I think it's because they had to put it on pause due to the abundance of work going on. We don't know when they were contacted by BHVR for this game. Until Dawn is getting a remaster. And they did state that season 2 of the dark anthology will be put on hold for at least a year. As fans we need to just keep supporting and know they don't want to rush content until they know it's ready.

@@FlowersOfAmity A gaming article I read that talked about the teaser for season 2 of TDPA mentioned that there will be nothing expected for release of 2023 which is why it's going to be season 2.
Considering the fact that in December we'll be getting a full original chapter, in between Castlevania and another Killer Paragraph I'm safe to assume that's gonna be the time window for this game to come out (advertised for 2024) and the chapter is going to be Frank Stone, with the kids and the Iron Hills.

Loved Until Dawn and the Quarry I'm excited to see Supermassive's Take on the world of Dead By Daylight!

Ever since I played Supermassives "Man of Medan" in 2019, I often imagined how some shows would appear as a Dark Pictures game entry. I even wrote a whole set of premonitions for the Spongebob fanmade horror game Around the Clock at Bikini Bottom (on The Game Archivist youtube page) this year.
Recently, I`ve been picturing a game based on "Camp Lazlo" (titled Camp Lazlo: Fallen Worlds), where 6 Bean Scouts (Lazlo, Raj, Clam, Samson, Edward and a raven OC (a reference to the series as the Curator can turn into one)) and 6 Squirrel Scouts (Patsy, Nina, Gretchen, Almondine, Amber (the female rabbit scout) and a beagle OC (a reference to myself, as I owned a female beagle in the 2000`s)) get taken to a nightmare post-apocalypse/other dimension world (using ideas from "Alan Wake", "Silent Hill", and "Forbidden Siren" (main inspiration)) where it looks like it was once a hi-tech civilization but is now in total ruin like it was dragged to hell and back many times.
Here, the 12 must navigate the place while having social interactions that strengthen or weaken group bonds as well as trying to solve challenging puzzles and obstacles in order to progress and find the sole exit to return to their world, which quickly becomes clear it`s easier said than done upon discovering the scouts are not alone in the ruins.
The games enemies are these shadowy reptilian alien creatures (who were once peaceful residents of the now destroyed world) that attack like The Taken in the aforementioned Alan Wake games, and this powerful demonic creature that traverses the world like Du`Met, controls the other shadow creatures and primarily tries to hunt down either Lazlo or Patsy (due to the spider monkey or mongoose breaking this strange, eerie artifact early in the story that housed a small part of the creatures soul, which kickstarts the main antagonists goals) while also trying to slaughter the rest of their group should any cross paths with it.
It`s later revealed the creature is the source of the worlds (and many others) ruin through its supernatural powers, and plans to regain its full strength via a new host in order to destroy the main "Camp Lazlo" universe (which could actually play out in the worst ending if Lazlo and Patsy are the only two left alive in the final chapter and the artifact breaker didn`t have an exorcism-like ceremony performed on them prior, resulting in one getting mostly devoured and the other transforming into the next similar looking incarnation of the creature, returning it to full power & apocalypse unleashing status, destroying the scouts universe and leaving for another one to continue the cycle afterwards).
There`s also a major bonus chapter near the end to play if you keep all 12 characters alive and exorcized the part of the creatures soul from Lazlo/Patsy prior, as they can try and destroy the evil entity for good in a complex plan that plays out like Mass Effect 2`s suicide mission (where the difficulty is always at lethal mode even if one played on an easier one prior, and can only be accessed if the aforementioned requirements are met, as even one prior casualty to the group and/or the possession status of Lazlo/Patsy is enough to discourage the remaining scouts from trying, resulting instead a final tense escape segment to their home world that can have everyone live or die).
A collaboration of two games that I didn’t think of, would actually work as a crossover.
i hope this goes much further into the entity, and shows more signs of dbd originals like huntress' mask

I get the term casting as the characters are making a movie and it’s an iron mill but I’d hate to graze over the fact that there’s speculation of Frank being the first killer “casted” in the trials, the entity is definitely involved and this could be a prequel

That's really cool, but if I may ask, do we have to go through all the tome archives from Dead by Daylight to understand the stories? I know that in the Dead by Daylight bunch there are histories of the Survivors and the Killers. Is it important to know this or is this like spoiler free?
I imagine it'll have the same overall narrative of how the entity works and stuff but it will be an isolated story in a small town not relevant to the story of characters in the game now

@@drunklord9471 Doubt it, I think the steel mil is a ,,bleed". It was stated that entity can kidnap people from places where brutal murders were conducted. ,,Bleed" is a place where entitys realm and real world overlap, like the crotus pen asylum where Nea was taken by entity. I think that during the game characters will be unknowingly transported into the realm, where they will be hunted by Frankie who at this point is a killer. One of the endings will be of them escaping or remaining in the realm for eternity, like characters from regular dbd.
i mean if you've ever been timer stalled by blood warden in dbd, which is rare, you'll see the entity does rarely help out

@@Josie.770 It is yes but it does have gameplay. It's mostly exploration but you still walk around and things like that, there's also a lot of quick time events for the chase sequences and you choose different places to run to or hide in.
Love the double entendre in the title. Casting could refer to the fact the survivors are making a movie but also could be a reference to the phrase "he who is without sin, let him be the first to cast a stone" with Frank's name. Im hella hype for this game 🙏🏻
Plus the song played during the first teaser, "Daylight" makes many references to sinners and bloodshed, which is some raw theming

I think that's actually a bit normal for young movie makers to use abandoned places as their settings. They definitely needed some kind of security guy to keep them safe but something tells me they don't have the budget for that

Thank god, I've been waiting for SO LONG for this trailer. I'm glad they're finally doing 4 instead of 5 characters. Every game they released it always felt like there was just 1-2 characters who were just irrelevant to the main plot.

