I like that Luffy slaps some sense into ViVi because, in war, people die no matter what you do, you can’t prevent it; ViVi is burdening all this stress and hardship all her own, that is why Luffy punch her and say that “why don’t you put our lives on the line, aren’t we friends?”
As someone's who only read the manga, I'm pleasantly surprised by all the Ace action we've been getting.
I would totally recommend the Anime to you, there are some parts to it that aren't cannon to the manga but are honestly incredible for filler.
One Piece breaks so many standards across the board.

The dragon island arc isn't horrible, but it does go on like 3 episodes longer than it needs to IMO.

Basically Vivi tries to take the burden all herself, its what see's being doing since she was a child.. kinda like Nami. She doesn't want anyone to get hurt, she treats the strawhats like strangers with that attitude so Luffy reminds her that she should consider them as friends, and friends will risk their lives for each other
Luffy was right, even if Vivi went to that place and stop the fight, Crocodile is still there, until Crocodile is on game, it will never stop. So, you have to go direct to the source
And it's a bit refreshing that you didn't freak out over Luffy hitting Vivi when she started it. So many reactors have a fit over it but they didnt even blink an eye when he punched Alvida.
Just like you said a few days back : "when you hit someone, expect to get hit back" well Vivi got to experience the feeling firsthand lol Luffy doesn't take turns, he just go straight to the point, with a few punches lost along the way 😂

Luffy is very...very impulsive, but he's good when it comes to emotions and situations when things need to get done. He just wants to help his friends. We also now know all of the top baroque works members, things are heating up. Thanks for the video.

Lol a cool thing about Mr2 is that they go by both number and holiday, which is why they don’t have a partner and insinuates that they go both by male and female. When they say “Oh come my way” , in Japanese called “Okama way” which essentially means cross dresser. Sometimes people interpret it to have a negative connotation for someone transsexual, but it isn’t always used that way and based on the themes of this story I don’t think that is what Oda is getting at. They’re pretty much saying “do it in the way of the cross dresser.” But yeah, Mr.2 is a goat.
Alabasta is quite "dragged out" and slow. Fans who go beyond this saga really don't stop. Loving to rewatch these highlights with you. keep it up
Yes, luffy may be dumb and stupid, but he's still my favorite MC simply because of moments like these. His emotional intelligence is incredibly high, able to feel what others feel without even talking to them, he "mysteriously" drags everyone towards him because of his pure character. Luffy throughout the series only gets better since he goes through a lot of character development, and I can't wait to see when we get there and the journey we go through!

Not sure if you been told before but I just wanted to tell you about Bon Clay's catchphrase "Oh come my way" Oda the write loves puns and word play. The word "Okama" in Japanese is slang for many things, such as drag queen, cross dresser, and even ho mosexuals. So as he is spinning around and proudly saying his catchphrase, he is talking about his Okama Way. Along with it being a very playful and suggestive english phrase of "Oh come my way". Bon Clay is the best.

Mr. 2 is great, at first he seems like a gag character to point and laugh at but deep down he’s one of the nicest characters in the show and has some pretty great moments. 17:31 When he’s singing that song, oh come my way sounds a lot like okama way, okama being a japanese term to describe drag queens or used in a really offensive way to describe gay people. He’s basically singing “the way of the queer”

This is the second time Luffy punched Vivi. The first time was when Vivi tried to kill Laboon w. Mr. 9. Most of the audience was "Good. Punch them some more." Everything in perspective.

Luffy really is one of the most emotionally mature characters in One Piece. From the beginning all he wanted to do was beat up Crocodile for hurting his friend. Vivi was being unrealistic and was trying to carry the burden of saving the country on her own. Luffy just checked her and said we're ride or die so trust us, your way isnt working.
Love your reactions! Luffy has a very unique way of doing things yes, but I like that about him.

well considering that Nami was able to be free of Arlong jusr a matter of weeks ago, of course she aint that concerned, after all he saved her when everything looked it's bleakest.
as for Vivi, she definitely needed that wake up call, not only does she not understand that people are going to get hurt, but she was also trying to protect Luffy and the gang. not only do they not need that, but this aint going to be resolved by avoiding conflict. Crocodile has been pulling strings from the shadows for the past few years, but without dealing with him, it will be just as easy as to try again another day with no way of knowing when he will be back. she has to be willing to endanger not only herself, but the Nakama she has made along the way.

Mr 2 Bon Kuree is delightful and funny, he just fell in with the wrong crowd!
The translation isn't the best for him, no idea why they call him Bon Clay. He's named for the end of year holidays in Japan, which are collectively called Bonkure (obon, the festival to honour the dead, and nen-no-kure which meand end of the year, so basically new years). Also, note on the okama: it's a unique Japanese identity which arose in the early 20th century, but Oda also borrowed a lot from drag when he wrote the okama characters for One Piece. It's doesn't really map onto any established western identities.
Episodes 98-102 is basically all filler, and I think that they do the characters a bit of a disservice. It's almost as if they become caricatures of themselves sometimes. That's my only real problem with filler content, but taken all together they can really shift your impression of a character, I think.
Don't worry about Luffy hitting Vivi, he most certainly held back. As a woman, I felt pretty good about how he treated her as just as able to deal with this as, for example Coby did, because it felt as if he saw her as another PERSON first and foremost. He holds back, yes, but not because she's a woman, but because she's so much weaker than him. For some people that would be the same thing, but not for Luffy, and I love that.
Anyway, Luffy knows what needs to be done, cuts right to the heart of it. He might be stupid about a lot of things, but he's also extremely insightful where it matters.

Some fillers are probably worth skipping. These actually have canon information in them, and as far as I'm concerned they're entertaining.
Bon Clay - He is a favorite. I'll leave it at that.
