Is it still ok to use the ice cream maker machine even if there is Tapioca starch? I'm planning to refrigerate the mixture overnight before I place in the machine, but I wonder if cooling the mixture with the starch will affect the texture?
It's 1 am in Manila and I cannot wait for it to be morning so I can head out and get the ingredients and make this. Thank youuuu for giving my life a purpose
Made this today - rose water and cardamom flavoured though. Turned out spectacular! Shared it with friends who can't stop going back for 1 more bite. The texture in particular is fantastic! Thanks for the recipe 😊
It reminds me of how they serve "kulfi" ice cream in cubes in Indian restaurants. Thank you for the recipe. Will buy some Chatime Thai Milk Tea and try this
@@hannahwalmer1124 No, I mean TV series on Netflix made from different Asian countries. There are a lot of Kdramas. But I watch Asian shows from other locations too. Thailand isn't the only place that makes cubed ice cream. It might be a little bit different in other countries, though.
Oh pailin i just found myself to keep saying that during this video. What a wonderful recipe it makes me so happy i already have the thai tea leaves ready to go and to make this your videos put such a smile on my face i love your energy and your hilarious as well. Thank you for being you so kind and i learn alot from you :)
It reminds me of one of my favorite ice cream shops. They serve ice cream like that too, but not plain. They cover them in marshmallow and torch them, sandwich them, etc..and the Thai tea flavor is my favorite! I miss their ice cream, so I’ll definitely have to make this 😍😍 thank you!
Oh man!!! It reminds me of Potong Ais Krim (Bahasa Malay word for CUT ice cream) back in Singapore sold by men in carts a long time ago. This is so nostalgic and I now can recreate this at home in Australia. 😃
I'm on covid isolation so my mother in law kindly dropped off the ingredients so I could make this! Except I already had the tea and tapioca starch, handily enough. Just cooling now... can't wait to freeze it and give it a taste!
Update... the covid must have made me forgetful because I forgot to put the whipping cream in! Soooo, it's really chewy. Ah well, next time I'll get it right! 🤣🤣
In Indonesia we do have this kind of ice cream bars. Just as you described, it's soft and chewy, so tasty. My favorite is chocolate flavored ones. Thanks for the recipe, I can make my own now ❤️❤️
When I make Thai tea I put the tea into a fine mesh strainer bag that is also used for beer brewing. You put the hop pellets into it during the boil to contain the mess. Any-who, after the tea has steeped I just remove the bag. Easy-peezy.
I grew up with bright orange Thai iced tea. Just like the bright red pistachios people realized that all that food coloring was not a good idea. Doesn't stop me from being super nostalgic about it.
We love to make our own ice cream but it will, sometimes get too hard to dip. The tapioca is a cool idea and I never thought there was anything you could do to change it. Thanks for your wisdom and for sharing it with us. Now to get some starch and make some ice cream.
With your variant I will supplement my previous Danish liquorice ice cream ❣️. Starch, this is a great tip for creaminess. Thanks. This Thai tea ice cream refreshes and certainly tastes very good. Thank you very much.
Amazing recipe!! Love the tip of using starch for the chewy ice cream! Your recipes and channel are awesome!! ❤️ I want so bad to do this ice cream, but i wanted to make homemade thai tea mix from scratch without the food coloring and using the spices. I’ve looked for this recipe in your blog but I didn’t find, so i leave this suggestion here for a future recipe. 🥰
How delicious. Can't wait to try making this. In Malaysia, it's called ice cream potong. "Potong" means cut. They're getting increasingly hard to find and also expensive. My favorite flavour is red beans 😝
Definitely trying this! Thanks for sharing! This reminds me of the melona ice cream bars! I’ve always wondered how the texture is so soft n smooth n they melt quickly too! So yummy to eat!
Thanks for all the tips Pai :) Made this non-dairy using coconut cream and soy whipped cream. I was too lazy to go hunt for Thai tea here in the UK so substituted with assam, vanilla essence and orange food coloring lol
A QUICK IDEA - please make a series of videos like - using XXX in kitchen - for example star anise, lemon grass, tofu and so on. Often I buy somtn to prepare some dish and I end up spoiling the rest of it, just because I find it hard to use it somewhere else. If there was a lookup series, that would be extremely helpful.

8:09 never need to run "hot" water on to unfreeze. Just use room temp or even cool water. It will still be warmer than freezing and just enough.

Can you share YOUR recipe bc that sounds awesome as well!
Another easy way to brew Thai Tea is in a coffee pot. I grew up with my dad teaching me that and it’s easy and mess free.
My childhood icecream.คิดถึงบ้านค่ะ
Just bought the ingredients to make this for my husband's birthday!
I love Thai tea, so I know I'll really live these popcicles ❤️
I can imagine getting a giant bunch of fresh pandan leaves and making it into ice cream so yummy.
Pandan ice cream 🤤

Never thought of adding starch to an ice cream base, but now that I think about it, it makes so much sense! Genius!
I'm telling you.... she is the best
@H wow... that's nice to know
Italian Gelato often uses starch in the base.
I use a combination of egg yolks and starch. I make Italian style ice creams.
I tried this recipe today! Delicious! I’ll make it again with tapioca pearls 🧋
Cheers from San Diego California
Oh with pearls what a good idea thank you
do pearls freeze well?

Pailin, I gotta admit it ... you are a very good teacher ... very knowledgeable
Watched this one for like a 4th time and ur previous thai tea ice cream video as well. Glad that the orange colored thai tea era is not over yet.
I've been wondering how the ice cream I see in the Asian dramas I watch, could be in that cube shape. This is pretty interesting 🤔 Thank you 😊❤️
Asian dramas? Do you mean Thai?

Been keeping sweet and condensed milk just for this purpose. Good tips 👍 thank you Thai tea 🍵☕ yummi
I think everyone surprise the way you use starch like this. never comes in my mind to put starch in ice-cream lol
We also do this in 🇵🇭 for ice candy! We only use cornstarch slurry and boy, the flavored ice will never crystalize and will be oh so smooth
It is revolutionary I'm totally making this ASAP
Wow, very easy! And I like how when you make it by yourself, you can diversify the shapes by your own taste 😇
Awesome idea with tapioca starch ! will try it out once
That looks delicious! I never had this kind of ice cream, gotta try and make it soon! Thank you, Pailin 🥰