@@krudonovan5894 That's usually what they are, characters that die at the start/middle of the game for shock value and early kills. There is usually "Main" characters who can't die until the final chapter (Mark, Salim, Jason, Andrew, etc) and then characters who can die in the middle/near the start (Erin, Eric, Angela). Only exception to this is Conrad, he can die at the literal first ecounter in the game but ends up being the most playable character.

It seems like rhe entity will either try to kill the film crew using frank stone or it could use their murder mill film to try and attack the real world.
it would be really interesting if maybe Frank and The Entity are fighting in the sense that Frank just wants to kill the film crew, meanwhile The Entity wants to use the film crew to spread its influence across Earth and therefore needs them to survive, but at the same time it cannot just kill Frank as it may be wanting to induct Frank into the realms cast of killers.
It is comfirmed in some tomes that the entity has become so strong, that it devours worlds. Also, it is a theory of the observer, that his world has fallen prey of such fate too. I believe this is how the entity manifests in worlds when is doing such

DBD has amazing talent behind the characters and lore. I stopped playing because the gameplay got repetitive and too meta. But this is something my family would enjoy.

It does help that they have a better budget and could build this game on modern, actually good code. I love DBD, but I can't deny that it's basically a cheap game from 2016 that got lucky enough to gain a die hard cult fanbase.

The gameplay loop is just bad now.
The newer killer has multiple attacks, and that will help, but it’s only 1 of 30 or so now.
So... I think that this game takes place in a self-sustaining causal loop, in which a film causes a Fracture to open up in the Cedar Hills Cinema and through the film people are brought under the influence of the Entity and begin rioting. Frank Stone, having seen the film in a preview, simultaneously proceeds to slaughter multiple people at the steel mill before being incapacitated by police.
The protagonists are shooting a film named Murder Mill, which causes a mass panic, and Frank Stone begins his killing spree all over again, this time with the Entity backing him up.
I'm pretty sure the last couple of audio recordings we've gotten are confirmation of this theory, but I could always be wrong.

I don’t think so, the dialogue indicates Murder Mill is the original film, which links to the poster being hidden and the riots I think Frank recorded his actions (as we see him in the movie playing in the original trailer) and then put them in the Murder Mill movie. Either his closeness to The Entity led to mass hysteria, or there were riots due to the real deaths in the film. The protagonists are making their own film, possibly inspired by Murder Mill
I think the events of Macmillans and The Trapper happened in this world and are urban legend now that people made movies and stuff about and these young kids wanting to make their own version of a movie find the actual location and/or channel The Trapper or the entitity without knowing it and he possesses one of them to start killing
The monsters are escaping the realm is what it sounded like from the tapes
Let's remember that the entity can bring it killers in whatever world it wants and abduct them again, basically being at its mercy. There can be a lot going on. BHVR made sure that the lore is as flexible as possible. Also, let's also take in consideration what the observer said, that even some fictional characters from one world can be actually real in another and viceversa... Take this with you on the Murder Mill part...

Oh honey..that was the gameplay-
It’s an interactive horror movie where you make choices,depending on your choices you will either see a character live or die and it changes the narrative. There are a few moments where you can free roam but their short and only there for finding clues. There’s also chase sequences where you have to do QTES and the other stuff like ((heart beat,don’t move,don’t breath ect))

It's actually nice to see Dead by Daylight developers making a spin-off with lore from DbD. I'm really curious what topics and characters this game is gonna envolve, I already noticed The Huntress's mask in 1:36 and what seems to be The Entity in the sky in 1:37; and since this happens in the Mill, wich is connected to The Trapper's backstory (I think), this makes me believe that the killer in 1:22 is The Trapper.

@@Puppet_Alvesfrank stone is a completely separate person from the legion and trapper lol. The point of this game is to kinda show us how/why the whole realm with killers and survivors even started. Supposedly Frank stone was the first person to come in contact with the entity although I’m not so sure if that’s true.

The casting of Frank Stone, to me, implies that this game will have us witness what/who the entity deems worthy of taking to its realm, thus "casting" Frank Stone as part of the roster of killers and beings from other worlds. And the tones align with this story considering the main characters are making a horror film. The entity directs and produces its films

I feel like we already have so much story in-game that it'd be pointless. We already know the full story. Only ones I see being worth making a game are Oni and Deathslinger, since they could be fun gameplay-wise.

That’s what the game is, basically an interactive movie. The only difference is that there’s no hud elements.

Mmm.. those facial expressions seem.. really bad.
However props to Frank Stone, seems like his casting is gonna go well to get the role of main character.
That girl with the camera is a certifiable psychopath. "Oh, shit! My coworker is dying on the floor! I'm thinking, dramatic approach, focus the camera on the expression of agony. Yeah. Yeah. This is great stuff! Work it for the camera! Really nail the dying in front of someone unwilling to help look. I'm so gonna get a Grammy for this."
That shit was probably gonna be a 10 minute short horror film but the instant they get attacked the girl's neurons activate.
