  • Moving off grid wasn't as big of a deal as we initially thought when we were living in the city, but there are a few subtleties that we've learned over the last couple of years that have really made this new lifestyle comfortable and nice.
Join us on a tour of our off grid van and living space to see what life in the bush is like, and for anyone new to off grid caravanning we'll share some cool info about how some of the key features work and what to look out for if you're thinking of setting up something similar.
It is a pretty minimalistic setup as we have been on the move for last 12 months while working on farms to recover the setbacks following the 2022 floods. Everything excluding the newly added shipping container is designed to be able to quickly pack away for moving. So naturally this setup will evolve a lot when we return home and have more space, but in the meantime it's been useful to learn how to live in a minimalistic way where our whole lives fit within this car and van.

Nice. I've been on my 9ac property full time off grid in Victoria for 4 months now. No shower or running water yet, but I've got 4500L in my water tank and take a bath in a river nearby. I'm trying to get my ass in to gear before it gets absolutely freezing 🥶

Oh man 4500 litres is the dream!
Victoria gets pretty cold hey 🥶 apparently cold water is one of the best things for health though so if you Wim Hoff it, could unlock some super powers

Hehe hell yes. The Thomson river was pretty cold even in summer, winter dips will be.. fun 😳
I thought I was going to run out of water during summer, trying to keep all my 12 blueberry plants alive. It wasn't super warm, but very little rainfall. We got a big dump of around 50mm a few days ago though.

What a great set up, Looks much for comfortable then the old van. I Don't understand why all caravan doors squeak though haha.
It's great to see how much you learned from the first van for what you wanted in the second van, even though it was not the original plan.
Hearing nothing but good things about Starlink, do you get the signal at the land?

We watched that old tour after making this one and it's incomparable lol
And yeah caravans are just weird they can never get enough WD40...
I'm sure we'd have good signal at our land too as the satellites now cover north NSW 🥳 only issue is if there's trees to the south of the dish, it'd need to go higher or something to have clear view of that section of the sky. (it does move on it's own to find the best spot to face, and if there's obstructions it lets u know)
