They best perfume ever, was produced only one year, that was 2007.

YSL’s own statement on their website is pretty definitive as you note. Agree that this is likely a raw material issue. If that’s the case, I wonder if when raw materials are more easy to acquire would they relaunch this in the U.S.?

Anyone notice the retail price hike on bleu de chanel? Edt went up 10%! As someone who works in the chemical industry, it's brutal out there.

Both 60ml and 100ml are readily available at YSL Canada! I was able to pick up a couple 100ml bottles and have them shipped to some family for when I visit in spring!🙌⚡️
Ash, I took a punt on this fragrance based on your recommendation, and it was a great choice. I cannot believe that this is now discontinued less than a year after I first heard rumbling about it. If this is within the control of YSL and the reason is anything other than supply chain, then shame on them. And shame on the resellers and their inflated pricing.
'Business' has no shame. In a way, it shouldn't have. It doesn't pay to have shame. If you've ever had 'a tall order' requested of you, by your boss, then that is the reason why. 'If you don't ask, you don't get' and shame is counterproductive to their goals.
That's not to criticise what you said or you saying it. I understand your sentiments and share them. I also think people like ticket touts and wristwatch resellers (of Omega Moonswatches, limited edition Seiko's, etc) are a bunch of contemptible rogues.
I'm just saying, without condoning it, I do understand it.
'Business (or people who see what they're doing as business) not having a sense of shame' and the idea that 'it doesn't pay them to have one' were notions I became aware of, that became conclusions I arrived at, a few years ago, one day.
They won't, really, ever, adopt a sense of shame as, to do so, would be counterproductive to their goals and the touting, reselling and scalping and the brass-necked requests for more work from your boss, will probably just go on forever and never change.
'Shame on them' but they'll never adopt it, or act as though they should be ashamed when the object of the exercise is to make them more money.
Hard to find it in US, however here in Northern Europe we have a lot available. 100ml version is running out but a lot of 60ml still out there - probably not for long
Price tag in Finland for 60ml is 63 - 80€ so that is 65 - 85 USD or so.
This fragrance dropped early in my fragrance journey. I am glad I picked a backup bottle when it was in stock. A lesson well learned. Thanks Ashton!

As far as I know, they didn’t even release this in stores in the UK yet. Best we could here is get samples from decant sellers or import from France etc.
Thanks for the heads up, ordered right away. Could only afford 40 ml at this time but I've had this on my want-list for a long time so I didn't want to wait and risk getting nothing. I already made that mistake recently with 1 Million Privé.

If it is really discontinued then that means it is a very rare fragrance. Even if they do bring it back I wouldn't doubt that it would be reformulated.
I found this fragrance by mistake at Macys. I knew it was sold out everywhere and the lady at Macys said they haven’t had it in weeks but when I tested le parfum she checked the price on the box for me and I seen a blue electrique mixed in the le parfum section by mistake. I immediately said I want that. No testing needed Gimmie dat! 🤣. I got lucky. Also it was a lot cheaper than every other fragrance. Only 70 bucks. Crazy.

I called them and emailed them. On the phone they said it’s discontinued. The email they sent me back said it was no longer being manufactured and to buy Y Le Parfum instead 😅. Have the email up on the community tab

Hey Ashton! Thanks for doing this video. It's interesting because I tried the Google search you did and clicked the Sephora link. It took me to a page that showed it in stock and available to purchase but only the 60ml! I like in Canada so I'm not sure if this discontinuation is just happening in the States but not sure why that would be!!? Anyways, just wanted to share this. Keep doing what you do. Wore it for the 3rd time this past week. It's growing on me. It's not a must have for my collection.
Don't know why anyone is surprised about this. I'm in New York City, and bleu electrique disappeared from the Macy's shelves back in the fall! I saw this coming from a mile away!

Just picked it up at Sephora yesterday for $87 on sale. From reading online seems it’s been discontinued in a few countries. It’s a very great fragrance, maybe they’ll relaunch or reformulate.
Yep I picked mine up on Sept 17 from Macy's. It was a Flash sale and it was just under $50. GREAT value for this fragrance. I ABSOLUTELY love it!

