      My Father grew up there. He was adopted by a couple. His mom died early and his father couldn’t keep him. I spent the summer there with my family when I was 9(?). That was 47 years ago. I didn’t even know her first name. She was just Nanny Courtney.

    Did ye viewers notice this man.Austin, calling this place "home" I bet for sure his BEST memories is of this little,but still a beautiful settlement with character and uniqueness. in his heart an soul. Care free and great memories,it wasnt that simple and with the addition of big family,it was good memories,but hard times . but you can definitely tell he is "at home there". listen to his voice @ 1:29 .God Bless him for getting back in boat and getting (home) as much as he can!

    How can I get ahold of this fella? My family from rose blanche, I'm young and love history and want to travel round to see my old family grave sites, going there would be ontop of my list, I'm going next summer and was planning to find a way over to petits myself

    Why must people vandalize property, even as a kid I didn't have the urge to trash things for no reason.

    There's nothing secret about the 700 resettled towns in Newfoundland. Grand Bruit next door packed up in 2011.

      Black Magik do tell. I know a popular place where they apparently pay you to live is Alaska but that’s not exactly enticing for many. For varied reasons it isn’t the most ideal place.

  • @sandramiller9168

    Nobody can understand the beauty of growing up in such a small isolated place and the freedom! Just very difficult to make a living especially with the moratorium on fishing for a living! Killed small communities such as this!

      iirc, at least 90% of residents must accept the decision to resettle before it commences (it used to be 100%). it might sound sad, and it sometimes is, but these resettlements are almost always voluntary.

    It is not empty, and ppl were offered close to a million, to move, but they did not sell the land or homes, question is WHY? is it already owned by the indigenous, is the government doing something they dont want others to witness, so far the vid mentions weather concerns, my first thought is H.A.A.R.P. experiments 🤔 or after affects, hmmm?

    • @valerierodger
      @valerierodger 10 місяців тому

      OMFG
      No, they were not offered “close to a million” - it was $270k
      Why? Because it is extremely expensive to provide government services to so many tiny, scattered communities in that terrain - much less expensive to offer them financial incentives to move to larger, more easily serviced communities.
      Sorry to disappoint the conspiracy theorists
