Hey Allison! I love you videos! I've been out of the ring for decades and now going back with a wolfhound pup. I want so desperately to show him to the best of our ability! How do you recommend entering the ring? Have dog moving his best as well as me to have him noticed.

Ahhhh the free stack....an important part indeed!
I sometimes watch the judge as I'm coming back down to see where he/she might have moved, to give me an idea of how/ where we should stop.

That's perfect! I do preach that you should watch what the judge does with the classes before you to be better prepared! Thank you for your comment!

Even if I am not in dog show, always like to go watch, it is more fun now that I understand I little better with your explaination. 😊 I have one question which I seem not to find any where... is it by brushing him and play with his paws that you get to have a dog that really doesn’t move on the table, I will have my fourth dog next year and unfortunely I was never able to cut there nail, because I never got them to hold still like the dog in dog show...could you help me please

      Hello
      Thank you for your comments.
I think that "playing" with their feet is not really how to teach them to stay. It does make them more comfortable on the table which is good. I like to start by having them comfortable and then doing one or two nails and stopping before they are upset and continuing with something fun and then another nail or two. I hope this makes sense. Please feel free to look at our UA-cam video on how to do the nails and email us for more help. allison@leadingedgedogshow.com

My dogs a boxer so we are almost always first in the ring, makes it tough lol. Is it ok to show the non show side during the free bait?

Yes it is - if you think that is the best side to show (maybe markings, etc.) then go for it. Good luck!

So when watching the earlier classes with the judge, how do we know if they want the dog to stop straight after the down and back? If someone gives a side profile will the judge make them do it over?

That is why you watch so you know what direction to stand. And the judge may ask you to re-do it or just ask you to face them!
