@peteatthefarm4459 I wss here last month, fishing was slow with the front that came in on my way up. I'm back again and nothing but a 3 pound pike with the erratic weather. Now things have eased and it should be a lot better and I get some jumbo smallmouth
That's really nice of you to leave her to learn wout pressuring her. She'll have enough of that all on her own! That's a good place to learn, in the open like that. That log arch works like a charm. Nice way to get longer lengths to the yard. My heat pump finally got an easy night last night. Still up in the 90's here, in NC too, during the day. I do hope we have a nice fall. God is such a great artist, giving us amazing colors to enjoy. Have you ever seen the fish that live in the deepest parts of the ocean, where the light never reaches? So black and dark, yet the fish have such wonderful colors! No eyes, but amazing colors. Well, time to go find Eva's channel. Thanks Mike!👍🚜❤️🙏🇺🇸🇺🇸
I can’t wait to see you saw those logs. It’s my favorite part of the channel. That’s how I found you all those years ago, sawmill. Have a great weekend, stay safe.
This was a fun video for sure. I seen the Huntman say hi when you told Axel to say hi so let him know we seen it and HELLO back to him. I'm going to watch Eva's video right after I finish with this comment. It's such a pleasure to see everyone at the home front involved with today's video too. Glad Eva came home for the weekend. Say hello to the rest of the crews working around there also and glad they are doing great too. Miss seeing Levi and Kate and the grandkids, they sure are growing. Waiting patiently for the Thanksgiving Baby to get here also. Stay safe and keep up the great work around there. Fred.
Lots of the logs you cut seem high quality to me. Looks like someone with the right skills could make something very nice that would last 100 years or more. I think I heard you mention that you sell some of the lumber you mill. I'd be interested in learning more about that sometime. It was also great to see Hunter's smiling face. He looks well. I'm also a dog lover, so I like to see them romping around.
@realairplane261 I love it here, endless hardwood forests and lakes. I don't want to live anywhere else, not in the pristine Rockies on the west coast, or anywhere else in the world.

Had a cherry about that same size come down on the very edge of my camp this spring. It had that rot and broke off about 12' above ground during wind storm. Only damage was a little bend on my attached shed metal roof from it's upper limbs. My woods is mostly maple but I get one or two cherries blow down with that rot most every year.
GOOOOOOOD SUNDAY MAAAAAAAAWNIN EVERYONE!!!!…..🍩 Yet another nice video. That meadow is going to be wicked awesome when you get it finished. Horses or cows ? 🤔 Congrats Eva on learning to operate the excavator!!😁😁 Catch yinz on the next one Have a day!! HELLOOOO Hunter 😊
Another great video. You might want to consider using a chain to support the log near the lift cable and then relax the tension on the lift cable to remove the strain on the winch and prolong its life. (every time you hit a bump that transfers to the winch). Also consider placing the strap at the end of the log nearest the hitch without binding the lift cable to control movement in the log.
Mike, your machine is in very good hands with Eva running it. She did a really good job on first run with it. Quite an impression Eva made on me and many others. Truth, believe she will be as good as you in couple years I think. Have a great day and nice log there.
Good morning Mike, you harvested some wonderful logs and topped it off with some amazing memories with Eva, showing that not all learning comes from a book. I watched her episode and she did pretty good her comprehension skills shone through, the rest will come with practice. Good morning to Malissa and the Hunt Man also looks like you are having wonderful weekend. 😀👍👍👍
I can’t help but notice almost every time you wonder out on the trail there’s the two large logs still sitting on the right side of the trail. I think I remember you dragging them up there about 2 yrs ago or so. Lol 😊
Mike, had an idea: Two log arches in tandem would pick up both ends of the log. Only need a hitch welded to the rear of the front log arch. Enjoy your videos.
Good for you Mike, best way to teach . Show how to do it safely, emergency shut down , than just let the person fumble through. Faster and less stress than looking on and everyone nervous.
Eva did a great job thanks to your great teachings. She is her father’s daughter for sure. Love to watch the videos with you and Melissa and also when Hunter slides by once in a while. Thanks.
Great vid Mike. I saw Eva's earlier and she picked it up really quick. You know what they say - you're only as good as the person training you. Good job Mike.
Hi Mike, here comes my must be nice comment! I just spent the weekend milling a red oak log I retrieved from my woods. when I had it canted out I had a 16"x16"x16' cant. I was thinking how nice it would have been to have had an (hydraulic log turner) excavator to help me maneuver it. I managed with my 50 year old tractor and a hydraulic jack and some cribbing material. I play in my woods for my own purpose, it would be nice to have a digger of my own, and I know I would use it a lot more then I think. The reality is, its not where I wan to spend my money, so while it would have been nice with one, it was still nice without it!
Hey Mike! I am envious of how beautiful your cherry trees are in your region of Pennsylvania. Here in Southeastern, PA, they tend to be much thinner, multi leadered, and often twisted and bent. Despite having a sawmill for almost a year, I have yet to mill Black Cherry. All the best to you and your family. ❤🙏
Hi Mike, Don from Texas.....I was thinking that if the log arch were reversed, pointing upward, a new design, that you could lay the big long logs on it with excavator and easily stap them down instead of having to use the come-along-system which is slower.
Mike I know when you dropped that Black Cherry you were smiling when you cut out the wedge the wood is perfect. The fur babies are still a lot of fun I see. Hello Hunter !!! Ed in Partlow Virginia
Really nice Cherry log, I have seen the same rot problem down south also with Cherry, but man that is some pretty wood. With expanding the clearing a good bit Melissa is going to have you Farming, Goats, a couple of Cows, Melissa's Master Plan. Farmer Mike.
Mike, Doug from one eyed retro fitted Adams log lift with a banger of an extension and front lift.... Check that one out!! Sure does help on the longer logs! Eva's vid this morning was awesome!!
Hi Mike! I'm thinking you'd benefit from a log hauler like what sawing with sandy has.that way you could bring loads of firewood logs down in 1 trip to cut up and process . Keep up the great videos!
Mike and Melissa, just finished watching Eva newest video learning to operate the excavator. She was amazing, she’s a chip off the block from Mike. I thought she did a fantastic job without getting nervous.
Mike,I left a comment on Eva’s channel saying that she needs to tell her brother that she’s learning how to run equipment for you and she might take his spot in the future ❤😊😮
You should have shown Eva that trick of just throwing the wood and it stands up. I watched Eva’s video and you and Melissa have every right to be proud of her as you are of her older siblings.
