    I just bought a pair of these speakers and I am blown away at the quality. I have purchased at least 20 different speaker systems in the last 10 years or so and for this low price new NOTHING I HAVE PURCHASED COMES CLOSE TO THE VALUE OF THESE SPEAKERS PERIOD! If you don't have a lot of money but want excellent sound I suggest you purchase a pair of these speakers. Right out of the box with no burn in these speakers will reveal detail that you never knew was there. You will not be disapointed.

      I read a review by 1 owner who said the towers cannot play load
      without blowing the tweeters.
      Knowing A. Jones' career as a designer + physicist I find it hard to
      believe these Towers will blow at loud volume.
      May I ask if you've experienced any high volume problems?
      Thx!

    • @tatsumaru12345
      @tatsumaru12345 7 років тому

      If thats the same tweeter as the bs22s, theres a inherit flaw to it. 12khz, has a HUGE spike to it. Look at tests for those. Flat flat flat. then...EEEEEEKKKK! That on average, 12khz is 3-4 db higher than everything else. Turn that down, and they probably won't pop.
      So I could totally seeing that being the reason that would blow it.

    • @Glock_4717
      @Glock_4717 6 років тому

      With appropriate power they can play loud well into the upper 90db range, but they are not the most efficient speakers so with my 50wpc onkyo amp I am not able to get crazy volume out of them. But the tone of these speakers is amazing

    • @allenwood8188
      @allenwood8188 6 років тому

      The tweeters in these speaker did in fact burn out. I've replaced them with a set of Peerless tweeters from Parts Express for less than $60 and I am very pleased.

I could not believe it I can hear every instrument with detail and clarity wonderful bass response those speakers are amazing I'm looking forward to getting a 7.2 Channel pioneer system to match them soon. 😊

    I believe more large companies should give their engineers a chance to explain their philosophies and ideas behind the products. It makes it a lot easier to respect certain things such as this loudspeaker. Gives them more of a back story instead of the feeling that you're buying some random mass-produced item.

    Still using a pair of these speakers “as we speak” right now. They are paired with a Denon AVR-X1100w 7.2 receiver and they sound PHENOMENAL especially for what I paid for them ~10 years ago brand new (like $225 for the pair I think at Best Buy) they deliver very clean sounding bass and very crisp highs/treble. The mid range (voices, etc) are also very solid. I do have a full 7.2 surround setup, but these in my opinion are the star of the show. are they the absolute best of the best floor speakers I’ve heard? No, but obviously at their price point you cannot beat them and for sure won’t be disappointed. I’ve heard a very large variety of floor standing speakers (Klipsch, Definitive Technology, Polk Audio, Energy Audio, and obviously Pioneer). I would STILL rate these in my top 3 favorite floor standing speakers I’ve yet to hear (even over much higher end speakers). Honestly the only difference I can say between these and the high end Klipsch and Def. Techs. I’ve heard are that the others produced more bass, that was really about it. But honestly, if you’re going to be running a decent or good subwoofer anyway, what’s it matter? 11/10 recommend these if you ever come across any that are still somehow new or even used (as of now/2023, I believe they have been discontinued).

    I had a pair of Monitor Audio Silver 6's for a few years and they are better than the SP-FS52 speakers but they should be at almost 10 times the price. These Pioneers are superb in their price range and a bit beyond as well. I have had them for long enough and have owned several pairs of really good speakers so I can tell these have benefited from Andrews knowledge and experience. I'm very happy with listening to either digital or analog sources and they are resolving enough for me and fit well into my living room. As far as the looks this is where he had to cut costs and I have no objection to that, and, I listen with the grills off which they did not recommend but that's my preference.

    I bought these out of curiosity and thinking if they had some magic I'll find a use for them. Minitowers have always intgrigued me anyway. So unpacked, attached the bases, disconnect my mains- Klipsch KLF 20 (85lbs each) pop the bananna plugs into the Pioneers spin up a disc-London Grammer and left the room to put the boxes away. For a moment I wondered if I had imagined it all. Surely my Klipsch were playing? No way that bass was coming from the little Pioneers but indeed it was.! They're that good :)

    Have had my new pioneer sp-fs-52 speakers for ten days, cheap new $97 ea. x 2 = $194 shipped. Very pleasing speaker for listening. Full bodied and balanced sound, exceptional mid-range definition and detail, musical instruments can be heard distinctly separated from one another. Bass response is tight, controlled, and for casual or close-in listening more than adequate from the smallish 5-1/4" woofers. Cabinets are decent sized helping bass authority. Gold finished binding posts are neatly recessed in a rear pocket, adding to the overall sense of good quality in this product.

    I've been wanting these speakers for about 3 years now - haven't had the money. I watched them progressively increase in price over and over about 5 times -which is depressing because I know the price the majority of people paid. My main concern is now I have the money to purchase, and they are nowhere to be found. Lastly, I'm concerned that if they start manufacturing again, they won't be up to the same quality. I sure hope so.

I guess those who want Andrew Jones speakers will have to buy Elac. It’s too bad pioneer has been fading away. So, is it overkill for those who doesn't need lot of bass? I mainly listen to instrumental music, like metal, rock, lo-fi and jazz with blues.
    I love to listen to electronic music too, such as gabber hardcore, dark side and neurofunk drum'n'bass, schranz, dark and psy trance, but i am not going to listen to it very loud due to the place where I live.
    So... should I go with SP-BS22 which is basically the same but just one woofer and one tweeter both made with the same technology?

    Just got a pair of these with the matching center channel.. The center channel is huge. Too big for my application. I set the receiver to use just L/R for front sound stage. But I found myself turning up the volume to get good dialogue, only to get blasted with midrange/low end when scenes change or music plays in the movie. I have the ability to bi-amp the towers.. Does anyone know if that would improve the sound so I dont have to crank it as much? Thanks

      You would not want these floor-standing speakers to act as a subwoofer. Of course, these would be great in home theater but these particular floor-standing speakers would be used as your left and right front speakers if used in a Home Theater application. Pioneer has a great subwoofer at a low price that you may want to check out on Amazon. These speakers are mainly 2-channel stereo Hi-Fi speakers.

      The bottom two woofers are powered like the rest, NOT passive. They're being fed only low notes.....is what/why you are hearing them as you and others described. No worries....all goodness.

    • @olaniyi570
      @olaniyi570 7 років тому +1

      Mike Day You're right, but to avoid confusion I would use the term active, powered suggests they have build in amps.

    • @mikeday62
      @mikeday62 7 років тому +1

      I appreciate you comment. The original poster was the first to use the term "passive" thinking the lower two woofers might be passive radiators (which they are not.) It gets confusing here because some speakers have non-powered "passive radiators" which look like a speaker but just resonate and are not powered. As such, these are a relatively rare type of speaker. This of course is a separate issue from when we are simply identifying most common type of speakers, called passive because they require a stand alone amplifier. The term "active" is used to denote speakers with built-in amplifiers. We both had our terms a bit mixed up even though l believe we understand how it all works. Here is an explanation I found (in the quotes below) that hopefully provides a bit more clarity:
      "The vast majority of speakers are passive. A passive speaker doesn’t have a built-in amplifier; it needs to be connected to your amplifier through normal speaker wire. This speaker level signal has been amplified enough to drive the speakers sufficiently. Active speakers, on the other hand, have a built-in amplifier and are fed by a low-level (line-level) signal passed along an interconnect cable originating at your preamplifier or controller. Because the amplifier is an active electronic device, it needs power, and so you have to put any active speakers near a power outlet."
