I’m with Cam 100%. My biggest fear. I call them thingys, I can’t even hear or say the word. That and the losing teeth fear are both attributed to people with anxiety.
I always thought that minding your Ps and Qs was a manners thing to remind you to say “please and thank you” growing up, it’s interesting hearing new stuff like that!
Really interesting episode! I too have heard the Call of the Void! I am scared of heights and claustrophobic - not sure of the origin of the fear of heights, but I was locked in a wardrobe whilst playing hide and seek as a young child and my claustrophobia was born! x x x
This was great! One thing about Austin being weird about his Achilles tendon…When I was in high school (early 90’s), in Texas, there was a time period where people would hide and wait under cars and when people would pivot to get in the car, they would slice their Achilles tendon. It was terrifying but not to the point I still carry that fear with me today.
Reading comments sometimes breaks my heart, it seems its never used to spread love and joy only hatred and disrespectfulness. I like to use the old saying if you have nothing nice to say then say nothing at all!!
My mom and I have experienced the call of the void many times. The rest of the family doesn't understand just how terrified we get. Love your podcasts. I've only watched a couple but I'm hooked. Tomorrow night I will be binge watching 😊

I have the call of the void feeling all the time, and I'm also a half-sibling-cousin thing! My cousin and I were stoked that we could technically call ourselves half sisters.
The wars of the world's broadcast story, the fact that this was a fictitious broadcast was mentioned at the beginning of the story. Many people missed the intro and thought it to be a real broadcast.
It was tragic.

My older sister is really scared of spiders. Even little ones she screams. When I was younger if she had one in her bedroom I or my little sister would have to go kill it.
I am somewhat claustrophobic. I had to get a mri done. The worst experience. It pushed me into a straight panic attack. Never again.
That and heights! I won’t do it. Probably pass out.
I feel for you, MRI'S suck, i tried several times and as soon as the machine gets up to my chin the panic is just BAM! Only time i have managed it was with the help of drugs, earphones and getting it done privatley 😟

I had tubes in my ears when I was young also and dreamed of snakes going in and out of my ears while I was under anesthesia and told my parents. They just blew me off.
I used to have a serious fear of elevators (still not a fan because I get a weird feeling in my legs after getting off of them, but I can ride them now at least). I hate having my ankles touched! Like if someone grabs my ankles, it’s the most horrible feeling ever to me. Also not a fan of my belly button being touched by others, but I can touch it myself without issues.
I’m pretty sure I have occasionally experienced that call of the void thing. It’s such a strange thing!

Same! Even the talk of touching ankles/achilles heel is making my legs feel funny and makes me queazy lol, unfortunatley for me i HATE touching my belly button so cleaning it can be stressy 😂
I love hanging out with you guys today on fives a crowd. I use to climb trees when I was younger and now I can’t I am so scared of heights now. You guys have made me smile today

A show idea the most off the wall law's that just makes you shake your head. Also things that makes your skin crawl.
Where I grew up we had rattle snakes and black widow spiders. I can deal with spiders but snakes. NOPE.
When I was 3 or 4 yrs old we lived in an older house and I shared a room with my big sister. The room had wood floors. I heard something walking across the floor... click click click. Whatever it was went under my bed. I laid across the bed and looked under. There were glowing eyeballs. I stood up on the bed screamed bloody murder and jumped and ran. My mom and dad came in. After they piece the story together through my screams and crying they looked under my bed. It was our stupid dog.. She got out of her enclosure downstairs. I think it was payback for my first word as a baby was telling the dog to shut up. Dumb Dog. Scared about 5 years off of me.
A botanists is a person thst studies plants, I'm pretty sure.

You guys should do an episode where you learn the root of popular phrases ("mind your P's and Q's", etc)....and CRAZY laws in different states! Its VERY INTERESTING!!!
On the topic of misheard song lyrics,, My history teacher was telling, when he was in high school, the song "my sharona" was popular....and he thought they were saying "mice on rollers"...lmao! Now, even tho I know the real lyrics, I still say "mice on rollers".
Isn't it funny, when you're a kid, you listen to lyrics and you hear them a certain way, then when you're grown you actually learn the real lyrics??
For me, the first example i can think of, ariana grandes song "thank you, next", when she sings the chorus "thank you, next", it sounds like "bacon n' eggs"

Tony-your fear of tomatoes. I looked up to this one girl that was scared to death of clowns, and I wanted to be like her, so I developed a fear of them too. I've gotten over it, but I was afraid of them for a while.
Noooo, the fuzzy spiders with the grey lines is NOT a black huntsman spider (my son calls it a "black husband spider" lol). Black huntsman spider are HUGE. Like, the size of your earliest?
I HATE spidersssss!! I'm the SAME WAY with Spiders as Zack is!!

