Kai Tracid is a German DJ and producer who has been active in the music scene since the mid 90s. Some of his most well known releases are tracks like “Life Is Too Short”, “Too Many Times”, “Your Own Reality”, “4 Just 1 Day”, “Liquid Skies” and of course “Trance & Acid”, which came out in the year 2002.
And this classic is the one I got to speak about with Kai, in this week’s vlog!

What is your favorite album of Kai Tracid?
"Trance & Acid" and "Skywalker 1999" are great, but my favourite album by far is "Contemplate The Reason You Exist".
Hard to say, Kai is one of my favorite artists
I'd only listened 2 singles during 1997-98 from Dancepool albums later discovered they were from an album "Skywalker" so yeah this is my favourite Kai Tracid album 🤩👌🕺🕺🕺🕺
Trance & Acid - other albums are also very very good, fav Tracid track has to be Your own reality

He didn't want to release a remix from Moby because he felt it would be sub standard, even though he would've undoubtedly gotten big exposure from that? That must've been a very tough decision. Wow, huge respect for Kai! It's always about the quality of the music for him. Big respect!
4 Just 1 Day is also a good track. Kai Tracid is one of the biggest DJ's from the classics time.

I remember back in the day in 2003 when I heard this song first time in German viva club rotation:) I really really miss these times when trancr music, not only mainstream edm was in TV and radio.. 18 years (omg!) flew too fast...
He was one of those DJ's that wasn't super famous but had a special place in my heart, a bit of niche i must say. Really a bad ass quality dj.
I was constantly consuming Viva TV at the time when Kai was dropping all of his best productions. TV was on peak volume at 7 in the morning, right before school.
Kai Tracid - My first ever major event MOS Hard NRG Tour Perth Western Aust. I closed my set with this bangin tune that everyone went off too including me! I was asked to mix an after party for that one or maybe another event, but it was called "Spiritual Healing" and I closed the gig with the track also. Nearly 6am and mixed it & I'll never forget the power of Trance & Acid that morning! 💪😁
Kai is Genius. And a guy who's hard trance track & label in general shaped such a genre as hardstyle.
He is for sure! Very happy with all 3 interviews I got to do with him! :)

I am so glad I lived in a time when a tracid traxx dropped in a club in the UK and the place went mental, such a good label

This track was HUGE at the time and was played in sets for years to come (and still played!)
too many times: cannot say how many places i have rocked with that track, simply magical - simple acid but so damn effective - thankyou Kai
We need more labels like HQ Recordings & Hard Trance Revolution who keep the spirit of Hard Trance alive. It's a sound so fresh and unique.
‘Music is like fast food’ sums up the industry today in one sentence! Hundreds and hundreds of tracks released each week makes finding good music tedious and time consuming.. what I would give to go back to an afternoon in a record shop!!
Trance and acid gets me every time, what a great track. Adam Beyer played it in the end of his virtual awakenings set this year, just before the andor voyage (which is another timeless classics) and it was awesome. Thank you so much for the interview.
such a great approach with playing new and old tracks. people always come to hear at least some of the classic tracks which the dj is mostly known for.
My favorite album was "Trance & Acid". And the Bad Shape was a kick ass track. Amazing!
The song is so simple yet has so much attitude.
He nailed it for me when he said that music these days is like fast food! Music really doesn't have the same feel as before!
My intressing to Kai was beginning 1997 with Track’s Youre own Reality Dance for Eternity from Skywalker album I like his Pure Trance and Acid Techno Sound 🙏🙏🙏🙏
This was one of the tracks that got me into Electronic music. One of my favorite tracks of all time!

A real musician, you can feel the passion and love for what he is doing, i totally agree with him on massive track production, it is shallow and empty. Glad he is back in the business.

Great interview again! Unfortunately Trance & Acid was made after my out going days, so it never really gave me that great feeling his Formid Acid - Eternia did. That's still one my favorite tracks ever, such a blast and timeless masterpiece.
That's a pretty good one! I bought the ZYX CD many years ago. I also really like some of Kai's other very obscure tracks like Formic Acid - The House 666, Arrow - Indic and Aeon FX - Human Race.
Trance & Acid is a good track though it overshadows Kai's other works quite a bit

One of my fave producers from the 00's and Tracid Traxx was my fave label. So many outstanding tracks, Kai's blend of tough acid bass lines with amazingly uplifting and melodic breakdowns was unbelievable. Conscious the Energy mix was my fave track along with For Just One Day.... Awesome btw you Euro guys speak better English than a lot of English people. 😂

