Given the current state of Ukraine, I suspect they won’t be exporting any of these anytime soon. And probably haven’t exported any in the past couple years. The design is so simplistic, I’d just weld one up from scratch next time. Make the body out of fiberglass.
Im building my own sidecar since i found it its cheaper and now im trying to learn where are the connections i mean where they should be and i also found out that angles are important for your steering so all the rods are adjustable for different lengths for angles now this video really did help after numerous of videos of this 😄 (sorry for any misspelling english is not my first language)
I noticed a serious lack of videos on the subject when I did my rig. Not too hard at all to build the sidecar yourself, next time I build a rig, that’s what I plan to do.
I have a Harley/Watsonian rig and 3 Urals. One from the 'old days'. We replaced every piece of hardware on it... When you said from Ukraine, I actually thought, oh,. this should be fun... enjoying the hell out of this...impressed with how much frame there is to mount to!
oh, welcome to the world of Goodenov... taking body off good idea. warkshop.com is a good resource, good guy, and he mounts and paints sidecars rigs. Does excellent work. Got cut off pieces of those brackets laying around, yes I do. Just used a hack saw... oh this is fun.
I would weld gussets at every 90 degree corner. That would be easy to do and would make the frame a lot stronger even with those Ukrainian welds. I have a Dnepr MT-11 sidecar motorcycle which was made in Kiev Ukraine. It has the same style of welds but all the joints have gussets. KMZ (Kiev Motorcycle Factory) made Dnepr motorcycles for the Soviet Union military and for foreign military sales. Ural motorcycles were built for civilian sales and export. Later KMZ asked for permission to sell heavy motorcycles to civilians and for unlimited export to countries like Canada and the U.K. KMZ was building 125,000 motorcycles a year before the collapse of the Soviet Union union in 1991. After that Dnepr motorcycles a started being sold in the USA but were never popular due to their weight and military gearing. A Dnepr could haul 3 people, their gear, and a 1/4 ton trailer at 45 mph all day long. A Ural could never do that.
Yeah I fell for this guy's trap on ebay too. The wheel bearings were shot, axle not even the correct size and the guy won't respond. I actually found you on amazon, looks like you were buying a trailer hub. Can't wait to watch the rest of these videos to see what you came up with!
from the center of the rear wheel on your bike to the center of the chair wheel should be 1200mm and from the center of the rear axle on the bike to the center of the chair axle it should be 250mm forward ... i know you hate metric ...but hey what can you do thats how the rest of the world works lol i race sidecars as well as having fitted one to a GS650 for the road and would strongly recommend a good steering head dampener not a cheep one
I was considering a Cozy Euro replica of a Steib LS 200 sidecar but if that was an example of the factory quality I'm not so sure about it. That looked like some junk my neighbor would make.
If the sidecar came from outside the USA, then the bolts are metric. Anyway, just measure across the head of the hex in SAE & Metric and figure out what you have.
Pretty nutty remarks about the welds, and those are much cleaner than arc welds. Checking those regularly would be like checking your spark plugs daily... but piece of shit overall, sure.
Sure, it’s still “on sale” for $700 off. Heh. redwolfsidecars.com/shop?olsPage=products%2Flrn Make sure you watch the other videos, this thing has some very dangerous design flaws.
I'm looking at this for my vtx.....cool ...and Ukraine...!!."at its best....!?!?...😳😏😉the big pliers match perfect...😖😂.....da...!...😜the sledge hammer..priceless...😳...looking good.....
ok I'm not trying to wind anyone up but............. start with a flat surface get a lazer level and mark it all out in chalk on your nice level surface stick to the measurements i have given you below .... you need to know if your chair wheel and bike wheel are correctly vertical and you really need to know if chair wheel is straight or toe in etc....... if you don't get all these things spot on ....you may be looking at the worst tank slapper from hell ..... i had one that tank slapped every time i tried to slow down ....it took a long time to actually be able to stop and was really really scary .... i was lucky to be on a very long and very straight country road
Green in that shade is a Kawasaki colour. About the hardware, Ukraine is at war. With Putin's co. so you're lucky to get it at all. You could slip the window off and rotate that frame, possibly? You want a good high strength steel band from the axle nut to the front step so it can't hang the wheel up accidentally? It looks like the wheel alignment is totally fudged also. But I'm watching on a wanky cell device so the imagery is probably distorted to F?!
Poorly balanced, crooked and poorly mounted headlight, tire that isn't even DOT approved... what could go wrong? Wouldn't put my 12 pack of Bud in that sidecar.
Apollo sidecar, sold by Redwolf Sidecars. Sorry but looking at this sidecar and seeing the poor construction from the welding to the seat upholstery to the dented body work and misaligned parts: this should be a $300 item TOPS!! The hardware also seems used/old. The tire is an story in itself.... Redwolf should be ashamed to even sell this crap and try to make a profit on this unsafe vehicle as it is intended to be used on public roads and (shudder) highways. After seeing this vid, I will definitely stay away from Apollo and Redwolf side cars. I will look for an honest manufacturer/seller who sells a good product. Or, I might buy the plans of my liking and build my own sidecar.
Gotta say I totally agree. The next sidecar rig I build, I’ll just do it from scratch from the ground up. $300 in steel and I’ll do the body in fiberglass.
I plan on buying one of these. Thank you for demonstrating the manufacturing faults and the installation. I will probably have those welds redone.