Ash, as soon as you recorded this video, I went on and ordered a 30 ml decant. It's just arrived. It's unbelievable that YSL is discontinuing this fragrance. The fragrance is amazing. It really takes the base from la nuit de l'homme (which I love and received as a sample at the beginning of my fragrance journey) and somehow improves it and makes it more modern, exactly as you said. It's a bit fresher but, somehow, a bit spicier as well (I don't know how it's possible, but that's how I perceive it)

I bought a 2oz bottle when macys first released it they didnt even have the 3.3 oz yet at the time, glad I scooped it up it smells amazing no reason for a discontinuation

you have to remember, as enthusiasts were in our own bubble or echo chamber so to speak. most people outside of the fragcom are never thinking about the next big thing, and most of them just have one fragrance they bought however long ago and just replace it when it runs out with the same thing. theres a bunch of people that bought the original la nuit and never even tried a flanker...they might not even know what a flanker is
This fragrance was overhyped anyways. Smells great but has major performance issues. Definitely not on par with vintage batches.

FYI I think Spicebomb Extreme is gonna get discontinued, too. The V&R fragrances Instagram has pushed original Spicebomb, Infrared, & Nightvision either individually or together since last summer but hasn't shown Extreme despite it being in season for it. I think it'll be gone after retailers sell out this season

Yeah I have heard it is discontinued, I got my first bottle 2 days ago, I'm not too upset, it is lovely but replaceable, it isn't so unique that I will miss it, atleast not yet, maybe I will get attached though.
Latest batches are suuuper weak, so maybe they had to reformulated it but decided to drop it completely due to its weak performance.
Hey Ash...I have two more for your discontinued list... the 2022 newly released Valentino Born in Roma Coral Fantasy and Acqua Di Gio Eau de Parfum... I have the emails from the reps stating so.. I noticed this after going to both retail sites and they weren't listed at all!!..(I believe it is due to the new acquisition buyouts by L'Oreal)..I sent them to your Instagram messages a few days ago. (I feel like Arnold Horshack in class yelling out " ooh, ooh, ooh," with my hand up... and Mr Kotter doesn't see me 😅)
Just a heads up to your point about it being discontinued only in the US, where I live in Australia it is still easily available at our beauty outlets (Myer, The Iconic and David Jones). So maybe US only?

I went to the Macy’s in Fairfield, CA during Christmas time looking for Bleu Electrique, and the women working the counter told me it was discontinued.
That's my go to spot to check out the latest and greatest lol. Those other two independent perfume stores have a mix of real and fake stuff. The one downstairs had fake Aventus,but real Gucci Guilty Black 🤷🏻♂️
Maybe it's just discontinued in the U.S.. It's still in stock on the canadian YSL website both in 100ml and 60ml. & ALL other places i can think of have it in stock!

Don't know if this is relevant at all, Ashton, but I just picked up a bottle from Myer (high-end Australian department store).
This is why I bought 4 bottles of L'homme Le Parfum. I never got a chance to smell Bleu Electrique but I'm sure it was great. Hopefully they rerelease it as an intense version of La Nuit

I was at a fragrance store yesterday asking about this fragrance. The purchaser stated that it's one of the ingredients in the fragrance that's stuck in this supply shortage holding everything up. The fragrance sold out so fast that they could not keep up with the demand and have been promising more product soon. Guess we will find out if they bring it back.

It think discontinuation is all around the world, not only in USA. I'm from Denmark and having trouble to find bottles of 100 ml they are sold everywhere, two sites are selling 60 ml and there's 4 that sells 40 ml. It will be harder and harder to find it also in EU.

Here in The Netherlands it´s still widely available in fragrance stores, beauty stores and on discounter websites.
Same for discounter websites from France, Spain and Germany.
And the stores that have them sold out due to valentines, have already confirmed restock dates on the websites.
But I bought a 100ml backup bottle just in case it won't be available anymore in the near future.

