However, the choice of language in a song is a musical, onomatopoeic decision. Languages sound different, have different rhythms, different melodies. You can't just sing a song in a translation. Something always gets lost. And not every language is good for rock. My German in rock/metal only really works when I do it the Ramstein way (and nobody really speaks German like that). German works pretty well for rap and anything with complex rhythms. But if I wanted to play rock music in a band, I would never choose German. The examples we have in Germany are - with very few exceptions like Die Ärzte - embarrassing. Nationalistic ideology (which is highly embarrassing and dangerous anyway) has no place in aesthetic decisions.

So, I know a Mexican-Canadian family, and a while back, probably last winter, I told them about The Warning. I was talking to the mother on Sunday, and I guess they must have been back for a visit, because she said to me: "You know that band you told me about? They are absolutely huge there! Everywhere you look, you see and hear The Warning!" Then I told her to check out Freeze The Fall.
I think it’s a key thing that they pushed back on that argument so directly and so hard while still teens. It’s important to kick back immediately and let them know you’re not going to take any shit. For the thousands of UA-cam videos I’ve watched I don’t see many of those economic and cultural criticisms. There are a couple prominent exceptions. But Facebook fan pages for The Warning are more prone to turning into a cesspool of idiocy.
TW have always been plagued by haters who complained that they sang primarily in English or that their patents bought them their careers (false). Not completely understanding the concept of malinchista has nothing to do with being white. It’s because you are not Mexican. Mexico is like the US, a heterogeneous society with whites, black, asians, indigenous. But Mexico was conquered by Spaniards. La Malinche was an indigenous woman who consorted with Hernán Cortéz, the Spanish leader, and bore his child. She is considered an example of a traitor - hence Malinchismo and a person who is a cultural traitor is a Malinchista. TW are proud Mexicans and are always touting their culture and food.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I enjoyed reading your comment. I agree that The Warning should be proud and I feel the Mexican people should be proud of them as well. It's hard for me to understand hating something that brings peace, love, and joy to something. ⚡️⚡️⚡️🤘🧸
Love this song and the attitude behind it! Although sad for the need for it, but Pau and The Warning definitely took the lemons and made lemonade. And, The Warning is having the last laugh - they just attended the MTV VMAs for the second year in a row - this time as actual nominees!
The crowd engagement at Pepsi Center was insane. So far seven of 23 tunes have been released. With any luck over the next few weeks, the rest of them will be available.we'll see the rest of them pop out.
Another great reaction, I absolutely agree with you on all points, and it’s good that you speak out on them. Too many reactors are just totally bland, no thoughts, no opinions, no interest!!! You can see why this and Evolve are their closers, and you’re right, this one was special. It’s happened a couple of times before with, I think, Lzzy Hale’s brother doing the drumming, but those are the shows (along with those where Ale helped out with the lead to save Dani’s voice) where anyone who was there will treasure the memory more than usual.
A couple examples of Dany and Pau fronting: Pau with Eruca Sativa in Argentina: ua-cam.com/video/ZRpy4jkjSZk/v-deo.html Dany with Three Days Grace in Canada: ua-cam.com/video/1xhGgoKsDTA/v-deo.html
Ale and Dany were very caseous during this song, because they had no idea about what Pau would do, so they where afraid to hit her with their guitars. And Pau running around and still singing with this strong voice. They should do this more often.
Paulina is PURE 💥TNT 💥!!!! This song, unfortunately, is not on any of their albums, but I found a way to buy this song from them and add this epicness to my Warning playlist. Narcisista is so full of attitude, rightfully so. This band was accused, by critics, of betraying their culture by writing and singing their songs in English. In every interview and many live performances, they are sure to let you know they are Mexican. They are true ambassadors to Mexico . Pau taunts “Criticize me a little more, I find myself entertained.” So, The ONE thing in all this world, you DON’T do, is piss off Paulina !!! There have been 4 performances of this song where they bring out a guest drummer and allow Pau to go to the front of the stage and sing. The first time was at their Teatro Metropolitan CDMX concert in 2022 when Beto Ramos (Pau's drum teacher) filled in. Later in 2022 during the last two shows they opened for Halestorm, Arejay Hale sat in with them, and one other time in 2023 when Cachi (their usual guitar/bass tech who is actually a drummer by trade) filled in. ⚡Viva The WARNING⚡ NWSU/FloorFan/Epican/Ayreonaut/TWA 🤘😎🤘.
Thanks for sharing. I always appreciate reading your comments. I agree whole heartedly with your sentiment about them being Mexican ambassadors and they should be Proud of that. As always, appreciate you! ⚡🤘🧸
Poseiden: Release the Kraken! Zeus: No, we need total destruction. Poseiden: RELEASE THE PAU! Fun fact, Dany and Ale were worried about hitting Pau with their guitars. She's just a crazy person when she's free to move. Final thought, they are a Mexican rock band, and the world loves them. People around the world are learning Spanish and trying to embrace Mexican culture because of them. I can't think of better ambassadors. ❤️⚡🤘
Knew you'd start to lose your mind on this one. Pau unleashed is Amazing. I"ve disagreed with other people who said she should do this more often because I feel like keeping it rare keeps it that much more special. Also, I can't get enough of her dancing while playing the drums and singing. But, once in a while seeing her go nuts is a damn treat. How many bands/execs would do unholy things to have Pau as a frontwoman? And we get her as an amazing drummer that occasionally sings lead. How blessed are DPA that they have each other and we get to enjoy these performances. Also, I'm not Mexican but I cannot disagree more strongly with anyone buying that malinchista BS. DPA are always very vocal about how proud they are to be Mexican, how important their culture is. They are the right kind of ambassadors. Apparently first drafts of this song were much 'ruder' and their mom talked them into being less harsh of their critics. I love Narcisista but sometimes think they could absolutely have gone harder.
I mean I wouldn't have been mad at a little more angst 😂You're so right about how there are many a band who would LOVE to have her as their frontwomen but luckily for us, "The Warning" is where they are here to stay! ⚡🤘🧸