"Want sugar in your tea?" gotta love it. Thanks for posting this. I'm mounting a Rocket (Cozy) after I recover from a slight touch of Covid.

After seeing what you have shown me I think I going to make one from scratch I can weld and fabricat but your video has given me a lot of ideas
That’s a good plan. If I did another one, I’d do that as well.
I have a Harley/Watsonian rig and 3 Urals. One from the 'old days'. We replaced every piece of hardware on it...

I just bought a Watsonian GP 700 to add onto my 01 Road King any tips

Thank you for taking the time.
Great videos. Trying to locate where to purchase adjusting rods you used and wha t are they called? Clevis, turnbuckle? Thanks
Search for “Sidecar mounting kit” on eBay.
Take your dog for a ride.
That's funny
I bought my sidecar
just for my dog.
BEST MONEY I EVER SPENT
No sugar in your tea?! What kind of madman are you?!
Did you or could you take measurements?
I have been searching with no luck trying to find sidecar plans.
from the center of the rear wheel on your bike to the center of the chair wheel should be 1200mm and from the center of the rear axle on the bike to the center of the chair axle it should be 250mm forward ... i know you hate metric ...but hey what can you do thats how the rest of the world works lol i race sidecars as well as having fitted one to a GS650 for the road and would strongly recommend a good steering head dampener not a cheep one

Holly sh!t, thanks for the vid, great warning, that has to be the worst product i've seen a while.
Whats the dimensions of that side car frame? I want to make my own.
The correct reply should've been 'No, thank you/thanks' when asked about sugar in the tea !
Oh no. I just checked the release date on this video. 😅😅😅😅😂 Yeah well time wise I'm out of date and too late to comment below. 😬Sorry about that 🤣😂😅😐

Where is it made , welding wow ??
The Ukraine. Yeah, not a sidecar I’d recommend.
It's so cool!
Such appalling quality I can’t believe this is a factory new sidecar.
I am probably going to use other grade 8 fasteners.
I want one so bad for a versys 1000.
where did you get the reflective tape
Amazon

Geat Video. Can you post a link for the sidecar? :-)
Sure, it’s still “on sale” for $700 off. Heh.

They are India sidecars.
Ukrainians actually make some pretty good sidecars.
ok I'm not trying to wind anyone up but............. start with a flat surface get a lazer level and mark it all out in chalk on your nice level surface stick to the measurements i have given you below .... you need to know if your chair wheel and bike wheel are correctly vertical and you really need to know if chair wheel is straight or toe in etc....... if you don't get all these things spot on ....you may be looking at the worst tank slapper from hell ..... i had one that tank slapped every time i tried to slow down ....it took a long time to actually be able to stop and was really really scary .... i was lucky to be on a very long and very straight country road
I get some head shake as I pass 35mph. Pretty minor at that. No damper and I’ve got over 1,000 miles on the thing now. It’s doing fine.
I could have built you something out of that dog crate that would have been better
Happy cureny

Or,
You could go straight to a Ural Gear Up, and go anywhere you ever wanted to.
Not at this price. And not without the pride of craftsmanship.
cool
Poorly balanced, crooked and poorly mounted headlight, tire that isn't even DOT approved... what could go wrong? Wouldn't put my 12 pack of Bud in that sidecar.
That looks like a really bad knock off of an Inder Sidecar
Those welds look like shit

welds dont have to be pretty to be good
Perhaps. But they have to be good to be pretty. You can’t have a great looking weld that’s bad.
Those sidecars are total crap and I wouldn’t trust it on anything
Totally agree. This video series is NOT an endorsement of these death traps. Not to be used by someone who can’t reengineer it themselves.
