30 Bigg’s Killer Whales in Rosario Strait on August 13, 2023

On August 13, we headed out hoping to encounter some Bigg’s killer whales in the San Juan Islands. Little did we know what was in store for us! While a few had already been reported, we found more en route and for a while it seemed like there were more orcas around every corner. Over the course of a couple hours we ended up seeing 30 different whales, all within 5 miles of Rosario Strait. Here are some highlights!
