    I have the same grill. My #1 tip is don't let your pellets get wet in the auger, or you're gonna have a BAD time. Don't hose the unit down with pellets in the auger. Get a cover to keep them dry while storing.

    I have to share this with y’all and it may be known but it blew me away. I was cleaning my pit boss vert smoker but I decided to use DAWN WIPES. Boy it made easy clean up of the glass especially but it worked on all surfaces. $5.94 at Target and Walmart. Anything to help make

    I really enjoy your videos. One thing I do when I’m smoking is not to fill my hopper with too many pellets. That makes it easier to change types of pellets for different meals. Then when I clean out the hopper I also run the auger till it’s clean. I’ve got the same smoker that you have and your tips have been very helpful. Keep it up and thanks.

    Great video and thanks for sharing. One thing I would add is make sure the grease tray is inserted the correct way. When I looked at my smoker at Lowes, they had the tray backwards because the one end looks like a handle. I thought you were going to mention it when talking about the foil...which by the way is a life saver. Keep it up, you give me inspiration to keep smoking

    I love your videos Zack. I have the same Pro Series and did my first cook this past Tuesday. It was a windy day and I just couldn't get the pit to get to the 250 temp that I set it at. I kept messing with the smoke stack to see if I could get the temp to increase when I really needed was some patience and let the pit do its thing. Once it reached to 250 it held the temp pretty constant. Zack, where can we get that smoke tube, you talk about? On the back of my pit, when I lift up the pellet door, I have a grate and I can't just put my hand in there to check on the pellets. You're right about having a plan because it takes time and patience to smoke foods, period. Great job Zack, looking forward to seeing some of your cook videos,

    Here’s my super rookie/stupid mistake during my first smoke on New Year’s Eve. I moved my smoker to the back of my yard so the smoke wouldn’t come into my house. After about 13 hours of cooking a brisket a grease fire started. Little did I know, the ground (grass) wasn’t level and the grease leaked to the front of my smoker, causing the fire. I haven’t cleaned it since, but will work on it this week. I have yet to see if I’ve ruined my smoker.
    Rookie tip…. Make sure you’re smoking on a level surface. 🤦🏽‍♂️🤣😭

    Have you ever tried using playground sand instead of water? It retains heat better than water, doesn't spill and unless your smoking meats that are not moist, doesn't add excess moisture to the cooking chamber which can lead to a sour taste to the bark.

    • @TheAmericanSmoke
      @TheAmericanSmoke  Рік тому +1

      Sand ya say? 🤔
      I’ve been planning on adding a few large stones to the chamber to see how they effect chamber temp stability. Sand sounds cool. I may pick some up.

      Not a bad idea. But, If your going to do that, why not just start the smoker a little earlier with the sand in it?

    Help Please. I have the same smoker. Question. I smoked a pork butt last Friday. All was going well when it suddenly quit and shut down at hour 11. I finished it in the oven. The next day I was going to smoke some baby back ribs but I couldn’t get the smoke to start. The on button was grayed out. The fuse was gone so I replaced the fuse and I could start it again. But an ERR message appeared. the fan light was lit and running but the igniter light was flashing. I ordered a new igniter (it has not arrived yet). Do you have a video on how to check, clean, change the igniter?
    Thanks’

    • @TheAmericanSmoke

    • @TheAmericanSmoke

      I removed it. I couldn’t see any real purpose to it. I’m sure it was a legal issue against some worst case scenario.

    • @TheAmericanSmoke
      @TheAmericanSmoke  Рік тому

      If anything separate the flat from the point. It may fit after trimming though. Trim it first, then separate if need be. Smoke the point on the hotter level of shelf, depending on how your smoker performs.

      So, the cool thing about these smokers is that they come with a 5 year warranty right out of the box. I’m not sure if it transfers or not, but that would be the first thing I would check. Pit Boss customer service is the best. Get your cereal number and call them. Try to register it first and if it’s already been registered, tell them your situation and see what your options are. 1877 303 3134.

  • @southgeorgianole2668

    Is there a way to combat the temperature difference between the set temperature vs the actual chamber temp? I understand a small difference. But I’m currently getting about an 80 degree difference. I have to set my Pit Boss to 170 to get an actual inside chamber temperature of 250. I’ve checked this with 3 different thermometers. All of them tell me the chamber is around 80 degrees hotter than my set temp.

    • @TheAmericanSmoke
      @TheAmericanSmoke  Рік тому +1

      I’ve not had that problem. I’m on the other end of the spectrum, where it’s cooler in the chamber than what I have it set to. What type of pellets are you burning?

    • @southgeorgianole2668
      @southgeorgianole2668 Рік тому

      I’d rather have your problem of lower actual temp. Can’t get low enough to make jerky or smoked fish right now. I have a brand new bag of B&B championship blend at the moment.

    • @TheAmericanSmoke
      @TheAmericanSmoke  Рік тому

      The only advice I can give is perhaps your pellets are burning really hot. Some do.
      Other than that, it’s either a thermostat or computer problem. Pit Boss will send you a new thermostat quickly if you tell them what’s going on.
      Check this video out if they do.