Well at this point in Europe there is a shortage in materials , increase in shipment costs and a huge rise in prices of fuels. So factories are shutting down production and small businesses are closing because they can't keep with the bills . The situation is unfortunately a little more serious than not finding your favourite fragrance .
I just bought a 60 ml bottle today here in Finland. I think they were sold out a couple of weeks ago from the local retailer, but then they were re-stock last week when I checked the store. I did hear rumours that it might be discontinued, but at least it's still available here for now. I wasn't familiar with the original, but after testing them both, I decided to buy the Bleu Electrique - I liked it more.

It should be pointed out that YSL is owned by L’Oréal. Look at a bunch of recent discontinuations and see who the parent company is.
I've been saying it up and down on the threads but people don't seem to be believing it... L'Oreal acquired Valentino and Armani this year and I think that's why those new releases are being discontinued as well
@@pappym.8421 They also own Prada, Mugler, and Atelier. L’Oréal is definitely cleaning house.
I mentioned it a few times to Ashton I don't know if he gets my direct messages but I literally have proof from both reps sending me back email saying that both new releases from Valentino and Armani are discontinued. I believe whenever L'Oreal buys you out.. whatever you have released new... gets tossed in the trash can.
@@pappym.8421 I’m sure he’s aware, but the average viewer doesn’t really care about the business side of things so it’s probably best to skip over that so people don’t get bored. Similarly when Francis Kurkdjian became the creative director for Dior, people got excited thinking he was going to shake things up or “fix” things. People don’t realize that LVMH owns Dior as well as MFK, so him being chosen was equal to moving his desk to a different floor. He’s still going to be working at Dior under LVMH’s umbrella.

It was the exact same in the UK. Very difficult to get a hold of throughout it's life span and now completely gone.

EU banned the use of lilial in cosmetics lately. Might have something to do with this, as it is a very common raw material in fragrances. Many fragrances have to be either discontinued or reformulated because of this.

I was lucky enough to sample this on my skin at my local Macy’s but they were out of stock in store and their online store as well, so they couldn’t order it. They just said to come back in a few weeks and hopefully it’ll be back in stock. I can tell you that that fragrance was just awesome on my skin, and I’m super bummed out that I’ll never get a bottle of it.

No big deal. Its almost one hour better in from la nuit og new formulation. Here in Europe is was not a big deal. The parfume stores are full of Blue Electrique. And like second, I can’t believe that they discontinued so fast. He was only few months in stores.

I'm Canadian and bought my backup bottle yesterday after learning the news. I wanted to get a backup bottle this summer but I guess YSL decided I would spend my money sooner than that!

Hey, friend just went to a shoppers in ontario. they had 3 of them for $59. No tester so only bought 1. The employee said they've been in the building for almost a year but never got the okay to display on the shelf ...and now they're clearing them out along with a few others from the line. This was a boutique location, not a normal one.
It is still readily available in the EU, at normal prices. If it is discontinued, then it's not showing yet here.
Dior Homme Parfum, YSL La Nuit De L'Homme Bleu Electrique, and other discontinued fragrances are all available in European high street stores, and cheap too.
Maybe its time to buy some back ups and wait 1 more year and make some cash on eBay
I mean its not really a loss, the LNDLH-line isn't performing well and at least in Europe not very successful because there are far better popular fragrances and it simply doesn't perform and the girls won't smell you after a few hours.. Bleu Electrique was longer lasting than the previous releases but from considering customers, reviewers and other sources you may got up to 6-8 hours with a flat skin scent after a few minutes into dry down.
You can still buy it in germany if anyone cares still available at most parfumeries online and in store.

@@mareklipka6918 I don't really have similar fragrance to name but overall fragrances are much better in every way you could think of are for example Le Male Le Parfum and Ultra Male but the OG is going very nice with girls too and then of course the entire Stronger With You line is the ticket to a girls heart and bedroom just like Armani Code Profumo and Absolu Gold or Dior Homme Intense. Spicebomb Extreme is one of the monster and the girls fall in love with the spicy sweet vanilla. To be fair enough Eros EdP and Eros Parfum have to be mentioned as well not to forget about Rasasi Hawas and First Instinct Extreme.
Now since LNDLH is technically a fresh spicy fragrance the in-house Y EdP/Le Parfum are the best alternate if you wanna stay in the YSL house with that fresh but dark with a slight sweetness territory. But if we talk about Kardamom and elegant strong sweetness, Le Male Le Parfum will be your seducer and it lasts 😁
Azzaro Wanted (and by Night) does great as well, the original has the spicy and woody freshness you would find in most La Nuits, but with that additional seductive sweetness you find in fragrances like Invictus, Eros and more and we all know the girls love that.

