Reggae is essentially a derivative of soul and jazz, both of which originated in the USA - the birthplace of popular music - so it's hardly a stretch. What does hip hop have to do with your point?
@@merlinmediagroup Sorry, but this is incorrect. Reggae is a direct descendant of musical forms born in Jamaica, such as Mento and the folk music unique to the island. Certainly not a "derivative" of any American genre.