@@deejayarczi Trance & Acid released in 2002...Trippin´ Out released 1995..do the math.. Trippin´Out is the right track for me...real underground at that time... Trance & Acid is good but too commercial. I would love to hear Misjah point of view ;)

T & A is probably my most favorite Kai Tracid tune. It's a timeless tune and I enjoy listening to it at the festival/ clubs and at home. A nice interview. Good job as always, Twan. 👍🏽🙌🏽

This was brilliant Twan, I really enjoyed it mate. The back story & snippets of information, especially the feelings behind some of the darker tracks, such depth. It also made me think of Dumonde, the harder German sounds of that time always played well with the Tracid Traxx & Druck etc..

I first heard Trance & Acid sample back in the days in a trance track "Trippin' Out" by Mizjah. I prefer Tracid version though because it introduced me to his other works.🔥

Another interesting Vlog of a phenomenal producer who was quite mysterious when I was back at uni, i heard he stopped producing and got into yoga until he started up with Mogui last year, which is promising :). It sounds awful that he suffered during the process of the pressure of being ripped off by the industry. Trance and Acid is a top tune the Best album, it comes from his heart ! He's a very humble chap and I wish him every success in the future. Poor chap, i wish him well and look forward to his new mix with moguai. Good work Twan :).

"Derb - Derb" is on my loooong interview-wish list as well, but as explained a few times already, for now I can only interview people that are based in The Netherlands. Because of the pandemic it is pretty difficult to get names from abroad because there aren't any gigs / events, plus I can't cross the border either. So when things are better again (and once I have enough time / travel budget for another Frankfurt trip), I would love to do an interview with Derb for sure! :)

Fantastic channel and interviews! I was digging around history of techno/hard trance and came up with this channel. Amazing. Would it be possible to make interview with Kai Winter who together with Michael Hennes is behind of extraordinary hard trance tracks like First Step (probably one of the first reverse bass?), Second Trip, Sound of Rock and their absolutely perfect remix Polar Lander. Im really interested of their works and would be nice to hear what do they talk. I once contacted with Michael Hennes through social media to ask about their music and which instruments they used back then, but he told that Kai Winter would be better to answer those technical questions. Much appreciate all your content what you bring for us here!

And yes, they are on my (loooooong) wish list, but for now I can only do interviews with people that are based in The Netherlands (where I live) because of the pandemic and also because I don’t have a travel budget at the moment. Hopefully once things get better I will have a chance to speak to them, fingers crossed!

Can someone explain why so much big electronic music producers come from Frankfurt?
There are more than 5,5 million people that live in Frankfurt ;-)
I don't know the answer but I think because Frankfurt is a big city. Good infrastructure is one thing. If you have like one or a few pioneers interested in a kind of music, then it's possible that a scene is building (with German Hip Hop the main centeres were Stuttgart, Hamburg, mabye Heidelberg (which is close to Frankfurt. Later Berlin became a center) and obviously new talented producers will come to an area where they can reach a large audience and where the clubs and record labels + producers + insiders are. In short: It's always easier for those who come later when you have some people buildung a solid foundation.
Artist/talent density
The whole Germany is the Cradle of Electronic music
Frankfurt was early with techno.
tbh i would rather hear his stories on his label Tracid Trax. It was the pinnacle of german trance at that time. harbouring talented guys like hennes & cold, derb, ASYS, Warmduscher etc. You couldnt talk about hard trance back then without mentioning these guys
The concept of my vlogs is that I pick a certain classic / big hit from back in the day and ask the producer / artist about the story behind that track. I'm doing that for more than 3 years already and I think it works pretty well ;-) In one of my previous interviews with Kai we talk about Tracid Traxxx as well in case you missed it :)

If You speak English, why subtitles in all videos in different languages except English? You can set subtitles settings on Your youtube channal English automatically when load... It would be nice if You fix subtitles in all video to English ;) and.... Thnx for the video , Super interview!!! :)
The default language for all my videos has been set to "English" since the start of my channel. I did double check the settings to see if something is wrong, but all looks fine here. When I log in with my other account I can also pick "English" as well, so it is in the list. So I don't think it is a problem on my end, sorry!
@@muzikxpress But in this video system automatically chose the German language. It would be nice if you were corrected into English. Otherwise, words are not correctly recognized .. That is, instead of normal text there is a set of random words. You can check. And similar not only with this video.
