the S/T because they only bought it to get an allocation for something better in their eyes, like a Speedster or the 918 successor!
You were eating the plants!😂
😂😂😂
Guys awesome video, whoever does you filming, sound and editing are some of the best on UA-cam. You guys bring great content and in my opinion have managed to replace Top Gear via UA-cam. As for this car, absolutely incredible. Porsche is certainly hitting it out of the park in the last few years and this car is the perfect homage to the 911.
Setting the temperature to 69 degrees is the attention to detail that keeps me coming back to the channel. That and getting to see cars I don't have a snowball's chance in hell of ever sitting in
The acting is Netflix level
That introduction was perfection 👌 its really shown porsche losing their customers and sales due to lack of engineers and factory workers to make enough cars....kinda defeats the purpose having a rat race "waiting list" for just the stupidly rich.
Shortages are intentional to spike demand and, in turn, profits. This is the current business model everywhere because it works