If you want to see Dany and Pau out of their place there are 2 other performances worth watching, both with their friends the Argentinian band Eruca Sativa. 1. Dany getting the honor of singing lead on their biggest hit at a show in Monterey a year ago: "Eruca Sativa - Fuera o Más Allá (feat. Dany - The Warning)", 2. and not at least, Pau going crazy, unfortunately we can hardly hear her mic, but those air-kicks!: "The Warning - Trio Tour Argentina Surprise! Nirvana´s "Breed" (Live Cover) w/ ERUCA", and there are many recordings of 3DG with Dany, I think this is the best: "Three Days Grace - Painkiller feat. Dany of The Warning // Kitchener, ON". And Pau on her own with her Piano at a conference where got a prize for just being Pau: "Paulina Villarreal de The Warning | Decididas Summit 2024". (and her acceptence speak: "Decididas Global Award: Paulina Villarreal | Decididas Summit 2024")
"They should be ashamed..."? Really? Bullshit. How about this is the first time Americans have thought of Mexico apart from cartels, fentanyl, criminal immigration and human trafficking in about 30 or 40 years! Mexico is FULL of amazing culture that's completely hidden because of the damage done on both sides! This is an export they should all be PROUD OF and shouting from the rooftops for! A chance to FINALLY be real neighbors and not just freinemies/business partners! I'm so proud of them I could burst! Kids are gonna want to learn Spanish because of them! This is for everyone's good, so embrace them! I'm looking at you American radio! Well, this turned into a rant😮. Sorry 'bout that
No worries. I agree they should be proud of The Warning. Nothing but positive things they bring to the world. No reason to tear that down. Appreciate you! ⚡️🤘🧸
I’m relearning Spanish so I can understand their (and related) interviews. I took Spanish for several years in high school but… well let’s just say that was a long time ago.
@@NM-tr6kq Lol! Yeah I flunked Spanish 42 years ago. Learned more when lived in Phoenix from billboards written in both languages! Almost got conversational at one point. I think every city should do that with all signs. It'd be expensive though.
JF- you probably saw it by now, but if not- check out the several concerts where Dany was invited by Three Days Grace to sing "Painkiller"- Dany is without guitar and is insane! Just love this with Pau, too. Wish to hell that Ale would solo more- her voice is like nice smokey bourbon and they don't bring that out enough. I know she's a bit shy being the youngest.
Awesome - and you are going to have a great time with them live! I'll never understand the hate against The Warning for singing in English - do other artists face that? Do Finns say "Nightwish has betrayed us"? And where are the limits of malinchism? What about UK rockers singing with an American-tinged accent? Do people from New Jersey pour scorn on Bruce Springsteen because he uses a slightly more Southern accent when singing? Utter nonsense.
...TW coulda taken the easy road and became some cheesey pop ir RnB band and had more exposure n probably success...they stuck 2 what they enjoy n love n created their own exposure n success n stayn true 2 themselves n their craft...we r blessed cuz of that...
Some things Pau has said in interviews about all this stuff you talked about: Writing songs in Spanish is very tough for them. Early in their career, they were received way more internationally than in Mexico. And finally, Keep Me Fed features her less on lead vocals because of the amount of energy she was using live singing and drumming and adding more lead heavy songs wasn't sustainable. Props to her for writing that song in the first place.
There's a chance Pau might be out front again for this song during their Canadian tour. They're opening for Halestorm and Evanescence. Lzzy and Arejay Hale are friends of theirs, and Arejay has done drums for them before. We can at least hope at least, for another unleashing of the five foot inferno!
OHHH I DIDNT EVEN THINK ABOUT THAT! I don't believe they are coming near me for that tour. I am going to need to double check that. Appreciate you friend! 🙏💜🧸
@@JohnnyFoxtrotshow Nowhere near me either, but I'm sure The Warning Army has us covered for videos. The sound quality's not the best, but the energy is. Pau's loose on vocals, and well... ua-cam.com/video/ZRpy4jkjSZk/v-deo.html

