They had to wait all most a week for biden and harris to give the national guard the ok to go in . they were ready the whole time waiting on them. local people did their jobs though. Its a lack of good leadership when needed, Harris and biden and the gov. All failed again. What do you expect of those losers. First responders? Haven't seen any video evidence of people being rescued by our so called government!
I've worked on the crews that come from all eastern & Midwestern states to help restore power after a hurricane and trust me, it takes weeks to finally repair the all of power grid in the least of the hurricane events. This hurricane was a bad one.
These crews are literally working their arses off, with minimal sleep, in horrible conditions, to get the job done quickly and done right.
All this criticizing of the government for not instantly and magically solving the all of tens of thousands of difficult problems spread all over multiple states, with a just wave of their wand is a load of ignorant BS uploaded for personal political selfishness.
Billionaire entrepreneurs who believe they can put a person in space or build a high rise but not actively assist the recovery effort.
Trump keeps attacking govt that is trying to be effective, no matter it be at state or federal level. He and the Republicans want to undo any effectiveness govt has shown over decades starting with the FDR Admin. They want chaos to reign first, then the wealthy will pretend to come to the rescue.
No it don't. It does not take weeks. Trump can snap his magic fingers and have it done in a day. Don't you know Trump is only second to God? I know it takes a while sometimes months.
Too bad your candidate spent all the FEMA money on people that don't belong here. Or we would have been a lot better prepared for what has happened and what's going to happen. But y'all keep drinking that Kool-Aid. Nobody's criticizing the people working on the power grid or doing what they can were criticizing the financing and the timing of their response. If you didn't know FEMA announced it was broke because it re-appropriated funds to Homeland security for immigrants. That is a fact! Admitted by FEMA and admitted by Homeland security. This is not about the people that's trying to help it's about the people that sit up in DC and spend our tax dollars on people that don't belong here. Nobody's criticizing the people that are there working.

What people need to understand is this is what the former President does and will do if he gets back into office. For him it isn’t about the response of others or even about the storms themselves. It is about him and all the attention he wants to focus on himself. He showed us it was all about him when he made people in Valdosta, Georgia build that podium for him out of bricks they had to gather for from the destroyed building. He won’t stop making it all about him. I remember when he used a sharpie to draw in areas where he said the hurricane was going. He will make storm relief contingent on how deferential the areas affected are to him. The warning is clear. I just hope people look at what he is doing now to make the media talk about him to the detriment of all storm victims present and future.

Yeah but just because they are housed in hotels does not mean they are able to recover their lost property, companies are gonna come in like sharks and buy up opportune land
Also for students of App State and UNC Asheville they are still out of school and out of work, many of them are paying tuition for programs they aren't able to attend, since the facilities at both schools are shut down
Now it's about making sure to repair infrastructure and prevent biological hazards from poor attempts to do so
Also the individual assistance fund is the 750 a person and the 100k who applied aren't ALL getting anything

Yes, it's what they are doing now and were trying to do in the beginning.
There aren't even roads to many places anymore. Literally getting supplies to folks via mules, horses, atvs, and helicopters. I'm in northern SC with friends in Asheville and other mountain towns and it's insane. These roads weren't super easy to drive before, now that they are gone it's back to the 1800s in some places. Like our power lines in my part of the state are on mountains and to get to them is nothing short of herculean.
This is made even worse by the GOP refusing to call Congress back to DC and actually fund FEMA. No, project 2025 wants to get rid of FEMA and it shows. Trump as a long history of refusing to give aid. No, if you forgot, he forced states to compete against each other during COVID and refused to give aid to dem states and Puerto Rico when they were hit by a cat 5 hurricane.

What a liar. It has to be demoralizing to first responders. I know, I was a first responder during flood times. Had our community done what some are doing today it would have been hard to do my job--especially when you put your own life on the line. I just had two people yesterday spew these lies. I sent them the information on what was really going on. One woman was certain the disaster response had been turned back over to the Governor and there were no FEMA or National Guard troops in the ground. I sent her i formation and after 2 days she finally said thank you. But I seriously doubt she believed me.

I live in Newland NC, our little town was hit hard. I can tell you they have been working so so hard. FEMA is here, the military is here, we have 2 different search and rescue teams setup in the ingles parking lot. Helicopters flying all day long every day. Dropping supplies to cant reach areas and doing search and rescue. Linemen are working day and night to get the power restored. I couldn't believe how fast we got our power back on at our house. I thought with all the power lines laying on the road with trees on top of them and entire sections of Roads gone it would take a lot longer then it has. I'm extremely satisfied with the response from not only my state, but the federal government as well. I don't think they could have responded better.

Nearly 1,000 soldiers from Fort Liberty, N.C., and Fort Campbell, Ky., have been mobilized to support residents and affected counties devastated by Hurricane Helene in western North Carolina, Pentagon Press Secretary Maj. Gen. Pat Ryder said. Another 500 soldiers are helping clear emergency routes, and rotary wing aircraft also have been deployed.
More than 6,100 Guardsmen, hundreds of high-water vehicles, and dozens of helicopters and rescue boats from 18 different states have also been placed on active duty status. Ryder said these Guardsmen have been leading the response effort across the impacted region.
The DOD will continue to be fully engaged in the federal and state effort, providing the capabilities that best support needs on the ground.

Three times now I have posted something about FEMA and the government help that people can get, and just general info and somebody came on and tried to say that what I was saying isn't true. They kept insisting. But some other people came on and shut the guy up and said that he was probably Russian or Chinese and to not come on the page to make trouble. Then they blocked him. I wish that more pages would patrol their pages like that so that people wouldn't see this garbage.

Here in NC and I’m listening to the radio chatter. The mf government ain’t doing much at all. It’s all volunteer work and donations and private citizens looking after their fellow human beings. Unite and let’s erase the lies and corruption these nasty people push on us!
If nothing else, saying "no one is helping" is an insult to those literally helping. The people risking their own lives to help others. What a pig.
Even more demoralizing have been the stories coming out of this about volunteers with the means and the willingness and the initiative to help being told by officials that they have to get permission from the government to help, and if they keep helping without permission they will be arrested. There have been several stories leaked out of the area about that.
@@MICHAEL-vy3ch The fire chief was out of line, but volunteers have caused several dangerous near-misses in the air with their drones and helicopters. It is extremely important to coordinate movements in the air and on the ground.

Don't get me wrong, I understand the need for organization, but in such an emergency situation as this, time is of the essence, and debating in committee about who's in charge is just petty.

Ive seen the vids and interviews of citizens on the ground. They say we have neighbors, citizens from other states from contractors of companies clearing mud from our towns streets. We have not seen FEMA. We have seen 6 national guard when they came to town. FEMA was either really late or hadn’t showed up yet. Horseback was not FEMA. I believe the people. I believe FEMA will be working long term in these areas. I have family in N.C.. FEMA is not there. FEMA is not there with chainsaws cutting trees off of roads. I have family a daughter and a mother whose mother is a first cousin. The daughter now has electricity but the mother does not. But she can not reach her mother 30 mins. away to get her to her house. That was of yesterday.
Do you know the role and purpose of FEMA?
You will never see FEMA out there with chainsaws because that's not FEMA's role. This is how so much misinformation gets spread. You have no idea what you're even talking about, yet you feel fully justified in saying they aren't doing anything.
