Don't mind Igbos o. They are simply selfish. When something favours them they pursue it, even if it is against others. It is when it turns against them that they protest and expect others to join them. Awolowo wanted the British to grant independence to each region separately, Zik opposed it. That was why Nigeria didn't get independence early bcos when western region moved for independence, others were not ready. Then in 1954, Awo said if they cannot give independence separately and they must give Nigeria as a whole independence, then the constitution should allow any region that wants to leave at any time to go, Zik again opposed it and convinced the north to support him and that secession clause should not be in the constitution. Everything was favouring Igbo at that time. Zik was to be governor general. The civil service was dominated by Igbos. Igbos were in the top leadership of military. Kenneth Dike their son was the VC of the only university in Nigeria which was in Ibadan. Ojukwus father was chairman of Nigerian stock exchange. So for Nigeria to be one favoured them. So they opposed any split of the country. Then in 1966 when they carried out first coup they ensured they didn't kill any Igbo top politician or military officers. But they killed northern officers like Maimalari, Largema, etc and killed Ademulegun with his wife and Sodeinde. They killed Balewa, Ahmadu Bello, Akintola, Okoti Eboh (Itshekiri) but they left Zik, Mbadiwe, Nwafor Orizu. And when coup failed they handed over to their brother Ironsi. When Ironsi took over Awolowo wrote him from prison begging for his release. Ironsi refused. It was when Gowon took over that he released Awo. So should Awo now turn against Gowon and support Igbo secession from all these history that Igbos have opposed it? When Adaka Boro tried to secede with niger delta, Ojukwu and Ironsi opposed him and got him arrested. But when Ojukwu now decided to secede, he wanted the same Niger delta to support the secession. Do you remember June 12? How many Igbos supported the struggle? Arthur Nzeribe was one of those IBB used against June 12. I recall all this to show that Yorubas have not betrayed Igbos. It is Igbos that never cared about Yorubas as long as things favour them. Look out how Yorubas were marginalized under Jonathan while it favoured Igbos. Igbos kept quiet bcos they were favoured. But when buhari took over, they intensified Biafra agitation. Yorubas should never feel guilty at all. And Yorubas should fight their cause without depending on anybody. If they join bcos of their own interest too, then no problem.
