    You are doing a wonderful job with the home schooling. I know that many people are commenting about the older child not wanting to be homeschooled but YOU AND JOHN were given the children to raise and the two of you know what is best. As a parent, sometimes we have to make unpopular decisions and do what we KNOW is the best for our children....even if our children (or UA-cam viewers) disagree. Viewers don't get to see the whole picture of what goes on off camera but are quick to critique or criticize. Don't allow " back seat drivers" to influence how you drive your family. Have a wonderful day!

      Great to see parents putting their foot down and actually being parents. Allie is too young to understand the filth that is the public school system. Florida schools have tightened up it seems. But I still wouldn't trust it. I applaud John and Alyssa for dedicating the time and money to homeschool.

    The people leaving hateful comments should stay in their own lane. My kids are homeschooled along with a coop and the middle child (15) is salty about it. We as parents get to make the decision, and when he goes to college he can decide where to go. That precious little girl is to young at this point to make the choice.
    Never doubt what a great job y'all are doing with your children. As their parents you have their best interests at heart.

    • @devchonka18
      @devchonka18 2 місяці тому

      @CindyMobley Abeka offers two primary options for homeschooling.
      The first option involves purchasing teacher and student books. The teacher book provides detailed lesson plans, while the student book contains assignments. This approach offers maximum control over the learning process (since you are actively there with the stufent. You can see where you need to provide more clarification instantly, you can skip mastered skills or just go through them quicker) but requires significant teacher participation since you will be the main teacher.
      The second option, which I chose for my family, combines student books with DVDs or online streaming videos. This format features pre-recorded lessons taught by experienced teachers. It allows for flexibility in scheduling and enables me to manage multiple children simultaneously. However, it's essential to monitor students to ensure they're engaged in learning rather than distracted.

    • @CindyMobley
      @CindyMobley 2 місяці тому

      @@devchonka18 ok so the videos or DVDs are best so she can see and hear a teacher? Let me ask you one more question, do they take test? If so do we grade them or do we send them to someone? lol I know this sounds crazy but we are just new to all of this and it’s so confusing to read about

    • @gracepearlbowling5402
      @gracepearlbowling5402 Рік тому

      The books the kids use in lower grades of Abeka get written in so they wouldn’t be able to be reused. It would be possible in the higher grades as the books become textbooks and not workbooks. But each kit comes with “resusables” so in theory she could save that stuff to be reused.

    My kids would not have tolerated sitting in front of a screen for 3-4 hours. In the beginning, I thought about it but decided against it. The point of homeschooling is to engage in the lessons with your child. Unless you’re an upper level educator, you will need to use others to teach different courses. I also felt I’d be better able to answer questions if I were the one teaching and not a screen.

Our co-op is run more like a school--we offer classes that are harder to do at home--home etc, PE, art, science, chemistry, algebra, drama and music are some of our classes. They are parent taught but a lot of our parents are former teachers. Other parents are helpers, babysitters for teachers children, etc.

    All they naysayers can take a seat and understand it's the PARENT'S CHOICE how to raise their children. I strongly support parent and school choice for education in the USA. With the sharp degradation of the public school system, parents deserve options that can work with the family values they hold. One size does not fit all.

My daughter in particular had a hard time from elementary school on because she was a sensitive child and so many kids are disruptive in the classroom and are mean jerks. (Please no excuses about kids being kids - my kids weren’t disruptive or jerks and it’s disheartening that so many are.) i found that to be true in both public and private schools. I would have loved to have shielded my children from that environment. They turned out pretty special, though.

    Love the organization. My kiddos are doing 2nd and k5, Abeka. Do your girls do all of the seat work? We try but it seems to take up so much time. ❤

    How about you choose the education right for your kids and let others choose what is best for theirs?
    You don’t have to like John and Alyssa’s choice, but it’s theirs to make.
    Also, most kids however they are schooled will say at some point they don’t like school or their school.
    Relax people. Take a chill pill.

      Exactly! My son begged for yrs to be homeschooled. Now we do and he wants to be in public. They are never satisfied. That’s why it’s up to us parents to decide what’s best.

    "In lieu of" means "instead of" or "in place of." I think you meant "in consideration of" or "in celebration of" it being the beginning of the school year.

    Hello Fresh is not cheaper than the grocery store. Home Chef is less expensive and we paid $9/serving. That's per person.