I was pretty shocked about azzaro, from the scent profile I thought that I'd really like it but when I smelled it something about it threw me off completely, but that's fine, I own small bottle of azzaro elixir and apart from not very pleasant opening it becomes really interesting frag with that blackcurrant fruitiness paired with, like, smokiness? I really like it.
When it comes to eros then I own eros flame, on my skin it smells amazing with mandarin orange it the opening, which later decays into typical eros terrority. But man, that mandarine, it smells like freshly opened fruit.
I also can recommend montblanc explorer, aventusesque clone. Really nice office and everyday frag.
And my secret finding- really not known frag. Yves rocher HOGGAR, man I love that smell, really fresh and woody frag with tonka bean sweetness at the end. Really simple and linear frag but there is something about it that just feels smooth. It's really well blended together.

Hello to everyone who has commented here. I just came across this video regarding Bleu Electrique. I have recently purchased 2 bottles of Bleu Electrique of 2 different sites, one in France and one in the UK. I have send Ash the details and hopefully he will do his due diligence as well and look into it and make a follow up video to this one about where buy it while it is still available as of the time of this post.

in spain too maybe im the only one have this 100ml imported from france last October,,now i can get it for 60€ in french store but the OG here is 60€ 200ml🤯 cant decide..

A reason why new releases are so late in the US might be the price of overseas shipping. The current average worldwide price of a 40 ft container is $ 5,472.30. This used to be a whole lot lower not that long ago... trust me, way way way lower. For a company to ship there products from Europe to the US, they want the container as full as possible and less shipping actions as possible. Beside, these costs will also be (partial) charged to the customer in the price you pay for it. Because of these shipping prices I know companies in Europe already took production back from, for example, China to a country in Europe because the overall price would be lower in the end. A big European producer of furniture and all sorts of related items, have bought there own ships for overseas transport, because this would at the end of the balans, be less expensive then pay for containers at shipping companies.
This could also be a reason why ingredients/ materials are hard to get for perfumers.
Like all signs were included AdG Profumo being discontinued? Or Prada L'Homme Intense? The last two "it's discontinued, guys!!!!" alarm videos? Both are still widely available with batches made 2022.
@@jcstrabo Newsflash: those 2 are discontinued. Ofcause you're still able to find some batches. Just look at the official sites from these brands and you'll find that they are no longer for sale.

Un-freaking real. Finally a redeemable drop to reboot the OG dna. I don't care how rare the raw material is- this drop literally will make or break the legacy. So over modern day fragrance management. If they were smart they would drop half of their useless LNDL flankers and keep this alive. No matter the cost. If they DO discontinue it and then reboot it in a year- I would NOT trust the formula as they would most likely cheapen it. Invictus Aqua anyone?

The entitlement. You don't care how rare the raw material is? If the ingredient is missing that is required to make the formula, then what do you expect them to do? Craft it out of thin air? Shipments are delayed or in short supply, this isn't about management, this is about access.

It's basically whale p00p the only difference between whale p00p and ambergris is that ambergris is like undigested stuff and it turns into this waxy substance and they p00p it out and then perfumers come along and put it into your perfumes and literally make you spray whale p00p on yourself. Ambergris is like a nicer sounder word though than whale p00p. That's also why perfumers started using labdanum which is a substitute for ambergris since ambergris is rare and hard to get
As of September 19th 2022 it’s still available in both sizes from the ysl Canada website and Sephora Canada. Might have to pick up a few 100ml bottles 👍🏼

I love the smell but the longevity is the only thing that makes me sad. It is a masterpiece. Blue electrique did not even get into the Chinese market. I am lucky I got mine from Macys back in November.
