The people who were getting the meals that kamala was personally handing out looked pretty happy with her. So happy that most of them...the first thing they did was have other people take their phones to take a picture with them and kamala. We live in NC-11 and he's our Rep. We don't agree on much, but he's telling the truth. We've had FEMA here since the first day, and the National Guard are flying Chinooks and Blackhawks over my home to deliver supplies to inaccessible areas. Churches, schools, community centers, Vets offices, the VFW are filled with non-confiscated donations. FEMA has stationss set up to take applications for help, and have been distributing supplies. We've been blessed with gov't and private help, and are grateful.

I live in his district, and I'll tell you that FEMA has been here since day one. The National Guard are flying Chinooks and Blackhawks over my home to deliver supplies to inaccessible areas, the Coast Guard was here doing water rescues, the Army Corp of Engineers inspected our dam and bridges, our local churches, schools, etc are packed with donations....what else do you need to know?

The Blue section, Asheville is fine, the rural areas that vote red are not getting help. I didn't notice the coincidence until David Axelrad made the comment "The Liberals in Asheville will figure out how to vote, the rural Red areas will have a harder time",. Thats when I started to think about how the people vote. Same thing in Georgia. Gov. Kemp was given help for some of the counties but not the RED counties. I'm sure its just a coincidence.

Watch local news stations there are a ton of reports and video. Fox isn't going to show any, so if that is all you watch you're never going to know any facts. Also having to deal with reports and political celebs takes a way local resources that could be put to better use.

I haven't heard most of these rumors. My daughter lives just east of Asheville and like everyone else there she's struggling right now. She said obtaining federal aid thru FEMA (the $750 we've all heard about), is mired in red tape and she hasn't been successful so I sent her some money. But all the businesses are closed so they have to leave town and head for Greenville. She can't work due to everything being shut down.
Just curious - does she live in a household by herself, or with others who are not necessarily related? The immediate needs funds are allocated on a per-household basis - not individually - and maybe FEMA doesn't make that clear enough. I would imagine also, if she hasn't switched to a NC drivers license - that would be a terrible situation to be in trying to prove she indeed lives where she does. Regardless, I hope she's able to get the assistance she needs.

My ex lives in Ashville and she informed me FEMA has been great but the local government has not been great.
I know a girl in a band up there and she said she hasn't seen FEMA at all but heard they were at a school somewhere. They don't have working cars anymore though.

I have friends up in the Asheville area and they have said the disaster response has been good and are satisfied with it. They both commented that the damage is catastrophic and while they still lack things like cell service they were surprised to have had their power and internet service back up in their remote coves. They also said that the cities are having some problems getting things like their water treatment plants back online but considering that were under flood waters it doesn't surprise them.

I have family in the area and was hit by the hurricane. Their house was destroyed. They said FEMA and the National Guard have been fantastic.

i understand that i was trained to be readily available for deployment for any disaster in any state at any time in order to search and rescue anyone in need of help.
our logo displayed on the back of the uniforms clearly states "URBAN SEARCH AND RESCUE" and in the center of that logo is "FEDERAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY".
the left shoulder has a patch with the same logo and the right shoulder has a patch with the logo for our unit's name and the state of origin.

You do realize your state is the one that is supposed to set up all emergency contingencies and FEMA is there to land support when your state is not able to cover now unless your state had a level of emergency of this magnitude in place and planned out I think the fact that you were able to get as much as you did as quickly as you did as a testament to FEMA The fact that you are one of four states so I understand how personal this is for you and your people but kind of remember you’re not the only one at the party, but I totally agree that you should try to get as much help as you can for your people in the Carolinas

@@DoraEroles Actually it is. FEMA coordinates with State Authorities to direct resources and equipment and personnel. State officials must give FEMA permission by asking FEMA for assistance and then formally hand the keys of the operation over to FEMA, to let FEMA run the operation. Until that time, it's dealing with local sheriffs, county officials, the national guard, the 1st responders etc on an ad hoc basis. Once the governor says...This is FEMA's operation NOW, then FEMA has top down authority.
CNN absolutely just lied because the FAA absolutely did Restrict Airspace forcing the Private Pilots who were flying their own aircraft with their own fuel in there to save people who were stranded out of food water and medicine and they even tried to arrest one pilot who had to go back up to retrieve his copilot who he left with the husband of the woman he just rescued when they tried to arrest him, he went back for his copilot who was his son but had to tell the husband he couldn’t help him and then that elderly man had to walk down the mountain then get a rope tossed across the river to him to tie onto his body so firemen could drag him through a rain swollen and debris filled raging river.

He was saying fema didn’t have a command center- that is usually furnished by the county or churches in the area. Republicans would really throw a hissy fit if fema wanted to build logistics centers in every county- she was way ahead of his knowledge about process.
