A big problem I have noticed with a lot of people over the years, especially witnessing teachers with dry erase boards, is not knowing that the cartridge inside is filled with ink and is meant to be pulled out via the tip. This means by way of gravity, if you use the marker with the top pointed down, and the tip pointed up (as most people do this without thinking while writing on the board) the ink will fall to the back of the marker, away from the tip. To remedy this and get a full life out of your marker, remember to keep the end of the marker above where the tip is in relation to the board, so the ink inside falls down TOWARDS the tip, not away from it. I've tapped a marker with the tip down a few times and started writing correctly, and it makes the marker work perfectly again. If it doesn't, then the marker really is dried out.
It worked, here’s what I did. So after pulling the back of the marker off ( the hardest part to do-I used jewelry pliers). I took out the ink holder and dripped rubbing alcohol to both ends. I did not soak it in rubbing alcohol, just enough to make it wet. Then I put the ink and back of the marker on, like it was. I put my marker upside down for 5 minutes and it worked on 12 marker. If your marker is completely dry, where it does no write at all, it might not work. Good luck 👍.
I got a pack of fine tip dry erase markers and only one of them actually work. So I did some digging and after watching your video I'm pretty sure they somehow left out the alcohol. Thanks for the video
The denatonium benzoate is probably just to make it very _very_ disgusting to drink so that children and animals won't poison themselves. The acetone will, like alcohol, evaporate very quickly and leave the ink behind on the board, making it good for dry erase writing. The only concern is that acetone might be able to dissolve the casing of the marker or the fibers within depending on what they're made of, or even the surface of the whiteboard.
I didn’t have rubbing alcohol so i used vodka lol and it worked wonderful.👍 it worked within minutes.
That rules
Outstanding!
a drink to that
That’s great!
Turn "Sip & Stroke" to "Drink & Draw" 😎
Thank ya teach! Saved me a entire box of Expo markers.
If you are still teaching, you are to be commended. Thank you for the tip!
Your welcome!

opticrainbow actually, it's just cotton with barely any ink. There is a lot of cotton in small little plastic tube. XD
That doesn't refute my point in any way.
I just came for a fix for my dry erase marker and ended up getting a growth professional course... Good service :D
Happy to help
It was very helpful 😊
I work in a factory. People leave markers open to dry out all the time.
We have barrels of isopropyl. Thank You.

What about double ended (chisel and point) dry erase markers? Any clues? There's no end to remove!
Pull out the chisel end, gently. Then add the liquid. And replace the chisel end. Cap.
I'll try it out!
How do you open the expo with the pilers. Need a tutorial

Can I refill with nail polish remover acetone (ingredients: acetone, denatonium benzoato) ? Thank you.

You can take the tip out and turn them on some markers both ends are the same
Did you say isopropyl alcohol?
He tried to. (He put an impossible double bond in it though, based on the extra syllable he added.) So, yeah. Rubbing alcohol.
Can you use paint thinner instead of alcohol ?
Did his phone start to ring at the end of the vid?
Damn, I got excited that I was receiving a call... :(
Darkhan Baimyrza lol I was like, which stupid app is that ringing 😂
Can v use sprit instead of alcohol
I have alcohol but my own pliers are too big for the end of the marker, what else can I do
Jewelry pliers should work or maybe tweezers if you pull out the felt tip instead.
That was very helpful. Thank you!
Why did this work the 1st time, only for a few hours, then tried again and nothing!
One time I road a shopping cart down a hill and cashed it in to a box of jolly ranchers being delivered to the quickie mart.
Isopropyl Alcohol makes a better bond with chenical bonds of pigments of paint and
dries slower and bigments will look fresher after being used
Why Isopropyl Alcohol and not simply water?
hey Mr.D math was fun today
I was confused if his phone started ringing to
too*
Instead of doing that just spray purfume on the tip on your dry erase marker I did that and it worked lol
That's actually interesting. I'm curious to try that for fun.
thank you
Dont these markers cost like 2 bucks...
Didn't work
School teacher takes a distraction and keeps on teaching... 🤔
when you realize you just bought a like $20 bottle of that alcohol and the markers are in the next aisle over for $3.99 -_-
did you get a 55 gallon drum?
Alcohol is incredibly cheap. You can get a $1 bottle that will last you years if you only use it for markers.
The purpose is to reduce our footprint on the planet. Recycle, Reduce, Reuse. That's one marker less in the landfill.
Actaully after using the trick in the video the markers are valued at $7.98..
Can you make a math video
