- The theme from Love Story,"(Where Do I Begin)" recorded by American pop singer Andy Williams was released in1971, by Columbia Records.[1]The first single from the original Love Story album was, in fact, Love Story", which entered the Billboard Hot 100 in the issue of the magazine dated February 6, 1971, and stayed on the chart for 13 weeks, eventually peaking at number nine.[8] . Its lifespan on the UK singles chart began on March 20 of that same year and lasted 18 weeks, during which time it reached number four. Many artists did their covers of this song and Engelbert Humperdinck performed it live in a television show
Williams' voice is like a smooth fine wine. Humperdinck's is like brandy, with a stronger kick. They are both excellent in their own way.

OK, let me think... It's Andy. It will always be Andy. Endlessly versatile, smooth, powerful, emotional but not histrionic, romantic, best singer of Christmas carols, great solo but also knows how to blend in ensembles, trained in vocals and performance by a great entertainer - Kay Francis. I cried when I heard he passed on as that beautiful voice could not be heard live anymore.
Moving on to Englebert. If you need someone to sing a swoony, sexy song he's the one to call. I was about 9 or 10 the first time I saw him on TV while I was doing homework. Upon hearing him my 50 year old, very conservative mom left the dishes in the sink, came to the living room, and looked at the picture on our black and white TV. She was silent for several seconds and then said, "Big hands. He has big hands." I think that about says it all.

Andy's voice has its special softness and wisdom. Enge is younger in this recording. Nevertheless, its a real pleasure to listen to them both! In my student's years I always listened to these two singers and learned my phonetics from them. In the Soviet Union one could never talk or listen a native speaker, so as a student of English I found it very hard to find something original, BUT on Sundays on the radio there was a special 30 mins. program of foreign variety music and I heard Mr. Humperdink and Mr. Williams first time there. Since then I keep listening to their voices and fantastically beautiful music. The new times produced nothing as beautiful and romantic as that epoch...

Both Andy Williams and Englert Humperdinct are amazing singers. Andy sang this song in key throughout. Englert got off to a rough start when he sang the song in a register that his voice couldn't adapt to and again repeating the same lyrics in the song. But when he had to hot the high notes he nailed it.

Andy Williams put more energy in it than Engelbert did... It's just that Williams doesn''t have such a powerful voice like Enge.
ok, first of all Engelbert has a pop baritone voice with a 3 octave range. Andy is somewhere between a baritone and a tenor. Next..they were both singing this song in the exact same key. When you have a higher voice you dont need as much vocal pressure passing across your vocal chords to reach the notes. The guy with the lower voice has to belt it just a bit more to reach the same notes. Which is why Engelbert sounded like he was more aggressive with his presentation then Andy.
Andy seems to be struggling with the high notes; Engelbert comes out easy and gets the high notes perfectly!❤️❤️❤️

Engelberts rendition was way superior, with incredible vocal range. They edited Andy to sing the final high notes, and cut Engelberts out, but listen to his entire version. Its awesome.

Andy's sound is in HD, if Engelbert's recording was more current or in HD, as it puts emotion in his songs and is involved in the subject of the film, there are differences. Engelbert is better. forever!

I’ve listened to both of these in their full performance. Andy puts nothing into his version. He’s too easy with it. The key changes in the Engelbert version just makes the song and Engelbert’s three and a half octave range just blows this song out of the water. Engel all the way. Andy has a beautiful voice but he just doesn’t sing with heart like Engel does!!!
