Jimny is made for the mountains and the people in the mountains are loving it.। Here the roads are narrow and big suvs are not practical.
Jimny actually looks quite small in real life. I am 6'1" and it appears very sleek and small to me.
The shape is boxy but it's surprising how such a small looking vehicle is capable so much.
Please don't get me wrong. Jimny is very practical and capable off-roader.
Jimny is a Mountain Goat and one can just glide through the risky, narrow, muddy, non-existent Himalayan roads without ever being bothered about getting stuck.
I do doubt the less torque figures of the K15B engine but the weight of the car is also comparatively less.
While Mahindra Thar is basically a Truck with insane torque while Jimny is an off-roader Car.
Thar is more of a fashion statement. Most Thar never ever see the real off-road conditions and they are driven in urban areas only.
Go to Chandigarh and you'll see what I'm talking about.
And in case, both Jimny and Thar ever get stuck, one can get Jimny out by just an extra hand without an extra help while Thar requires an extra vehicle or crane to tow and pull it out.
For the same Logical reasons, Gypsy was signed up as the Military vehicle as it could be airlifted and could conquer any terrain without the risk of slipping down the hill of even causing a landslide.
Does anyone here doubt the decision of our Indian Army as why it has always rejected Mahindra vehicles including Thar??? Please comment!
Well Jimny is now available at crazy discounts (upto 3+Lakh).
The automatic variant now costs even less than Brezza AT Vxi.
Now for 12L on road price, a RWD with Body on Ladder frame, also 4x4 and a 4 seater is being offered with 5 doors.
The petrol engine requires even less maintenance with full (oil-change) service costing around Rs.2.5K.
The low repair and maintenance costs have always been the USP of Maruti Suzuki.
And it will be valid for 15 years of ownership and even the used car market will stay crazy for Jimny. (just like for Gypsy)
Being a petrol engine, the car will also never cause issues of startup in snow or low temperatures unlike Diesel.
@@theBartSimpson still i have doubt,Thar is more capable, Jimny is underpowerd and has low water wading capacity. You don't need worry, you can go anywhere (for off-roading) without any doubt or tension but you need to Rethink with Jimny.
@@shubham_M7777 Mahindra Thar is definitely a more promising all-round off-roader and is certainly more capable.
As far as water wading capacity is considered, Force Gurkha has even lower water wading capacity due go its factory fitted snorkel.
Without snorkel, every vehicle including Thar may fail as the water goes deeper.
By definition, Thar and Gurkha are 4x4 Trucks.
While Jimny is just a 4x4 car.
All have their own merits and demerits.
Gurkha has better ingress-egress due to the rear captain seats and larger cargo volume along with highly reputed Mercedes engine 2.6L engine.
People tend to believe that Royal Enfield is meant to do Leh-Laddakh (I have had 500cc Desert Storm EFI since 2012 btw) but to everyone's surprise, I encountered a couple of college boys from Punjab doing the same trip with a 97cc Splendor along with a pillion rider.
Of course, 97cc is in no comparison to 500cc engine but the ground reality and practicality are far from paper specs.
Jimny with reduced prices (at around 12.5L on road) is a more value-for-money 4x4 off-roader and can also be used as a primary car in crowded traffic areas in urban cities due to its sleeker body.
The petrol engine of Jimny does not give startup issues as the Diesel does in low temperatures of snowy regions.
But also 90% of Royal Enfield and Thar owners never go off-road.
Most just buy those for their Macho looks that Jimny or splendor certainly don't deliver.

The main issues with Indian Automobile industry is the ban on imported sheet metal from Singapore.
So, rusting and cracks on tension zones will develop due to poor raw materials within India.
Please post ownership feedback on sheet metal and fastnets used on Jimny.

Upgrade to CNG, is to be avoided.
The combustion chamber and top end will get damaged over a period of time.

Rusting does not happen due to so called poor metal sheets, it happens due to consistent weather impact and not so great quality of paint used to keep costs under check. But that doesn't mean that the metal is poor and the paint is bad, Indian cars have outlasted the users historically.

We see reviews bcoz we want some value addition rather than just seeing specs & saying this nice. A reviewer has access to lots of vehicles which lets him tell which is good & which is not.

A proper off- roader at 12.7 L on road is a good deal.
Although power is very low compared to suv standards and built quality is still questionable but still it is value for money since it comes with all the basic features.
I advise people to wait for the BNCAP ratings and then go for the purchase.
Still more power to weight than Thar! But speaking generally, itne price me atleast 115 hp toh banta hai!

It has build quality of Tata (myself visited Nexa yesterday - They have shown that on official page as well - with 6 airbags in this cheapest model also - its definitely 5 star). VFM deal for 2 lakhs off. I bought GV sigma else would have considered this.

The car seems to be a right off-roader for India . Small enough to zip through traffic. And light vehicle for off-roading .. only worry is safety.. and the automatic could have been a 5 speed..

Hey mate, Brezza base model, which is barebones, monocoque platform and FWD costs 8.2 lakhs, so why must a 4x4 offroad built on Body on frame construction cost 8.9 lakhs? The 10.7 Lakhs right now is the best price one can expect for a Jimny, because now its the same as RWD Thar. It does have alot of part sharing, though its important to note, that Jimny is a lifestyle offroad vehicle. Its not made to be extremely spacious or practical. However it still provides a more spacious and better second row experience and a usable Boot that its rival Thar doesn't. Also for 3 lakhs cheaper price, the Jimny is still considerable more loaded than the Thar.
At this price real 4x4 is good

Price reduction of an overpriced 4 seat vehicle, even with a 2/4wheel drive but hardly any boot space. head or leg room, esp for a tall person, is no great deal. The price could be a little lower; permanently.
