When 2020 happened I escaped it through fishing. I remember watching your videos. Either it was shore fishing boat fishing or out on a kayak on the devils river and it motivated me to get off the couch and just live life. I got a coworker a dudewho used to fish small mouth back in the 90s out of retirement hell he even bought a boat and we went small mouth fishing on lake Ontario out of wrights landing in good ole Oswego, hit Ford shoals and eventually fished all the way up in chamout and the thousand islands. But I used to watch you just nail these bass and I will never forget the first time I got on a real bite on the Oswego river for small mouth.
I guess what I'm trying to say is bud your videos inspire so many people. It's just awesome to see you experience the same waters I have. Tight lines

I catch all the googan downloads, but you sir and LFG are next level. “Keep fishing never stop” as you say, and “Anytime is a good time to be outdoors and fishing” as I say. Ps, must be nice fishing open water. We are looking at 1’ ice and will probably reach 28” come deep winter this year. It’s been kinda mild. 34” to 38” is the norm here.
Can we get a video of a compilation of this years intros…it’s what we watch for anyways. 👀

Surprised you didn't run into at least a couple of Walleye on that system, as both Smallies and Eyes can be found in some of the same structure.
Hey John, you should def come up next year in the spring, the fishing is the best then in my opinion and if you dont catch them on the main lake or river they always hit in long point state park area. Last time I fished there I caught a few green ones and one really nice bronze fish, but yeah you should def look into coming back next year reply and let me know your thoughts if you see this please. Absolutely loved the video.

awesome video Jon way to capitalize on some big fish on ur last day! The best time in my opinion to fish the Saint Lawrence is in the spring around mid may to early June. Memorial Day weekend is when I usually go and crush them. I’ve Been watching your videos for a while now, and I’ve been fishing the Saint Lawrence for over 10 years now. let me know if u would like to get back out on the Saint Lawrence I could show you around during the spring! I’ve been going up there every year since I was born and the best time of the year to fish up there is most of may until about halfway through June. The water is still cool and all the fish are hungry af. Come back and fish in eel bay any of those months and you won’t be able to keep the smallies off your line. Fish in lake of the isles if you want some big large mouth action.
You're a brave soul going out on the big lake with that motor, The St.lawrence/Lake O can be a tough place to fish, beats up eveything somedays. Atleast you rocked em on the last day eh. 👌

My family vacationed in Vermont and we went fishing in the Connecticut River. Being from Florida we hadn't encountered many of the species from up there. We caught tons of smallmouth between 2.5lbs and 4.5lbs. We didn't know just how unusually large they were until we went back to Florida and did some research. Some of the best freshwater fishing we ever did.
i was suprised the lower CT River also ha some bigguns. My neighbor caught a 30 lb striper in Chicopee. there be sturgeon, big trout, atlantiic salmon, big cats, some say bull shark near the mouth, but i dont know anyone who ever caught one

It’s freezing cold in Ohio, snow is coming. I needed to see some smallies getting pulled into the boat by Jon. Can’t wait to see more trips. Loving the scenery on this one. Camera work is awesome.

Fun fact about smallmouth: They can rapidly change color/pattern definitions based on mood or state of behavior. The more defined the pattern, the more fired up the fish is!

As a European who has never fished for bass in his life, I've always wondered why you guys work largemouth with a slammed drag on a bc reel and fish for smallmouth with spinning gear and a wide open drag... I just don't get that, would be nice if anyone could explain why