Austin, I remember that episode of Men Try when you held thst tarantula. I was CRINGING the entire time and I probably would've had that SAME REACTION you had, if not more!! You were SUPER FREAKING BRAVE for doing that!!!😬😬😬🙌🙌🙌
I'm terrified of spiders, anything that flies and stings, and pain. Haha Oh! And going UP a roller coaster that has a big drop. Once I get to the top, I'm fine. And going along with what Tony said, I'm the same way with my kids. If I'm in a parking lot or near a road full of moving cars, or a high place, or anything or anywhere that anything bad could potentially happen, I hold onto their hands/wrists so hard! I've have SUPER bad anxiety, especially when it comes to my kids, and situations like those where anything bad can happen, I hold onto them for dear life. When I back out of the driveway, I make them either go on the deck or inside until I'm not back up anymore, bc I'm afraid of running them over bc I can't see them.
A girl I went to job corp with was TERRIFIED of dryer sheets...someone else i know is afraid of the sound of Styrofoam rubbing together.
We have those murder hornets too (another viewer called it a cicada killer)!! This things are NO FREAKING JOKE!!! They are MEAN and aggressive. The ones I've seen are, like, 3 inches long!!! And they seem to be nocturnal and drawn to lights like a moth!! EFF THOSE SUCKERS!!!!

When I was younger I woke up to my neck being like kinked and I thought I was paralyzed!! I started screaming and crying, my mom had to come in and insure me if I was moving my arms and legs I was fine! I must have just slept on my neck funny most of the night!
I've experienced The Call of the Void so many times! I didn't think it was a thing, I'm so glad I'm not the only crazy one!🙃😆 you guys are great, I look forward to every Tuesday!

Just had to come here and say after watching this episode that Cam you are not alone I too get the “call of the void” anytime I near a cliff or an edge! I thought I was the only one and wondered where those thoughts come from so I’m glad y’all talked about it in the episode and nice to know I’m not the only one who has had those thoughts.

Austin, I was so proud of you when you held that spider, I literally couldn't ever do it. I also don't do snakes or roaches, but here where I live roaches stand up and hiss at you and they fly at you and they can be several inches long. We also have snakes EVERYWHERE, and we have angry red wasps that hold a grudge and will attack you for being near them, plus we have Velvet ants which is basically a wasp with no wings and it lives in the ground, and we have cicada killers which looks like a massive wasp, but it has 2 stingers! I lose my sh** if anything is flying anywhere near me...doesn't matter if it's a ladybug, butterfly, pollen...if it flies anywhere near me it's deadly until proven otherwise. I also have a paralyzing fear of heights. My mom did too but I'm curious if it's hereditary or just a thing we develop on our own?

OK I have to comment on this part 9:16 the Q-tips topic it says, do not put it in your ear for a reason because you’re not supposed to put it in the hole of your ear basically the tunnel to the ear canal, and I found out the hard way because I grew up, cleaning my ears up using Q-tips that it can cause permanent damage. I’ve had to have three surgeries on my eardrums because there were multiple layers of gunk and earwax built up over my eardrums from where the Q-tip pushed small amounts back there each time you swipe it.
Cats are afraid of cucumbers because of the smell. Copperhead snakes emit a smell very similar to cucumbers.

Here is an idea for an episode from hearing you all talk about your fears. Why not do an episode where you look up the most random phobias/fears and see which one can find the most bizarre one?
The call of the void, mine is always like oh what would happen if i hit a transport head on. And for the cousins, my dad and uncle married my mom and my aunt. Tech the kids (me and my cousins) have the exact same blood line
The things that freak me out/gross me out are things touching my eye-had to skip the whole section of you guys talking about eye surgery, and also get grossed out when the veins on my wrist get touched 🤢 also afraid of heights, snakes, getting put under, and so many other things
I had cataract surgery done but had to be sedated because I started freaking out when the dr started coming at my eye with the scalpel then I came to before he was finished.
My cat looked at the cucumber and walked away in a bored fashion. He didn't even check it out or small it.just ignored it.
I hate insects or bugs with more than 8 legs. I'm okay with fizzy catspillates but freak out with millipedes
I have an extreme fear of being buried alive.. screaming inside a coffin with no one able hear me.
Have you guys ever heard of the fear of holes? My brother once had a girlfriend who had a phobia of things with holes in them.
I am afraid of heights and I can only assume it's because I'm so clumsy that I'm always afraid I'm gonna fall. I am also claustrophobic but I honestly don't know where it stems from. I am afraid of the dark too because I was in a coma for 9 days but I could still hear and feel so now if I'm in the dark I have to make sure to find something I can hold onto or hear.

My fears are a bit more realistic. I'm afraid of birds, being raped(or abused in general), being shot or crushed to death by a racist bigoted cop, sleeping in the dark and walking in the dark. In short this a shorter version of my fears, I don't feel like making it longer.

The cats being scared of cucumbers or whatever is because they don't expect it to be there. Please don't do it ti your cat, it can cause so many behavioral problems in the cat and unnecessary fear for the cat. Jackson Galaxy has great cat care and behavior videos. Anything you want to know about cats, he'll have the answer.

It's always the same scenario a bunch of gay guys or a few or couple gay guys with their own TV show podcast whatever it's as if they're just taking over the world I'm sick of it I'm about to turn off all my social media no more TV I'm sick of being forced to watch gay men anytime I'm looking for entertainment on my tablet or TV or phone enough is enough
