When we tell people that Akoko people are not Yoruba but originally Bini sub-tribes, those who want to expand the Yoruba race by means will get angry. Speaking Yoruba language doesn't mean someone is a Yoruba. Yoruba is a confederacy of several tribes with distinct language and culture but united with a language crafted from several dialects and sources.
Akoko is yoruba. You don't need to generalise all Akoko. If some of them don't speak yoruba that doesn't mean they are edo why not Kogi?

Secondly, Akoko, just like Oba, Ogun, Osun, Eko, Oshodi, Idumu, Kosoko, Ondo, Ekiti, Oluokun and others are exclusively Bini words and name. Akoko is never a Yoruba name. So, try and take time to learn. The real Yoruba people do not make noises. Only those with questionable background uses the cloak of Yoruba to identify themselves. Your name is Ogunleye and you have no idea that the Ogun there is a Bini word and name. All you think you are and were borrowed. So, let that sinks in first. If you want to argue, first delete the Ogun from your name and then we can discuss properly. Thanks, and have a pretty week.
