Thank you very much for reacting to this, Chris ! You know, this is a song I wouldn't recommend to just ANY reactor, or just ANY human being. I almost feel bad for putting you through it, but I'm also very happy that you reacted the way you did. I guess this song touches you even more when you're aware of the story behind it, like many people here in Norway do. Or at least more peole here than most other places, as both Susanne and Lene Marie Fossen are Norwegian. The fact that the two were close, personal friends just makes this SO incredibly beautiful IMO. Such a beautiful tribute to Lene the artist, but also Lene the human being. As much as she struggled with her anorexia herself, she never failed in portraying those in need and that somehow were even worse off than herself. Having watched the documentary "Self Portrait" also adds another dimension to it. But even without this knowledge this song and video just pulls on you. The emotional roller coaster you get from seeing the despair, the hope, the beauty, her harsh illness, mixed with the "when the Lord" message is very special indeed. So thanks again, my friend. What always gets me in this video is the refugee kids, Lene’s mother crying at the photo exhibition plus Susanne by Lene’s bedside at the hospital and when the imagery is suggesting she «went out the door» and you see a bright light (suggesting she has passed on) and her mother is hugging someone. 😢 I wonder how other people interpret the imagery. Like those blurry photographies that seem to be of Lene with just a face from the side?
No worries about the waterworks, this music video should come with a warning; bring tissues... 🌊💧 It's the "music video" for this song, but song is written for the documentary "SelfPortrait". It is a documentary about the young photographer Lene Marie Fossen, who decided to stop eating at a very young age, and developed anorexia. A documentary I recommend, it should be mandatory in every elementary school or at least high school. It's raw and touching, and straight to the bone. Susanne Sundfør is a Norwegian singer, she's had hits w film music for Oblivion (Tom Cruise) She's born in 1986, same year as the woman in the documentary (maybe they were friends growing up) and we see Susanne in a glimpse sitting by the bed in the hospital. Susanne has already released 6 solo albums and won several musical awards in Norway.

We’re maybe overloading you emotionally, Chris?! Beautiful reaction, to a very hard hitting visual self portrait overlaid with Susanne’s music and song. It seems Norway brings forth an exceptional female singer/songwriter every 10 years or thereabouts. To bring you back on an even keel, I’d suggest Home Free’s new “Snow Globe”, harmonies on harmonies; or for some fun their “Honey, I’m Good” always leaves a smile on my face! What(who)ever you do, I’ll enjoy your reaction 🎄🛌
Great reaction as always👍 We have a lot of great female singers in Norway, and of course male singers 🥰 Pssst! Check out Ina Wroldsen with “St Peter” live, and “Favela”, and “Lay it on me” acoustic version. She wrote Favela after being in Brazil🥰 She is also a Norwegian singer with a beautiful voice. In fact, she’s the one singing “How deep is your love”, and she wrote it as well. When Calvin Harris bought the song it was acoustic, and he mixed it up. But he didn’t want Ina on the song as featured Ina Wroldsen, even though she sing the song 🙄 But listen to “St Peter” first, I think you’ll like it👍 It’s a true story from when Ina went to Africa with the aid organization PLAN🥰
Ina Wroldsen has written a lot of songs for other artists like: Demi Lovato: Lionheart Britney Spears: He about to lose me Shontelle: Impossible Shakira: Empire And many more👍

This Song is from her Soundtrack and a tribute to now dead photographer Lene Marie Fossen. Soundtrack "Self Portrait"
Ohhhh, good to know, thanks!
Susanne Sundfør. "Silicon Veil" (Live at Skavlan 2012)

