Nexus will always be my favorite Ultraman, but the original will always be my second favorite. I never understood why as a kid until I watched Shin Ultraman where I found my answer: it was what he represented. To understand what I mean, you need to take a look at another of Eiji Tsuburaya’s greatest works: Godzilla. Godzilla represents the hopelessness and despair of mankind’s follies, our worst traits that ended up with nuclear weapons creating something even worst to punish man for our sins against the Earth. Godzilla is the symbol of mankind’s negative traits that will comeback to haunt us. He is the beast that reminds us of our horrible past. On the other hand, Ultraman represents humanity’s potential and hopes. He was an alien being who felt guilty for accidently killing an innocent being and merged with him to save him, but in his time on Earth, he came to cherish humanity and despite seeing our negative traits, he saw our potential to being like his kind and was ready to give his life to protect us, our future and our hope. Ultraman was a beacon of light that showed what humanity could become and gave us hope. He is the selfless hero who represents humanity’s potential future.
Ultraman might be not as skilled as any of his brothers in arms like Seven, Taro, or Leo. Not as powerful as any new generation Ultras nowadays. But let's be honest. Without him, every Ultras will never recognize and acknowledge as warriors of light and justice. He create his own legacy and were carried on by every Ultras that either or neither knows him. That is our original Ultraman!
I think He is As skilled as Ultra Seven at least, but He Obviously only has the Basic Skills of Ultras, so not much Techniques and Attacks to Take Advantage of.
Love this theme. Nice tribute video! It reminds me why Ultraman was/is special and is still relevant today. I've seen other Ultras -- Ultraseven is another favorite -- but that original character with his design is the one that still stands out most to me.
A story of my first reaction to the show : i was watching an anime, and when it ended I was ready to close the TV but ultraman came on and i was like the title seems interesting lets check it out and I was shocked how good the show was so from then on i never missed one episode and I will never regret that decision i fact its the greatest decision I've ever made! :D

Yeah, Ultraman's first mask looked really bad, but that's really what makes it so memorable, as it has been used in the Mebius movie and even a Figuarts was made from it. Also, fun fact, Ultraman actually had 3 different masks. The third one has wider lips than the second. I personally prefer the 2nd one.

さすが黒部さん、お年を召してもすごくカッコいい。そしてウルトラマンがすこく似合っている人。人間の体を借りている時のウルトラマンのイメージにぴったりだ。他のどんなドラマや映画で黒部さんが出演しているのを見てみても、黒部さんが画面に出てきた時から、意識がウルトラの世界に飛んで行ってしまう。
リアルタイムでウルトラシリーズを視聴しだしたのが帰ってきたウルトラマンからの自分にはウルトラマン俳優の思い出は郷さん役の団時朗さんからです。黒部さんは時代劇での悪代官やヤクザの三下役のイメージが強くて、後年かなり成長してから黒部さんが初代ウルトラマンだった事を知った時には驚きました。仮面ライダーを演じた俳優さんはあまり悪役をしてるの見たこと有りませんが、ウルトラマンを演じた俳優さんは結構悪役をしてるの見て、子供心にショックを受けてました。

自分は帰って来たウルトラマンが生まれて初めて見たウルトラマンで初代ウルトラマンとウルトラセブンは小学生の頃再放送で見た。新マンの中で初代ウルトラマンはセブンと共に登場してナックル星人に捕まった新マンを救った。その後、エースとタロウにも兄弟達と共に登場した。この初期二作品の成功が今のウルトラマンシリーズの土台になっていることは間違いないだろう。ウルトラ兄弟は自分達の少年時代に多くの夢と希望を与えてくれた。
