  • Welcome back to Morocco friends! This week we’re back in Marrakesh and boy do we have a treat for you! This time we’re embarking on an epic food tour and making our way around all of the best street food spots in the city.
    Working our way through the medina labyrinth we try everything from charcoal-grilled sticks of liver to spicy snails in a rich broth and succulent rabbit tagine to steaming bowls of harira.
    Along the way step behind the scenes we get to learn about what daily life is like for the people who live and work here.
    We also get to try our hand at making proper Moroccan bread, attempt to recreate some traditional pastries and even get to prepare our very own tangia to be cooked underneath a local hammam.
    Seriously, prepare to be hungry by the end of this episode!
    And if you want to take the tour yourself here’s the link: bit.ly/3m9hUnz
    Let us know what your favourite dish was that we tried!
    Catch you in the comments,
    Sarah, James & Ady

    Visting Morocco allows the traveller to see an authentic culture with a soul. Not the slick Dubai-esque glass, posh, modern and soulless country… Morocco is the real deal. 🇲🇦 🇲🇦 Genuine people. Genuine country.

    Even the little Addy is participating, she is quiet and calm, but she is adapted to the noisy area in Marrakech 😂, this is true she has Moroccan DNA also 🤣🤣🤣🤣

    This is a true masterclass video for foodies like me. Thank you beautiful family!! While i was reading the title i started to giggle a little. If you guys love snail very much too, please visit Spain again. I would like to invite you to come to Valencia: enjoy our dishes like arroz con caracoles (rice with snails), conejo con caracoles (rabbit with snails), and cabrillas en tomate (snails in a tomato sauce). So yes, indeed..while it could look 'different' this tradition is very common around the mediterranean basin, in countries like Italy, France, Andorra, Portugal, Algeria& Tunisia too. Cheers and looking forward toward your next video. Enjoy. Cheers.
    Ps-I have read somewhere that snail were a popular dish among the first humans who inhabit these areas, so its a very ancient tradition still kept till today.

    • @TheWholeWorldorNothing
      @TheWholeWorldorNothing  Рік тому +1

      No it’s not strange at all, we’ve tried them lots of times and as we say in the video the last time was actually in Madrid. However there are plenty of people who definitely would not go anywhere near them (including people from Morocco as you’ll see from some of the other comments). Personally we think they’re delicious 😋

      @@TheWholeWorldorNothing You are further correct, its a personal taste. There are people in the ciuntries where this is a tradition would not eat or want to be bear them. As a child i didnt want to eat snails either (nor meat/chicken) I just started to eat meat very recently, best choice ever!! My heath improved.

    • @TheWholeWorldorNothing
      @TheWholeWorldorNothing  Рік тому +1

      Haha no worries! The “crazy” in the title was meant to mean good rather than weird food, we loved everything we tried and we’re so happy you enjoyed watching. We’ve heard about the snail dishes in Valencia but haven’t tried them - we’ll definitely give them a go when we come back. We particularly like the sound of the conejo con caracoles because we’ve heard that it was created from two of the ingredients that were plentiful on the land there so very rooted in tradition and the history of Valencia. Definitely one to try next time ❤️☺️

    Hard fan of yours ! You just scratched the surface of what moroccan food can offer ! You should try cow hooves with chickpeas. Sweet couscous (with caramelized onions, amlou, raisins and milk instead of broth).
    What i love about our food is it plays with your head 😂 you always combine sweet with sour or sweet with salty or even chilly. So you experience as you go layer after layer of flavour ! You cant simply find that elswhere.

    • @TheWholeWorldorNothing
      @TheWholeWorldorNothing  Рік тому

      Ah thank you! Yeah you’re right, we’ve definitely only scratched the surface, there’s just so much to try! Part of the problem is we just don’t know where to get a lot of the stuff which is why this tour was so good for us. We’ve not seen cows hooves or sweet couscous anywhere but we’ll keep an eye out for them. Definitely agree with the playing with your head thing, the combinations seem unlikely sometimes and then they just work amazingly. Love it 😋 ❤️

      I will. You should also try Passtilla ( chiken and seafood) and cow's feet. The meat is always tender due to the islamic way we slaughter th animal and let rest for a while so big quantity of blood goes out from the slaughtered animal

    I'm Moroccan and can tell you guys tried the weirdest kind of food we have in the country that doesn't get the approval of all Moroccans 😂😂😂... I personally never dared to try khlii (the beef jerky) it always looked disgusting for me... anyways it's always good to discover a culture by the music and the food, even when you start with the weirdest dishes like you guys just did...
    Remark : your Tanjia was overcooked.

    • @TheWholeWorldorNothing
      @TheWholeWorldorNothing  Рік тому

      Haha we try anything, especially if we’ve been recommended it by someone. We didn’t actually find any of the food weird, that probably says a lot about us and the things we’ve tried in the past 😅 But you’re right, this was way more than just the food it was a real insight into parts of the culture and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. You should give khlii a go! It tastes much better than it looks 😀❤️
