Finally, the genre that combines it all. Soft yet pushing, soulful yet mechanic, flashy yet raw... Ambient yet Techno. From repetition emerges endless variation in the details. A jazzy groove meditation Dub Techno is. A love for life!
Woohoo, who ever did this job deserves a medal of honnor. Sometimes people forget how advaced the sound and how avantgarde the club sound and scene have been back in the days.
Absolutely love this series! Such a delight watching passionate, creative people spontaneously remember and share the personal moments and emotions that these tracks bring back for them, as well as them calling out their appreciation for the creators of the tracks and their labels. Wonderfully positive.
Love these quizzes. The track selection is always on point. The love the participants have for the music is insprational too. Going turn on my drum machine now and get creating.
@@ElectronicBeatsTV 9 artist, 6 titles. My life goes around Dub Techno lol. Maybe 7 titles if we get "M4" as good as "M4 A". Thanks guys for this! I really enjoyed
This is a genre that is worth reviving because in my experience it was really hard to discover it at the time. Even record shops with a decent techno and house section barely stocked this stuff and, at least in the UK, it was almost completely ignored by the music press of the era. I had 100s of techno records and the only dub techno I really knew was Phylyps Track, Lyot, and a few of the Maurizio ones.
Oh yes Convextion - Miranda was the perfect track to end the episode, what a tune. There is something about Dub Techno it just never gets boring. Really great episode, such a good energy from the guests too. Cant wait for the next one!
What a great track selection, big thanks to creators of this video. Compared to fast beat techno today in the clubs this music sounds so groovey and much more intense, whish it will come back on the dance floors
I love that you kept it strictly mid-90's. I forgot how much creativity there was in the genre back then. Great tracks. I own five of these and still got like 2.5 points 😄 A few, I've never even heard of the artist or label! That track 9 that stumped everyone is really nice!
I don't know who always picks these tracks at 'Electronic Beats' but, for me, these are great great picks usually. Thank you for that! Very very much appreciated. Keep those blind tests coming. Maybe even more frequent 🙂
Thanks for this. John Talabot was spinning the Convextion track in London years ago and couldn't figure out the name of the track since then. Now it's sorted. What a tune!
Now would be a great time for those who have been promising time-travel "in the future" to make good on those promises. I, for one, would love to go back!
Amazing! Brilliant selection, love the partisipants, the video editors are making great job - very entertaining even for my mom! I need more episodes, make them longer and more realeases under radar. Keep going, EB! Much love! PS: Mid 00s Electro? Radioactive Man, Phil Klein projects, Si Begg, Blackmass Plastics?
Hope you gave Shcuro the half point for getting Convextion - Untitled, the original release didn't have track names. Props to Shcuro and Mareena for doing so well on this one, true dub heads for real!
Crazy how recognizable Convextion's sound is considering I even knew the last one was him and I'm not even a big dub techno head. It's those buzzy, twangy synth patches.
Fun video. I knew I was going to be weak on this, but to get a whopping 0 / 10 was a surprise. Kind of a pleasant surprise in a way as I now have 'new' music to have a delve into for tonight.
Crazy how even now my heart starts beating faster and my skin flushes, i melt back into the days of Hadtien parties, I was a traveller back in the mid nineties. Still have a lot of the music without names and titles on my mini disc player(it still works). I definitely remember how the music made me feel !!! I was not a Dj, names and titles were not important to me. I just wanted to dance! Thanks🎉
finally one of the most underestimated electronic subgenres featured (: even in berlin I didnt find any party series with dubtechno context, its so hard to find a scene :(
Lot of DJs play dubby stuff in their sets. Even in the 90s I can’t remember of any Dub Techno Parties only. Was always a sound for a certain time of the night / morning.
there were a few nights in London years back but nothing ever sticks, I think you'd need a wider range of genres to be played at the night for it to continue to be popular, its a super small niche
if by "dubtechno context" you mean the times when everyone wanted to be some Basic Channel, then I feel great, that finally people gave up copying it to death. Underestimated? Are you sure? Once you start drawing the lines of a genre to work within, you're done as a musician. Both Moritz and Mark never did that. So is Vladislav Delay, who pushed some of their ideas as further as possible, always trying to create something, that had no tag/label/name etc instead of cultivating a certain genre. As for Berlin parties, have you been to Wax Treatment?
Finally, the genre that combines it all. Soft yet pushing, soulful yet mechanic, flashy yet raw... Ambient yet Techno. From repetition emerges endless variation in the details. A jazzy groove meditation Dub Techno is. A love for life!
Beautifully put
Well written
Thank you Max Stirner
Amen to that!
Dub techno is a so underrated style of techno. It can be housy, it can be dark, it can be even darker. Love it.
Dub techno is so good. Slams on a big sound system and then chills you out on a smaller rig.
So true, can be totally banging in a club, yet also possible to chill to
LITERALLY!
I like it, 8pcs 18" Subwoofers in 40m² room. Quite enjoyable 🙂
All these tracks aged so well, truly a timeless genre of music

The bass on the Maurizio tune is sooo heavy.
Quite a selection! Taking 4 tracks to play in my sets. Educational, Inspirational! Thank you, lovely people! You are truly appreciated!
the last track is insane!!!
Amazing how fresh they sound
Could easily spin these today
Looove this genre, deep, raw, hypnotic, cold, isolated, brutalism, nostalgic, timeless, and inspirational.
Deadbeat rolling a zoot and having a blast is just too good
Excellent selection. Such a great series. My friend recently introduced me to it and getting through the episodes quickly!
That style aged so well, still tasty

Sorry, @@ElectronicBeatsTV but I got 10/10 right including production year, just sayin.
Nice to see Eli on a vid. She’s possibly the DJ who has had the most impact on my musical taste
That Merv one still an all-time favourite. Now got some great new discoveries to add to the collection.

this has got to be the hardest genre for people who aren't familiar with it 😆
Can confirm - never heard of any of them. Really like it though, so great to discover the tracks!
true. not easy but basic channel has that trademark sound which makes it noticeable :)
I love that you kept it strictly mid-90's. I forgot how much creativity there was in the genre back then. Great tracks.

Not exactly, there are tracks from 93 and 98 too.
W-Moon did more amazing tracks, check them out.
Damn, those are absolute classics. Dub Techno is amazing, it never changed 🖤

I love Mareenas energy!
The vibe of this video is amazing!
How about a 90s ambient dub episode?
There was so much amazing music in the 90s in all different types of genres. All these tracks are timeless
Thank you for including Merv - Dust ! In my opinion the best Dub Techno track ever made
Now would be a great time for those who have been promising time-travel "in the future" to make good on those promises.
I, for one, would love to go back!

blackmass plastics and all the related stuff from that circle are massively underrated.

Great episode of the serie, would love to have minimal house or deep house in the coming ones.
All aboard the Dub Techno vibes. Deep Power music.
