      Yeah, I was thinking about it. The high water levels in reservoirs have been tough on bank fishing but it all looks good. Folsom is usually a winter spot for me but this year, who knows!

    The fishing is best in the lake when there is more current flowing through. Especially in the fall during a high water year. The steelhead/residents come down from the rivers to feed on the minnows that stack up on the drop offs of the river channels. We troll for the salmon when the rainbows aren’t in there. Glad you caught a few!

      You seem to have this lake wired! I usually get some nice fish from the bank when it's cold. I saw several boats trolling out there and I figured they were mainly targeting Salmon. I'll be back out there when I'm in town visiting for the holidays and hopefully it is cold enough for the lake to have turned over. Thanks for tuning in and I hope you enjoy my content across my various playlists.

    I reside in Minden, Nevada, on Johnson Lane just short of 50,000-acres of BLM land. There are 131-houses in the Skyline Ranch home owners association where I live. I bet 100-home owners here have never stepped one foot in the desert behind their house. I also bet the guy that is giving you a hard time about not being in the wilderness lives here. I have been walking a mile in the desert from my house and have seen 5 to 6-coyotes in a pack. If that isn't a true wilderness experience, I don't know what is. Too many couch potato haters in the world. Love the videos.

    • @wildernesswithamani1027
      @wildernesswithamani1027  3 роки тому +1

      You are taking full advantage of what is readily available to you which is something the majority of people never look into. A wilderness experience to me is where ever you can steal a moment of that serenity that comes with being in the outdoors. I lived down in Mission and Pacific Beach for a couple of decades and when I was sitting out on a surfboard or swimming in the waves it was totally a wilderness experience for me even though the party raged on at the Boardwalk on the other side of the sand. It was serene out there and often a pod of dolphins would cruise buy just out of reach. There are often opportunities like the ones we describe all around us. Take the easy stuff!

    Amani, trust that you had the opportunity to share time with family.
    Ignore the negative feedback, perhaps that person has not seen your clip when you encounter two bears and a rattlesnake on the same day.
    Keep in mind, the Blue Lakes in the Hope Valley area offer great fishing and isolation. I prefer Upper Lake. Please note, if you camp, use the bear boxes!
    Also, in the same area Tamarack Lake is a location you will appreciate, isolated.
    At Caples Lake and others I have been quite please casting a bobber, five feet of leader and a piece of a night crawler. I cut the night crawler into thirds, as it leaks into the water fish kill it.
    Personally, I am 0 for 3 on the Truckee River.
    Take care and be safe.

    • @wildernesswithamani1027
      @wildernesswithamani1027  3 роки тому

      Thanks for the insight. I logged in some family time. They expect me to go fishing every time I'm in town. Been doing it when I show up around the Holidays for over 3 decades! I was mostly laughing about that guy. He didn't bother me in the least. I got a nice mac from shore at Caples but that was the only bite I got fishing sun up to sun down! Got a clip for that on my lakes and reservoir playlist. I have a bunch of clips for the Truckee on two playlists. I started fishing 1/.8 OZ jigs in the Truckee the first time I fished it last June and never looked back. That started my Truckee River Streak Playlist. Those jigs are tough to fish but with practice you can get through a day without losing one and you can hit some real nice trout. Thanks for tuning in and for the kind sentiment.

    Man, I would love to see a vid on Natoma. That place is so hard to fish from shore.

    • @wildernesswithamani1027
      @wildernesswithamani1027  3 роки тому +2

      Natoma is one of those places where I would sit and soak bait for hour with nothing but every so often I would hit a real nice trout weighing several pounds. The last 2 state record rainbows came out of Nimbus Flats and Negro Bar State Parks. I find the fishing to be best in that area across from the college rowing center in January and February. Don't go in with high expectations but if you get a fish to take your bait, don't miss that strike because you probably won't get another chance. I'll fish it again when I am visiting over the holidays.

It's on my rivers playlist and I have a clip for Caples Lake on my lakes and reservoirs playlist. In the same area, I have a clip for Winnemucca Lake on my Alpine Lakes playlist and I have the hike to that lake out of the Carson Pass trailhead on my hiking playlist.
