Hi guys I'm from Perth Western Australia I'm a workshop structural welder and Boilermaker love your videos guys learning alot thanks heaps bros yewwww 👍
Roustabout came from the circus world back in the old days. They put up the tents with help from the riggers and the elephants. The riggers grew into the ironworkers trade. My grandfather was an orphan who ran away with the circus at age 11. He became a roustabout, then a rigger at age 18. He hired on with American Bridge, then a part of Bethlaham Steel and grew into a journeyman Ironworker. He progressed up the line till he retired working as the superintendent building gas fired power plants. Not bad for a man with a 5th grade diploma.
I like how you talk good about welder helpers I used to be a helper now I'm a welder I was a helper on offshore pipelines working on all allseas pipe lay vessels
roustabout is exactly that a jack of all trades that goes anywhere to do any job, with the testing we go above what the continuous pressure is going to be and its typically 8hr test or more if theres an issue and when they are putting their mark on the stuff they worked on another person needs to inspect their work and sign off on it as well so theres two ppl who get heat when something fails :)
Yea that was a real cool Miller machine. I saw one i a catalog once that had an air compressor built in to the machine. You filming in there store looked like good advertising for them, and free. Their loss.
Hydro testing is exactly what you said they pump water or whatever into it and build the pressure up to a certain psi to check for leaks! I’ve had 0 leaks so far on my welds🤘🏼
I’ve got a quick question do you put air bags on all your trucks ? I had to once I built my bed and put a machine on it . My truck squatted pretty bad after I put all that extra weight on.
Yea basically u guys are talking about Boilermakers, Millwrights & Hydros crew jobs.. not pipe welding. I know what u guys are talking about. I work constrution jobs & shutdowns. I was a helper through those crafts. Now I'm a Structural welder.. Great video. .
Thanks for the video idea Josh. No shame in saying you don't know something. Ask and learn, store it away. Keep your eyes open and your mouth shut is a good rule to follow. Jake, how do you get around the auxiliary power limitations of the SA on the job. My 66 Redface only has like 8 amps of D.C. Power. I just use a 4.5" Dewalt grinder that's rated for D.C. I know the blackface machines have more, but not that much more. Thanks
SA 200 less upfront ($2000-3500) but cost more in the long run & DC aux power only [in fuel because it burns at least a gallon an hour to a gallon and a half]. SA 250. 4000-6500 More up front but cheaper in the long run ( they burn a half gallon to a gallon of fuel)
Ok Scofield, here's a freebee. Get your parts list together and have someone brake all your parts for different size beds and brands. Figure out your cost and triple it and you don't have to touch it.Let them buy it on line and have different packages and prices depending on wants. You won't have to burn a rod.
Hydro test pipe is fill up with water and pressure and the pressure has to hold up to 4hrs to 8hrs. Some are 800 pound pressure. Some are different. When pressuring up you must clear the area because it could bust.
I’m a journeyman welder so I travel a lot and ppl have different names for tools or other things and I have to stop and be like what the fuck are u talking about lmao 😂
Y’all need to understand not everybody wants cameras in their business. Y’all are lucky to film on the row. All companies are different about filming on the job site.
Hi there, I am in charge of marketing for General Air. We are sorry we couldn't let you film in our stores, we typically don't allow filming without prior notice due to security concerns. We would love to have you back for a guided tour that you would be more than welcome to film. Please send me an email at agierat@generalair.com to discuss!
Hey Jake, love the videos, but, just because you have the ability to film, doesn't always give you the right. It is a place of business. Maybe if you had asked, permission would have been given. I work with a lot of stores and would expect most all of them to do the same thing. Regardless, keep the videos coming.
