You know, I wanted to get into Gold-Leaf but I wouldn't want people to say I'm trying to copy your style. You are truly a master at this, and it’s easily yours all the way.

There are so many artists around the world who use gold leaf and so many who have used it before him. If someone is claiming your art is a copy of Vonnart, then it is probably something else about your piece and not the use of gold leaf. That is not something he has discovered for the first time, so you should definitely go out and have fun experimenting with the medium :D

The use of gold leaf in art/sculpture dates back to Egypt so I’d say you’re good 😉

There is nothing wrong with with copying a technique, this is how artists learn: they take inspiration and make the ideas and techniques their own.
You should absolutely try the gold leaf, it is so fun
