I'VE SEEN AN IRREGULARITY.
Doug Walker's mugging bullshit in this travesty was what shook my NC fandom. What actually killed it for me, however, was his absolutely childish way he mocked his critics/fans in the very next NC video (James and the Giant Peach) who didn't like his LP; I have no fucking patience for anybody so resilient to criticism (such as Tom Preston). It also became obvious to me around this point that he had no passion for his work. Oh, and fuck his forced memes (especially when he *explicitly* told people to make "Fry the Coke" a meme).
Also, as much as 3.8/5 was too high for this video, that also makes it one of his worst-rated videos ever. Let that sink in.
The guy takes criticism fairly well, I'm not sure what you mean about the James and The Giant Peach vid. Keep in mind, a lot of times when critics make fun of their viewers for reacting harshly to something they made, they are not insulting all of their viewers, just the most vocal and unreasonable ones.

I remember poking fun at Nostalgia critic a couple years ago by making a video citing why Barts Nightmare is actually an OK game and debunking all the stuff he said in that LP. I still stand by my arguments. If only I made such a video back when UA-cam still had video responses :)

I love how the next episode came and he "Publicly" apologized for this. And to make it up, he reviewed a movie he hated but everyone else loved and tried his best only to make positive comments.
Nearly everything Walker does is exactly like this, so I'm confused why anyone felt the need for a specific apology. Same with Retsupurae's commentary, actually.
The thing with Retsuprae's commentary though is they actually talk specifically about what they're watching, while many of the people they comment on all act in a similar manner in each of their videos.

Me too, quite frankly, my teen self would be pissed while seeing the whole video. I gave up on watching NC back in late 2014 I believe. I used to watch him religiously back then.
NC videos are unwatchable for me now (even the older ones). And yet when I rewatch the old AVGN videos they seem even funnier to me now than they did then.

"unbiased" because having your only exposure to somebody be what is undoubtedly one of his worst videos, which even he has gone on record as saying he fucking hates, isn't biased at all.
But he acts the same way in every video he makes, granted he has some decent stuff he says in his reviews when he shuts the fuck up and raps up what he has to say in the episodes, but he's still terrible, watched him from day one and quickly outgrew that screaming man child.
He seriously does. He's like DeceasedCrab. You could pretty much put any of the audio from his videos on another Nostalgia Critic video, aside from the names of the movies, and people wouldn't be able to tell the difference.
It took 5 seconds for Slowbeef to hate Doug. I started hate him the moment he appeared on screen.

Kind of a shame the guys at Retsupurae apparently didn't like their riffing on the NC. While I don't hate the guy, I'd love to hear them riff on one of his film reviews, you know, the stuff he's actually known for. I can think of plenty of reviews that would give them all sorts of material.

Wow. Was the Nostalgia Critic always this bad? I mean, I remember him being obnoxious sometimes, but... this is such a trainwreck.
I remember NC making a follow up Vlog after seeing his LP bomb like it did.
I will never understand why people act like this LP is the equivalent of NC butchering a family. Yes, it was bad, but far from the worst LP that's ever been made. Retsu are usually funny, but this was less 'amusing commentary' and more 'Fuck Nostlagia Critic for daring to ever do something different'.
Now, let's see how many haters decide to ignore reality and paint NC as some egotistical prick who hates everyone.
But Doug Walker _is_ an egotistical prick, and this is probably his worst NC video (at least before he "finished" the series) tho.
That said, however, I would agree that this was probably (ironically enough) one of the worst Retsupuraes ever. Slowbeef made a total cock of himself because he went all crybaby about how someone can *gasp!* make money on the Internet. He didn't just commentate on the Let's Play. He went so far out of his way to attack the actual man (and with absolutely no clue about certain things either, like the picture of Doug dressed as M. Bison).
Slowbeef is a hateful, petty, jealous, pseudo-intellectual gatekeeper of the LP community.

Well...there really was no defending this Let's Play. It was a lazy effort, pure and simple.
The guys behind retsupurae were also one of the first to do video lets plays, so they actually do know what goes into a decent lp. Try watching some of their older stuff. There are some golden moments.
I like both NC and Retsupurae a lot, and this is hilarious.

The thing about this is that Bart's Nightmare isn't really that difficult. I understand he was playing off of the "he's out of his element" scenario, but seriously, he could have chosen a different game - one that is a bit more challenging to warrant the supposed frustration.
"The Nerd recommended THIS *Ghost & Goblins*" That would have been funnier and warrant the frustration. Of course there's a lot more wrong with this LP, that's just an example.
Nostalgia Critic is a little better nowadays since he has editorials where he talks about different movie things and a serious review show with his brother. His shows are better when he is seriously talking about the movie and analyzes it. I think he wants to be a serious reviewer but stuck being entertainment.

There's nothing wrong with critisizing someone's work, but I feel like they take this LP and use it to put down everything the Nostalgia Critics ever done. It's one thing to agree the let's play wasn't good it's another thing to attack him as a person using the let's play as your reasoning.

yeah, I like both Retsupurae and Nostalgia Critic, but I couldn't get through this. I never liked NC's video game reviews (he mostly does movies, cartoons, etc, which he does a good job with), and Retsu in this one is kinda meh, although I like most of their stuff.
I always thought i was the weird one because i never thought nostalgia critic was funny or had an interesting style of criticism.I saw his video about the movie it.His type of humor sucks, what he criticizes is really disproportional and often makes you wonder if he is just exaggerating his reactions to very menial scenes of dialogue just to fill in time.
Angry video game nerd had a similar approach with video games but when it came to classic video games, it seems very fitting and the type of humor he was known for displaying.He was funny at times and the criticism was accurate however the new videos he does with non gaming now completely suck and looks like a mimicked version of nostalgia critic.

the worst part? this isn’t even the worst video doug walker has had part in. this is honestly in the higher echelons of nostalgia critic content. all that is to say is i will take 30 minutes of this screaming cursing piss weasel over one second of to boldly flee.
though to be fair the whole of to boldly flee is better than a frame of his review of the wall.
I also used to enjoy the whole internet reviewer thing, but that was back when they at least tried to give honest reviews, the NC lies about the movies he reviews, edits out a lot of the good footage to make the film worse, puts his own words in the actors mouths, and in the worst case, he'll re-edit the movie to make it seem inconsistent.
The reason he does this is because he now thinks he should only review bad movies, so if it isn't bad, he makes it bad.

