lisa darrah don't make 4....use 4 mugs and set them to mould in one bigger tray...buy a throwaway foil roasting tin for example...then you can set them in a line...or 2 up 2 down....etc.... what I would say though, is that you should squash plastic disposable cups inside the mugs before filling with soil... otherwise when you water your lil plants, the plaster half of the mug would absorb the water and become soggy and your mugs will fall out!
lisa darrah might want to put a liner in it. The plaster doesn't hold well with dirt and water. Good idea would be cute..

I sure was wondering what she was going to end up with, and it is a useful and pretty item though the change I would make is not to have the plaster of Paris base so thick maybe half as long as it covers the broken part of the mug even if the handle is offset it would look nice.
I would also add a bow to the handle or wrap it with ribbon and then end in a bow that would look pretty coordinated with the colors added to the base.

Good idea. Instead of hanging with thread. Prepare the mould with hole in back. How? Just add small rubber in middle of plaster.

Monika Arya let the base dry completely it will take 2-3 days.... I used a screw.... You can take a nail and fix it.... But avoid hard strokes because pop is already a soft material......

I would have chucked the mug in the trash, went and bought a new or perhaps 2 of new mugs for the price of all the stuff you used to make that hanging plant decoration. Also saved a lot of time and hard work. Lol.

I know this is something dumb to ask here , but is there a way you could make something from a cup that's been smashed pretty bad? I ask cause well this cup was given to me by a loved one who is no longer with us , when it broke I completely broke down crying. I'm looking for anyway to make something new from it art wise or maybe melt it into something new I don't know. I'm just desperate for some help. Sorry to have bled on your page, thanks for hearing me out, great work with what you did.

It's use surprised me. LOL Until the rope was attached, the only possible use for it that I could think of was as a doorstop.

When she got that knife and started scraping the edges, I said to myself surely she isn't going to do that entire thing. If anyone tries making this BE VERY CAREFUL if you use a sharp knife like she did to pry the plaster of Paris out of the container. Even a butter knife can do damage, but wow, using a sharp knife?????

gurpreet kaur- not wasted just another art form. There is very little money used on this. There's many a time I have a little of this and a little of that. This would use the items that would normally go into a dump. It's called recycling. I think this is a cute idea.
