I cannot believe I finally found UG on UA-cam. I lived in Mpls. from 1982-1987 and saw UG many times at Duffy's bar (record release party for Darwin's ...), 7th St. Entry, Williams Pub, and some club at the U. I knew a good friend of the band who introduced me to them and I used to talk to David at a coffee shop in the city (near the German restaurant). I was at the concert in front of Northrup Auditorium when they got shut down by the campus police. Always a blast to see them.

Always a fun night out with Larry and the band. They played lots of weeknights at smaller bars like Uptown and William's... usually with some insane drink special. Nice guys, too.
I also really liked their Sonny & Cher cover- "The Beat Goes On". Brilliant.

In 1984 I saw these guys play outside at the University of MN. The administration building was just to the left of the stage and the workers complained about the volume. Someone told them to turn it down. After they left, the singer proceeded to tell the audience about this dilemma. He said the following, "You know what I say to those people? F*@! you up there in your offices!" The band gave the finger to the offices. The audience followed suit. The school shut the show down. It was fun

I went to the U at that time and just happened to walk over there between classes. They just finished taking a break. Larry lit up some joints and the band started playing again. I believe it was the verse Hand on the finger finger on the trigger baby baby baby was a rock and roll N that started the issue. They were told to turn it down. After the FU they were unplugged. Classic.

I saw this band at Kirby's in Moorhead, MN every chance I could!. What an awesome time. Kirby's was a blast. Kirby's had so many great bands, UB were definatley my favorite. My God those were fun times.

Same here. Might be one of the first bands I ever saw at Kirby's, back before they even had a stage. Always drew a good crowd, always a good show (visually as well as musically).

Of course this UA-cam video is the one that can be shown. I saw some of their shows in the Uptown area in 1980's, and they were grotesquely obscene, to the delight of the punk crowd.

@bloderme haha, I assure you. They were not gay. Minneapolis was the best place to be in the "80's for music. These guys put on a kicking show! And people actually danced, not this standing around and bopping of the head toward the stage. We actually moved.

as populations get dummed down by capitalist and consumer culture, music suffers.