I enjoyed reading your comment. Appreciate you! ⚡️⚡️⚡️🤘🧸

Pau was moving around so much that apparently Dany and Ale were worried they were going to whack her with an instrument :D

Thank you so much! And absolutely, there is just something different about those songs and how they perform them. ⚡️⚡️⚡️🤘🧸

Ale and Dany were very caseous during this song, because they had no idea about what Pau would do, so they where afraid to hit her with their guitars. And Pau running around and still singing with this strong voice. They should do this more often.
🤣🤣That makes me laugh in retrospect. She is out there KILLIN it and they are like "I hope I don't hit her". That's awesome.

Dany and Ale said in an interview the only thing they worried about with this song was running into Pau while she was running around
🤣 🤣 that's awesome!
Pau taunts “Criticize me a little more, I find myself entertained.”
So, The ONE thing in all this world, you DON’T do, is piss off Paulina !!!

I completely agree! That's hilarious how they were worried about hitting her 😂

Sold out shows in Mexico, and the crowds singing along in English, Spanish and French (Amour). I think the nay-sayers are rightfully a minority.
I'm not giving no more time to the discussion. If The Warning aint worried, neither am I! Appreciate you! ⚡🤘🧸

Dany - The Warning)",
2. and not at least, Pau going crazy, unfortunately we can hardly hear her mic, but those air-kicks!: "The Warning - Trio Tour Argentina Surprise! Nirvana´s "Breed" (Live Cover) w/ ERUCA",
and there are many recordings of 3DG with Dany, I think this is the best: "Three Days Grace - Painkiller feat.
Thank you so much for this suggestion. I am writing them down now So I do not forget. Appreciate you my friend! 🤘🧸
I have NOT seen this yet. A few have mentioned it. I'm going to bump it up on my list! Appreciate you my friend! ⚡🤘🧸

Absolutely. I completely agree that they should make the Music that They want to Create. Appreciate you! ⚡🤘🧸
Agreed. Appreciate you! ⚡️⚡️⚡️🤘🧸

If you want to see another, entirely different performance by Pau up front, here's the live collab/cover of Nirvana's 'Breed' that they did with Eruca Sativa. The sound quality's not the best, but the energy is. Pau's loose on vocals, and well...