💓💓💓💓💓💓
Great reaction as always👍
We have a lot of great female singers in Norway, and of course male singers 🥰
Pssst! Check out Ina Wroldsen with “St Peter” live, and “Favela”, and “Lay it on me” acoustic version.
She wrote Favela after being in Brazil🥰
She is also a Norwegian singer with a beautiful voice.
In fact, she’s the one singing “How deep is your love”, and she wrote it as well. When Calvin Harris bought the song it was acoustic, and he mixed it up. But he didn’t want Ina on the song as featured Ina Wroldsen, even though she sing the song 🙄
But listen to “St Peter” first, I think you’ll like it👍
It’s a true story from when Ina went to Africa with the aid organization PLAN🥰
Ina Wroldsen has written a lot of songs for other artists like:
Demi Lovato: Lionheart
Britney Spears: He about to lose me
Shontelle: Impossible
Shakira: Empire
And many more👍
So sad to see her die from an illness such as this.
you should listen to Ina Wroldsen - St. Peter and Sigrid with dynamite (acoustic) both are from Norway
Don't know very well Susan's discography, but there is a song I love : White Foxes
I love watching you react. I missed hearing your background? Your comments are never mean or nasty so thank you. Finding several new people to listen to.
Thanks Dianna! You are so very kind! Happy New Year!
like aurora Sussane is a Norwegian and also amazing artist. you should check her more 🤘🤘🔥🔥
Where can I make a suggestion to a reaction to not disrespect this artist?
Please listen to Oblivion by M83 and sung by this same artist 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Norse (Norwegian) Artists for you: Aurora Aksnes, Einar Selvik (Wardruna), Angelina Jordan, Maria Franz, Sigrid Solbakk, Allan Walker, Anne Nørdsti, Astrid Smeplass, Susanne Sundfør, are just some of them.
Sivert høyem (Madrugada) is also pretty impressive. He does have a different vocal though. Low and unique.
.. who is Sigrid Solbakk? Do you mean Sigrid Råbe?
@@heidifarstadkvalheim4952 she has two last names doesn’t she?

Susanne did the soundtrack to the "Self Portrait documentary". A very strong emotional journey. 😢. Thank you for this.
I know you are a big fan of music that touches you on an emotional level. I would love it if you checked out "Honest Men" by Janet Devlin. (ua-cam.com/video/w79qlLPsaPk/v-deo.html)
Thanks Rune! I will add this to the list!
@@larryshair ahhh I look forward to it 🥰
@@larryshair Thinking... "Honest men" is really a great song, but quite dark. Its part of a truly lovely put together album, and you might feel the song a bit out of context... but I hope you will like it anyway.
If you want to get a good feel of this artist, you may want to check out "Chandelier" first... ua-cam.com/video/M4iz-Fxtmes/v-deo.html
psst..
Maria Franz - Songleikr: Ulvetime

lol, ok on the list!
Susanne did credit to the anorexic artist, Lenexa. This gets me every time. Whenever was 10 she decided not to eat any more. I have no idea why. It's amazing she lived along as she did. Your reaction was so good.
Oh my! I see somehow the wrong name was showing for the artist. It should have said Lene.
@@patriciamoore6492 she stopped eating at 10 because she wanted to stay a child, she was afraid of growing up. She never hit puberty and stopped growing at all from that point
:( even her voice stayed very young.
@@Miamia_01 interesting and sad. Thanks!
🙏🇳🇴
Psst! Check out "ill mind of hopsin 7"
lol, on the list.
@@larryshair please add joyner lucas- i'm not racist to the list too! I promise you won't regret it! 😊
That was beautiful love your reaction. I would love if you reacted to Morissette Amon who I think is the best female vocalists there is. She is the best one breath control vocalists in my option in the world and she does it sitting down. The song is called Akin aka Nalang. I hope you give her a try please and thank you.
So beautiful.
I am glad you are willing to branch out in your music reactions.
I would love for you to react to Avi Kaplan.
Technically/Classically he is listed as a Basso Profundo but has a very nice 5+ octave range and is also a polyphonic/overtone singer, so he also has a whistle voice.
With an offer from the L.A. Opera, he made a decision to join the newly forming A Capella group
Pentatonix with whom he remained for 6 years.
He left them in a total state of mental breakdown.
Most of his songs are centered around healing and restoration.

Music nice but spoilt to understanding words
When The Lord
Susanne Sundfør
Let me go back
To when I was young
Here, I was born
Here, I will die lonesome
Let there be light
Let there be love
Hear the bells
Ringin' our song
Wake me, wake me, wake me up, my darling
When the Lord has descended on us
All the worries that you carried with you
They are lost in a warm embrace
Timelessness
Far away
From the land
Where love is shame
And shame is love of a prison
Away from the dark
Snow-covered hearts
Softly, lay your hands on me
Wake me, wake me, wake me up, my darling
When the Lord has descended on us
All the worries that you carried with you
They are lost in a warm embrace
Timelessness
