Lifestyle changes have a huge impact. I am participating in a diabetes prevention program (part of the ADA) and it’s really shocking to me that low carb diets are never mentioned.A low fat plant based diet works for some but for me, a low carbohydrate lifestyle had been very effective for keeping my weight low and preventing the onset of T2D.

Well, sugar, it's like this - there are those who haven't had the pleasure of wrestling with metformin, and they're the ones talkin' 'bout it like it's a magic potion. Little do they know, it's a bit of a rodeo for some of us. Metformin, bless its heart, can be a real character. It's got this knack for causin' a tango between constipation and diarrhea, and trust me, nobody's linin' up for front-row seats to that show. So, while some folks might be singin' metformin's praises, others of us are just tryin' to keep our stomachs from throwin' a barn dance!

all drugs have side effects, you weigh the risk/reward according to your body's reaction and decide whether it is suitable for you , no ?

SGLT-2I - Listen up, y'all, when it comes to talkin' 'bout them meds, don't forget to throw in a caution like you're wranglin' a wild critter. Keep an eye on that all-cause mortality data - it's your compass in this here health rodeo!

Well, darlin', in the scientific mumbo-jumbo they call it "visceral adipose tissue," but 'round these parts, we've been sportin' what we affectionately call a "pot belly" since forever. It's like our own little Southern badge of honor - a cozy pouch of charm, if you will. Now, the fancy terms might sound like a doctor's way of spicin' up the conversation, but when it comes down to it, we Southern folks been pioneers in the art of comfort and good eatin'. So, next time someone throws around "visceral adipose tissue," just smile and nod, 'cause down here, we've been trendsetters in the pot belly department for as long as sweet tea's been sweet!

I am asian and my mom had type 2 DM. my siblings and i, all have tendencies of presenting with DM. But we all have avertted that by all going on a plant based low fat diet. Nobody has FBS as high as 300 as my mom used to have. My eldest brother started taking metformin and stopped after going with our plant based diet. The fat distribution being blamed as a cause of type2 DM by the speaker is a sign of food preference by these asian population not the cause of DM. Ooooh as i right this soeaker did say lifestyle changes is a better opiton than metformin...oh well ill just leave my comment anyways😅

Good luck with that (plant based low fat diet). It won't work long term. Look into Keto if you really want to reverse (yes, reverse, not just manage) T2DL.

Drugs, drugs, and more drugs. This is insane. Stop all carbohydrates. Do it now. Do people really want to keep taking these drugs and deal with all of their complications for the rest of their lives? Read Jason Fung The Diabetes Code or any of the Keto and carnivore doctors. These drugs deal with symptoms, not causes. Stop eating sugars. All of them. It’s not worth it.

Well, bless your heart, a plant-based diet sounds like a city-slicker way of sayin' "where's the meat, y'all?" 'Round here, we like our veggies sittin' pretty on the plate next to a hearty helping of barbecue. A salad? That's what we feed the rabbits while we're fixin' up a real Southern feast. So, next time someone talks plant-based, we'll be over here enjoyin' a porch-sittin', meat-lovin', Southern supper.

@@carnivore_scalperWell, sugar, this keto thing sounds like a fussier way of sayin' "pass the bacon and hold the biscuits." 'Round these parts, we believe in layers of flavor, and that means embracing the glory of grits and gravy. Keto might be trendy, but give me a mess of collard greens over cauliflower any day. So, while they're countin' carbs, we'll be countin' the moments 'til the next slice of pecan pie. Bless their hearts for tryin', but down here, we're just too busy enjoyin' our Southern comfort eats!
