I've been searching for an easy granny stitch pattern for my hot water bottle and I'm sooo glad i found this. Such an easy and straightforward tutorial... thank you xx
Excellent cover, love it. Of course this means trouble again as it's given me more ideas for projects. I'm not going to be able to sleep tonight thinking of things I can do like this!!
Thank you so much Clare! This is only the third time I′ve crocheted something and it came out so good, your tutorial was super easy to follow even for me as a beginner. Thank you so much! 😁
I love this and have the perfect Yarn ;-) I have just ordered 2 cream water bottles after seeing this so I can make matching covers for my parents Anniversary in early January x They are always cold in Winter so it will be ace :-) I have to say instead of joining in the chain and ending up with a seam in the top section.......... You could join with slip stitch into the first stitch of the round you have just done ignoring the chain 1 space that started the row and then chain 1 and sc in same stitch as you joined in to start your next round and away you go again. It's the same method as the invisible seam used in hats and since discovering it I use it on every project I can lol Hope you don't mind me saying as you are so much more knowledgeable that me and I have only been crocheting for a couple of years and learnt from you, Thanks

Thank you for the great tutorial and I could alter the neck part as suggested to suit my needs. I'm a beginner and cannot read patterns as yet and my hot water bottle cover turned out great
Thanks so much for the tutorial. This took me about 2 hours and was easy to complete. I made this with cream and light mocha yarn. I'm giving it to my Mum for xmas!
Great tutorial! I just started this pattern and it s one of my first crochet pattern (I am used to doing knitting but I cant find a hot water bottle cover that I like knitting) Your instructions are very clear and my work is going well. I just wish you did the ends a couple more times as I am having a hard time and for some reason the pattern online is not working... Oh well I will figure it out! Thank you for this awesome tutorial!
like wise, i couldn't work our where to go after the base when she moved on to the main body part, a few more rounds would of been great, its the ends where i got lost. How ever i gave up after many attempts.
I've almost finished making this pattern (from video only, I'm still learning to read written pattern's) I have a question though, for each round, when you slip stitch into the chain 2, did you slip stitch across until you got the next opening of the cluster like at the beginning? at 14:33 in the video, when you describe about possibly changing colours. I'd love to hear from you in regards to this. Thank you so much, it's lovely to watch and follow a fellow Aussie
I’m wondering about this too. Wish the video went a vit longer as I’m not sure howto do the 4th round. Repeating the 3rdround doesn’t make sense to me.
@@jadesimmins9269 I did make and finish the one I done, I believe I slightly changed the pattern. But it's been so long since I even watched this video or made the item I've forgotten
@@CrochetwithClare bet you havent made extras for the two dogs as well, thinking about making a couple more so the cats can have a hottie each as well.
Hi. I have made a few if these. Thanks for the great video I was wondering if you have a pattern where the opening is at the lower end or how i can adapt this one ?? Many thanks Jo
i am sorry, i do not understand what you mean by that. this works for the most common water bottle. could you send a picture? facebook.com/bobwilson123
Yes I think it will work, might have to fudge the first round to make the stitches fit, but after that it will be smooth sailing and create a lovely thick cover

Thank you for your great tutorial. I am wondering though, with the neck much narrower, how will the water bag fit into it? Assuming that I need to remove the cover from time to time and have it washed. Thank you.
Hi, I would like to do one but I wonder something. Is the yarn enough protect us of warm of the bottle ? Because most of covers are created in thick fabric or padding to protect us. And yarn is not thick enough. What is your opinion about that ?
Help! I. Chain 24, then start with hdc in the 5th chain and do another 3 hdc so in other words I have made 4 hdc in the beginning then skin one ch then 3 hdc then skip one ch etc…… at the end of row one, your instruction is as follows: 3 hdc in next three ch then skip one ch and do a hdc in the last chain BUT I DO NOT have two chains at the end to skip one ch and do a hdc in the last chain, I only have ONE ch left at the end????
Hello, you can always add a chain on the end, put your hook into the chain, then using the yarn tail, add 2 chains because one of them will be your knot, hope that helps

Very good question Katherine! To get the water bottle in through the neck, fold the water bottle in half and this should fit through the small hole 🙂
How to put bottle inside with narrow neckline?
Great question!
When the bottle is empty, fold in half to make the bottle narrower, put into cover and then fiill with water.
Good idea :) I should make one when winter comes ;). Also, can you make a night mask please?
I can add it to my suggestion box :)
bobwilson123 Yes please ^.^

Great question! I havn't had a problem with my one. I used a number 4 / aran / 10 ply yarn and a smaller hook for tighter stitches
@@CrochetwithClare ok thank you for your answer.
Help! I’m stuck after 16.30 minutes. Do I chain 2? Does that point keep moving on each round??
Yes the joining point changes slightly on each round
I love the design but unfortunately not very clear about the 6th row?? Are we doing the 3 Hdc x 3 for the corners?
the 6th round is just a repeat of the 3rd round. you will be repeating the 3rd round for the rest of the length
