One of my favorite bluesmen without a doubt, I remember the first I became aware of Ronnie Earl was on a Hot Licks video (VHS tape in the 90s) called Blues Guitar with Soul, he had the lightest most measured touch and so much feel and when he spoke he appeared so gentle which was unexpected given the profound talent he had just displayed, I was in awe 👍
Hey Nik greetings from "down under". Thanks for drawing attention to Ronnie . Been a fan since the Roomful days and have a photo from his tour to Australia in '96--I think? Me and Ronnie. Lovely , gentle man. Fabulous player. He has been such an inspiration on my own playing and obviously yours. BTW Ronnie's middle name is Earl . He reckons that Muddy and crew couldn't pronounce his surname correctly. Thanks again. Best regards.
Ronnie also is very generous with aspiring guitarist he always would let younger players sit in and was very very encouraging. A very nice person to boot
Your playing always reminded me of Ronnies....Ive had that video for a while now. Really helped me alot. Love the part where he just limits himself to playing with three notes! That part alone taught me so much.
STRAIGHT NO CHASER... '57 Sauce sounding mighty saucy there! Ronnie Earl's a regular on my Pandora stations of SRV, Albert King, Danny Gatton and some other guitarists too many to list; that straight-no-chaser tone without pedals definitely gets it!
Hey Nick - just found your channel recently. I’m a Canadian blues guy who made more of a name as a festival owner/club owner/radio guy - I’ve really just taken playing more seriously in the last 10 years. Ask your buddy Phil Sace about his days with Jeff Healy and his early gigs at my club The Other Side of Five and a friends joint called Sue’s Blues House. I’m happy to say I booked him very early in his career - and I’m still a fan! Peace (big Ronnie fan, too. He’s played my London Ontario blues fest in the early 2000’s)
A few months ago we played in Boston and he sat in and played my Super... I asked him how he wanted me to set it. He just said “oh, just any old way....” I forget what I set it at but regardless, he sounded the same. Just goes to show ya, the tone is in his soul!
I had the good fortune to see Ronnie in the early 80's and hang out with him. He was a real gentleman. I really believe that he influenced Stevie Ray's playing though I don't think he gets that credit.
Ronnie Earl is blues royalty! Pure class, soul and feeling.
Ronnie is one of the best! Listen to this: Blues Guitar Virtuoso Live In Europe.
Ronnie is an accomplished blues player with a heart of gold.
Sounds good on your new strat Nik!
Damn Nik! Best description about Ronnie Earl ever! One of the few cats that can play a solo with only 3 notes!
Ronnie Earl is the real deal! T Bone Walker with a twist!

Absolutely! I own a copy of that Hot Licks video.

Love Ronnie earl. Him and Jimmie Vaughan is what I’m listening to the most at the moment 👍
Just subscribed on Spotify and gonna listen all day at work today. I also finished up that pine body tele with a maple neck I was building

Don't forget that Ronnie assumed his last name because of his love of Earl Hooker, another great. Cheers, great playing.

Who said he needed a name change?

Definitely helped his really trebley sound

100%
Ronnie Earl is not celebrated anywhere enough, in my opinion he is THE MAN . No one comes close to his expression on the guitar.
Standard tuning....GREAT!
How do you get such a clean tone man? I have a super reverb and it breaks up too much for me man. I like your tone here. Any tips?
If you could do some lick of the kinda stuff you were doing in the intro. Real baby doll blues stuff, I know I would appreciate that
Nik, do you still have the Blackface Champ?
No. Sold it!
@@theriffwniksevigny5473 okay thanks
