While we don't see Will's whole hero presentation, we do catch a glimpse of his poster and who he's picked as his hero in episode 1: Alan Turing, the British codebreaking and mathematics genius who worked to break the infamous "Enigma" code during World War II. Turing was also famous for the devastating way he was treated as a gay man. He was bullied for being gay, Turing was prosecuted for homosexual acts. Him being his hero hits even harder . It was a little Easter egg.
Yep! Turing was chemically castrated and developed gynaecomastia for being gay, it's awful :(

Owens knew Papa was the only one with the knowledge of Eleven and her powers so he was the best chance to team up with to her ger powers back for the greater good. I don't think he WANTED to work with Papa but basically made a deal with thedevil for the greater good of humanity. Owens knew El was the only chance to beat Vecna and Papa was the only one that knew about her powers and how to develop them. The collar just shocks them. It doesn't suppress their powers. The children were all too afraid to use their powers on him.
yeah, you can't really blame owens for that one because that was the only chance for all of them as bad as it is to trust that man he's the one with the most knowledge with not el's powers but henry's
owens helped el live a life on her own so he DOES care and wants her to live her own life but when the whole world is at risk AND the military is hunting her anyway and she can't defend herself because she has NO powers, this was the only way to help her and the world
i also don't think owens knew the extent of brenner having that much sway and doing that much to someone who got their powers back too but again, the enemy of my enemy is my friend
as much as brenner sucks he's better than the military or vecna

It’s not summer, it’s Spring Break the entire season takes place between the 20-26 of March (they show the date on the video camera at the Rollerskating rink). It would still be extremely snowy and cold in Russia for sure!
Exactly, they're on the Kamchatcka Peninsula, where spring doesn't start until late April

Just wanted to mention that at some point during your reactions to season 1, you said “do you think El could take down a helicopter???” And I just thought, hell yea she can and you’ll be seeing it in season 4😂

The upside down hasn’t always specifically targeted eleven. That came with s3 after eleven closed the gate while the mind flayer watched so ofc she’d become a target

Ffs! Please people, learn how weather here (ie. Seasons) change around the world from Western hemisphere to Southern hemisphere to Eastern hemisphere to Northern Hemisphere (which is a kind of different thing itself - Northern). Ahhh, just hurts.

Matthew Modine talked about a deleted scene that showed that Papa had been testing Eleven with the cat. He knew she was powerful like Henry but Henry had no problem killing things. So, when she couldn't kill the cat, she actually passed Papa's test and he knew that she wasn't dark like Henry.
It would have made no sense. He tested her good nature but punished her for not killing the cat? He clearly had her sent to the isolation room in S1. I'm glad they realized the mistake before they made it. But even without the consistency issue, I wouldn't have liked it. Papa's been lowkey abusive the whole time. That would feel like the show trying to excuse his mistreating Eleven. Weird.

22:10 mark - It is not summer time, this season starts on March 22nd. Mike is visiting El on spring break. Remember when Joyce & Murray arrived in Alaska & it was still freezing cold? Murray even says "Oh god, this is Spring?!?!" Then they flew even further north to Kamchata, which is up by Siberia. Yes, both places are in the northern hemisphere, but Russia is much further north than California. Just look at a map, the distance from Kamchata Peninsula down to southern California is almost 4,000 miles. 🙄

There is a scene in this episode or maybe the last one? Either way it is not a spoiler really, where the characters wonder how to call Henry/One/Vecna. And Nancy says "Henry". This is also what Eleven calls him. I like that. It removes all the mysticism of Vecna and One, it strips him from power, much like Dumbledore calling Voldemort Tom.
Papa and Eleven have a very strange complicated relationship.
Papa is definitely a terrible person. But I do believe, in his twisted, sick mind, he believed he "loved" his subjects, even Henry. I don't pity him, or feel bad for him at all, but I understand why he does the things he does. Eleven does, too, as she accompanies him in his last moments, but she also knows how wrong he was and that is the reason she doesn't give him his last wish. She doesn't agree with anyhing he did.
Owens took thr right choice, because at the end of the day, they did need Papa to understand how to give Eleven her powers back.
Now that we know that 001/Vecna/The Mind Flayer/Henry are all one of the same, I'm calling him "Creel" from here on out.

22:08 It's not summer. This season is set in March, although I can understand the confusion since Indiana shouldn't look the way it does for being set in March and feels more like summer. But either way, Russia is still much further north than the US and it would definitely make sense to be snowing.

Eleven's scream from the helicopter scene is the best scream ever
Russia is for the most part at a higher latitude than the US excluding Alaska. It's basically more inline with Canada north to Greenland. So, colder.

@@Sokkq The first half and the climax, and the final shot were incredible. The latter half not so much. They really didn't need 40 minutes of aftermath. This whole season was spectacular, but If I had to choose, my least favorite episode was 3. It felt the least eventful.

LOL at all the Papa hate. While I understand it, it doesn't change the fact he helped El in this episode. In his own twisted way. If he wasn't here (with his knowledge & method), El woudn't have recovered her powers & everyone dies. The end.
He made El face her demons and to realize the truth she buried in her mind. Despite the manipulation, I think he genuinely wanted to help her. Her mind is free now from the guilt & trauma of thinking she did the massacre.