So Pewdiepie would never make it there.
If Doug Walker had done an LP as himself and not his critic persona, it might have been better. I think Spoony could have given him a few pointers on what to do as well. Unfortunately, as he said "I wanted to go into it like I always do, where I`m seeing something for the first time" which was for reasons all to clear now a bad idea.

Necroposting here but I really do think this is the weakest thing he's done and as of today I've long fell out of liking him or most of the people on TGWTG. I only follow a select few like Anime Abandon, Todd In The Shadows and Rap Critic only because they seem to not overblow themselves and just feel like guys reviewing music or anime like normal people instead of making these huge productions out of their videos. I'm all for the spectacular feel of something you're passionate about but not everything should be this grand spectacle sometimes just reviewing something in a simple manner is the best approach. Not all the time but hey it keeps from doing this kind of thing and going to a territory you are not suited for.

NCs LP video was bad but this RP was also bad really.
It was a bad LP because NC didn't do research it felt like he played the game before and it feels as if he scripted it which is bad for LPs
it was a bad RP because all the did most of the time was be as loud and annoying as NC was and the really genuinely hated the guy for one shit LP people find NC funny some don't but it's no reason to hate him like that.

I did watch all of it I know the reasons but the still didn't want to personal attack him so the apologise if you watched one of the latest videos the had to apologise again because some of the fans attacked a LP (Not in person just over the net) the RP for fun and not really to attack people sure the may not like NC but the don't want him to be attacked. Edit: just forgot to mention that a lot of people do autographs who are on-line Ashens (I like him) person who reviews things on his sofa has autographed some things he reviewed and even made his own movie and Pewdiepie (I hate him) makes 4million by just screaming in a camera. Just thought I mention that. I don't watch to start any flame wars or anything so please don't take it as that I don't mind debating though.

Critique is not a bad thing. However, it is a bad thing when it comes from people who do nothing but "Let's Plays" - something that is lazy beyond measure and people make money off, unjustified. You know what Let's Play brought us? Pewdiepie and Markiplier. Everyone can do it, everyone can be a talentless idiot and make a quick money off of it. It's a plague.

2 reasons, A) not everything he reviews is crap, he edits out a lot of the good stuff so that average movies seem like crap, as well as editing out the answers to things he claims are plotholes, and B) He recommends some movies he reviewed, like Hook and the Room.

They seriously don't like NC. They may not hate him nearly as much as they act in this, but make no mistake, they do not like him. NC has helped bring to light real talent such as Nchick and Spoony, but for the last 2 years he has been an assault on comedy. He doesn't care anymore, its just a business to him now.
Well, Spoony did make inappropriate jokes towards a fellow reviewer, then he spazzed out on Twitter, so he pretty much dug his own grave. However, I wonder if a certain peppy female reviewer hadn't kept her mouth shut, maybe the whole thing would've been forgotten almost as quickly as it started.

Actually they express their opinion through videos made to entertain their fan base. They don't actually think it's art. If you saw a video that you though was bad you're allowed to criticize it and so are they.

I don't really see why many people in the comments assume that Nostalgia Critic's humor is all screaming and no witty humor. I've watched a lot of the NC videos, and he does make a lot of jokes that doesn't involve him screaming all the time.
As for the video, I can understand the point of Retsupurae and that is to rip off bad LPs, and with many NC fans considering his Bart's Nightmare video to be the worst (even Doug Walker, the guy who plays as the NC, considered it as such), I can see why.
also why do let's plays follow some strict ass formula now? why can't a guy just play a game online for people to watch, react to it, and people not chew him up because he doesn't do it the way some other guy did.....
Why do Slowbeef and Diabeetus think they can decide who is a good LPer or not? They rip on people, who are often times way more popular than them, but they never say how they could improve. It is one thing to critic someone and it is another thing to be a complete asshole. Doug ( NC) made his own commentary on why his LP was unsuccessful. Doug commented on reactions from fans and he apologized to people who may have been offended. He is more respectful and intelligent than these two will ever be

Here's the thing about that: NC tried to pass this off as a rushed project, because of convention schedules or whatever, but if he had just put up a post that apologized for his busy schedule and the subsequent delays in his productions...sycophantic and mindless as they may be, his fans would've been totally OK with him waiting until he was ready to make a real video instead of...this.

Sadly a huge problem with that guy is his ego, and how a lot of the time he won't tell it like it is, he'll blatantly lie about almost the entirety of whatever he is looking at, and if he doesn't, then he has some skit that doesn't add anything, comes completely out of nowhere, and drives away people who might be interested because they have no idea of what's going on.

That doesn't work in this case, it's a character, Doug Walker has one opinion and the Critic has another, sometimes they differ, sometimes they're the same, but that doesn't make Doug a hypocrite, and even if he does pander to his audience, which by the way this video was received, he doesn't, what's the big fucking deal with that, if you don't like it, you don't have to watch it, no one is forcing you to watch Doug's or any videos on TGWTG, nobody wants you there either.
