    When you have a difficult piece to unmold you can put a couple drops of alcohol down one side and massage it around, this will release the friction between the resin and silicone mold.

    Those discs would look great as under-lighting in the aberration clone tanks that feature regularly in our campaign. When the party enters the lights would be off. When they foolishly trigger some protocol, the steady lights would be turned on, and a count-down would begin. "Warning, clear the area, emergency tank purge initiated." After another interval the lights would begin to flash, then soon flash more rapidly. "You have 60 seconds to reach minimum safe distance." You get the gist.

    Ahh I love these!! Those discs look so good - so many ideas! Using a silicone stirring stick can also help reduce bubbles when mixing. You can also mix your mica in isopropyl alcohol first before adding the resin. As someone else already said, you can spritz the moulds with alcohol before you pour to reduce the surface tension in intricate moulds. If moulds are being rude and not letting it out afterwards, a bit of soapy water poured into the mould between the resin and the silicone will really help release the cured resin. I felt your pain on that one. Give Biscuit a cuddle from your fans!

    I might grab some of these when I get a chance, I had issues with resin before and had everything prepared.

      Thanks mate!! Yeah I was relieved it went so well.... Honestly I think if you are just careful with the ratio and really spend a good minute mixing the resin you should be fine. Although I'd say stick to a 1 to 1 ration resin as its easier to get it right I think...

      haha yeah, had to keep that in just so people can see the struggle lol I don't think a mould release would make a huge difference, I could see that it wasn't stuck to the silicon ... it's just the way the shards where poking in different directions so it really wanted to stay in!! Love your videos and have been inspired enough to order some xps foam to try and make some terrain and buildings (I'm semi retired and looking for a new hobby). I don't play or know anything about D&D or Warhammer etc but wondering would any type of setting/building fit with D&D for e.g. could I make a volcano with lava or a fantasy portal or an Egyptian pyramid or is D&D more restricted to castle ruins and stone bridges?

    • @Nat1videos
      @Nat1videos  Рік тому

      Hey! I'm so glad you are taking steps in to the hobby. As to your question, the settings are super flexible... lava terrain is great, egyptian themes are great....fantasy portals are awesome. The only limits are your imagination really. I usually come from the perspective of , what do I want to make?? and then just go for it. You can build stories and worlds around it. Also, there are other game systems other than DND too , so you can pretty much do what ever you like and there will be a game or setting that suits it :D

    • @Nat1videos
      @Nat1videos  Рік тому

      @@VoodooTabletopCrafts For buildings it is a bit more flexible because if you where to work to true 28mm scale some things would be so big they are not practical... @@Nat1videos ua-cam.com/video/4fqjrFzR0HE/v-deo.html this was a great video for learning how, but a few things I learned, food colouring I wouldn't use again, it went flaky in the solution, clothes dye works much better and I used a lot more than this guy A LOT MORE! I went for a metal jug and he mentions cooling it down slower aswell as a lot of borax yields bigger crystals, so I lined a burlap sack with clothes and surrounded the jug with more clothes, slowing the process down, I got some nice results but over time the crystals I made, even though I coated them in varnish lost colour and shape, they just looked awful, personally I won't use borax again though it was fun in spite of the mishaps, I was thinking I would just use a real (though expensive) crystal for the project I have in mind.
